I'm with you NYLENE I'd want it to be a child-free retreat...kids take up so much of your time and attention and other people's kids are always harder to be around for long periods of time (LOL)...

Hello Ladies

Nylene - Enjoy the crop as much as possible. I agree too though, I prefer kid-free retreats. However, I will add that I also don't enjoy the larger retreats (usually at hotels) with lots of contests and chaos going on. I really enjoy the crops I have gone to where it is a small group and usually at an upscale vacation home. AHHHHHHH those are nice - Now however with my fully functioning and completely stocked scrapbooking room, it is hard for me to envision myself enjoying any kind of retreat, I just want to stay in my cozy room.

Well, I am still in fits with my new cutter and the pen tool not functioning. Boy I sure have come to depend on that feature. It is even preventing my from doing my challenges for CHA (grrrrrrr)

Have a great day everyone.

Maribeth

I just finished the CHA chat and wanted to stop by and say hello. I have enjoyed the chats as usual. Even checked out a few of the CHA videos to see some of the new stuff. I like MME but still have plenty others to see. Have you all been able to see any of the videos or are you doing any of the challenges? I looked at the "two" person challenge. It looks fun so thinking about that one.

Nylene- I am with all the ladies here, as moms I am sure you treasure your rare time away from the kids. But I hope you have a great time anyways. I does sound fun!

Waving hello to you all and check back tomorrow.

Hi Ladies

Good News, it looks like my pen tool may be fixed. Fingers crossed.

Kelly - I am working on some of the CHA challenges right now. I needed my pen tool to complete my first one, and now that it is fixed I think I can take a plunge and get some more done. I have watched a bunch of the videos. Most of the stuff out right now is not really my scrapping style, but I love watching them anyway.

Have a nice evening everyone.

Maribeth

Good morning pokey peas!!

Just finished catching up, I am almost fatigued from looking at all the stuff you girls have done and all those fantastic los ,jornals, cards etc. that you all have created!! I am in slacker mode... waiting for a new laptop to arrive today and then begin the transfer... ugh.

Worked on the pond and yard yesterday, middle son was here and he really helped. We had so much rain, then unrelenting heat,I was a little behind. This summer is quite different...

It is now much cooler, actually sweater weather yesterday?? What's next?

I am dabbling in scrapping again, lol,I forgot how to do some things in PSE and am in the process of getting comfortable with some techniques again. I think I am almost back up... another sign of age... hate to admit it though.

Nylene,I will get the name of that app from dd,later today.

Jana,I had a mouse about 2 wks ago and he got into my orchids and tore out the wood chips on a couple. I am going to hang a sign up,to let mice know that I may not be the best person to live with. I will hunt them down and rid them with a vengence!! Last week I had trouble with the raccoons drinking from the upper pond, and a new ground hog was running across the front yard a few days ago.It is ever revolving around here, what critter might surprise me.

Anne, love your food los, although, they are so good, they make me hungry, lol!! How are your herbs coming? I dug a start of fennel for my youngest son,he has started a mini herb collection beside his barn and seems interested in growing and using them in cooking.

Debi,I laughed when you said the boys were back and it took just 11/2 hours to have a disagreement. I am sure they enjoyed their adventure!!

Maribeth, you sound like me,going through some breakdowns with tools and equipment. I get so frustrated,my impatient nature rears it's ugly head when I want to use something and I can't get it to work. I am so stuck in my ways with some things and then if I have to replace,I don't like the learning curve .

Cindy, that bike with the back up engine sounds inviting especially when you have gone on a long ride and still have the return trip to go!! What will they think of next!!

Well,I must get ready for lunch with ds,then I want to accomplish something today,I just haven't decided what!!

Soon come Pam

Hey all! The last chat just ended a short while ago. I enjoyed it and always sad to see another Two Peas event end.

Thanks ladies for all the praise you gave my journal. It made me feel good to know you all were excited and cheering for me. I am surprised how personal it is even with my choice of colors. Then when I add my journaling, it is quite personal. I worked on it again today and enjoyed the bright colors. Not sure what i will journal today but yesterdays theme was about compassion. Awwww, it was good.

Brandy- Good to see you. I hope you enjoy the last bit of your vacation. I can't believe the year is going so fast. Geez!

Pam- You all have had some tough weather, rain and high heat. I wish I could send you some our weather it is been pretty warm but nothing like you all are dealing with.

Maribeth- Glad you got that pen fixed so you can got to town scrapping till your hearts content. I have enjoyed seeing some of the videos. I just want to see it in person to see what it really looks like.

Maribeth, so glad you got your new machine functioning properly. I hope you get a lot of challenges done. I know I won't get to do any this time, but there's always next years CHA.

Today is Pioneer Day and we are having a "Cul De Sac of Fire" (a play on words for the big 4th of July Stadium of Fire held in Provo.) It's beginning to look a little stormy, but I think the neighbors are all still planning on setting off tons of fireworks in about an hour. Some of them must spend lots of $ on the big ones. We just take our chairs and a bunch of cookies to share and sit and watch. I think DD and family will come over too. Last year was lots of fun. It's held in a cul de sac behind our home.

Kelly, glad you are getting involved in the CHA chats. That's always a lot of fun with the Garden Girls. I am loving your art journal. What a classy project.

Sending waves to all the Pokeys. I'll check in again when I get back from the cabin. I hope I get a lot done. I'm taking lots of cards to make.

I wrote all the above 2 days ago, came back to my computer and found I hadn't pushed submit. I'm losing it!! Be back later.

Welcome Jen Miller! We are happy to have you join this Pokey thread. Just post links to what you do and enjoy chatting with others on the thread. It's always nice to see new faces.

Our cabin retreat was really nice. We had 5 children there who were really well behaved and didn't bother anyone. My friend who teaches art classes brought boxes of dies cuts she cut while trying out all her cricut cartridges, plus most of her art supplies and the children had a table to themselves. They had a good time too. I got a lot of cards made but haven't scanned or photographed them yet.

Debi, wishing you a wonderful birthday tomorrow. Hope your next year is a special one with lots of new, great adventures.

Sorry the image was so big. I'm not sure how to make it smaller. Just know that this diet is making ALL food look larger!!
I'll be back later to chat. I need to unpack and try to put things away.

Have a great weekend Pokeys!

Happy birthday Debi!
Welcome Jen!

I hope you're all doing well. We had a nice weekend at our company retreat last weekend. Nice resort, great speaker and food and fun with my co-workers.

Our daughter is starting to scrap! She is going to do her baby pictures (seeing as how I probably won't get to them for years...).

Enjoy your weekend!

I just did the absolute necessities today, shopping, getting ready for Sunday and spent the rest of the day scrapping. Attended a nice wedding reception tonight and came home and scrapped. I LOVE days like this!
Here is the double page layout I did.

Wax Museum

It doesn't fit any of the CHA challenges, but I did use a lot of scraps and the photos have been sitting on my table for quite a while. Nice to get it finished. When it's daylight I'll photograph the cards I have made. They don't scan very well.

Have a nice Sunday, everyone. I'll catch you all next week. Can you believe this month is almost over????? Where does the time go?

Good Morning Everyone

Continuing saga of my cutter is really getting me down. So I am trying to do the "When life gives you lemons.....make lemonade." But now I run into another stumbling block. So...............here is a shout out to Cindy or Debi, can either one of you tell me how I can manually rotate a photo in PSE11. I can find a rotate tool which just flips the photo in 90 degree increments but I can't seem to find one that will let me just move it a "tad" - any help is appreciated.

Thank you

Maribeth

Maribeth if you just want to tilt your photo in PSE you can use the MOVE tool, then take your cursor to the corner and you'll see a curved double arrow (arrow pointing on both ends). Just drag your photo whichever way you want it to tilt. This is the same tool you use to make something bigger or smaller or simply move it across the page. HTH

Thanks everyone I had a nice calm birthday. The boys and I went up to the Aquafest activities on Friday night picking up grandma...took a horse-drawn wagon ride along the lake, got some fair food to eat (the boys had gyros, I had fried rice, GM opted for a subway sandwich), took in the different booths, then settled in the park and watched "Surfs up" movie under the stars. Very relaxing. Free popcorn too.

Saturday, my birthday, I had to get up early to drive north to an open Department of Licensing office (most are closed on Saturdays-go figure) and since they've reduced them to only 1 office per county, I had to go a ways, but I managed to get my driver's license renewed for another 5 years...$45 later.

Then hustled home, picked up the boys, and headed to the orthodontist which is on the far side of town from where we live...got their broken brackets (Noah had 2, Owen had 1) replaced, new bands and added some chains...guess they are getting the full bling treatment. That took about 1 1/2 hrs. Stopped for lunch and then dropped the guys off at home.

I headed back up to my mom's (she's an hour away in the opposite direction) so lots of driving today. We went to the casino and we started off good both a bit ahead, but then we spotted a slot machine we like to play but haven't been able to find and promptly lost all our winnings. Maybe we don't like to play that one so much any more. LOL. Anyway we had a nice time.

Then it was back up the freeway, picked up the boys and headed downtown to watch the Torchlight parade (7pm-10 pm). We sat under the space needle. Traffic was a bit crazy, but I opted to drive and chance finding a parking place (which was easier than I thought since I parked near a church I used to attend often about 8 blocks from where we were meeting our friends). We had planned on taking the bus but they rerouted the buses due to the parade route closures and we'd have to transfer 2x (thus 3 buses) each way to get there...decided that was too complicated for me. It worked out. Grabbed subway sandwiches for the boys and enjoyed the parade.

Now we're all sleeping in. the weather is decidedly cooler today-nice. Trying to get up the motivation to do a bit of yard work but so far I haven't even left the comfort of my blanket on the couch. Hunger may win out motivating me to go downstairs soon though.

The only sad thing is I'm afraid my laptop may be dying. It overheated and shut down Friday night...and I haven't had the courage to even try to see how bad it is yet. I'm using an old laptop right now, but all my LOs and digi supplies are on my other hard disk. Fortunately I do have them backed up online (I hope) if it comes to that. Crossing my fingers for an easy fix but if it's the fan it may mean having to replace the CPU and that is tougher. May be easier to just switch computers but I do like that laptop. Hoping the hard drive isn't fried.

I might take in the free youth play today for fun. I do need to do some grocery shopping (not my favorite activity) but unfortunately a necessary one.

Have a good weekend.

Debi - Happy Belated Birthday, sounds like you have stayed quite busy. But it sounds like you had a great time. Fingers crossed on your computer I hope it and easy inexpensive fix. Much empathy for you right now after all my machine problems recently. Thank you so much for the help with PSE11. The move tool is what I needed. Boy this is a hard program. I found an online class that starts in mid August, given through the College of Santa Fe for 99.00 I am thinking of taking that.

Hope everyone is having a great day.

MARIBETH have you checked out Erica Hernandez and Sande Krieger's PSE classes here at 2peas. They both use an earlier version of PSE but the tools are basically the same (just where you customize them is at the bottom of the screen in PSE11 and top of screen in earlier versions) but they are free and should get you through the basics...worth a gander. Go here for Sande's class (the one I learned PSE from)

PSE with Sande Krieger

and this one from Erica
Digital 101 by Erica Hernandez

then pop over to the digital scrapping board to ask questions. We are a small group but we are more than willing to answer questions. It's a great way to learn. That's how I did, then once I got a little more confident, I started doing different technique challenges and looking up tutorials on YouTube...there is a plethora of free help there as well as many of the digital scrapping sites have free tutorials on beginning digital scrapping and most use PSE and Photoshop.

Start simple and build so you don't get discouraged.

I have had a nice afternoon and getting ready to fix a quick dinner. Our weekend was nice. I got to M's twice to pick up more paint supplies for my art journal. SO this made me happy.

Just posted a new blog post about my new passion. Stop by and see more pics of of my latest art journal pages. Can't wait to create a new page tomorrow!

Pam- Sorry the Cali weather is not getting to you but I hope today was better. My journaling is going great. I am still so surprised I am passionate about so many arts and crafts. But I am enjoying the adventure!

Debi- Glad you had a nice birthday!

Cindy- What a fun trip you and family had. I know the dgc will remember this for a long while. This Summer is going so fast school will be here before you know it.

Brandy, congrats on the new baby. There's nothing like having a new little one around.

Pam, congrats on finishing the challenge. I've not finished all four every month this year, but occasionally I get a few extras done. Glad you are getting your scrapping mojo going again.

Cindy, tell us about your trip. Was this to see relatives, or just a big vacation? Sounds like the grands had a great time.

Kelly, I tried twice last night to leave a message on your blog and it wouldn't let me. I've been having problems with my computer and apparently downloaded something that added tons of ads. I think that's why I couldn't post, but DSIL took care of it and cleaned it all up for me. What would I do without that boy! So I left you some love.

I can't believe that the month is almost over and we will be into August. The kids go back to school on the 21st and it seems like I haven't had enough time with them yet. We still have lots of projects to finish for the County Fair, so I'll be seeing them often in the next 2 weeks.

I finished one challenge for CHA, the relationship one. This is a page about Angie's DH and Sammie. It was a fun one to do.

Attentive

Maribeth, did you ever get everything working on your cutter?

Debi, glad you had a nice b-day. I'm sure the cards from the boys made your day!

I'll be posting a new thread tomorrow night or Thurs. morning and I hope to "see" you all again in August.

Good morning Peas! Hope you are all doing well. We took the grands to visit Bob's cousins in PA. We stayed in a motel so they could experience that and Maggie was so excited to get to go to another state! They got to see the mountains pick blueberries. We hoped to visit the orchards for peaches which Bobby loves but the fruit was not ready yet. (We hope to go back in a week or so to get the peaches and some apples} They got to meet family members and swim in the pool. We also had a bonfire and roasted marshmallows. We were only there a few days. It is a four hour car ride but thanks to Leapads they stayed entertained!

Pam-so nice to see you scrapping! We have missed those special pages. The weather has been a little better for our plants. The tomatoes are finally starting to ripen, but everything is small and slow.

Kelly-I love your journal pages-especially the last one! Beautiful work GF!

I am meeting a friend that I met at Designer Digitals for lunch. She lives about 20 minutes from here and this is our second get together. We actually get to chat about scrapping for a couple of hours. We meet at a Panera's where it is actually quiet enough to talk! There is another lady I would like to meet who lives south of Columbus. We may meet in Mansfield for a lunch. I will have to do it after the kids go back to school though as it is about a hour's drive from here.

Well gotta run, will be back later!

Hugs, Cindy

Good morning..... cloudy and bouts of rain here today.

Well this would have been my 48th wedding anniversary.... this will be a day of memories. We were married on a sunny Saturday.....I am going to have Ruby this afternoon,so she will surely keep me busy, lol. Then a nap later!!

Cindy, your trip sounds like it was loads of fun, perfect for a summer adventure. Will you be making pies or jams with your fresh picks? I made some black raspberry jam about 2 weeks ago. DS provided the raspberries from his woods and I did the rest. It is delicious on toast and I only wish the berries lasted longer.

Well,I should prepare for my visitor this afternoon, she will need some books for us to read and some toys,so I am off to get that stuff out.

Hello to all.... hoping that all is well with each of you..

Soon Come Pam

Pam, I'm sending hugs to you today. I'm sure it's a bittersweet day as you remember those many years with your DH. I hope you have a wonderful day with Ruby Jo. A day with the grands (or ggrands) seems to make everything better.

Cindy, it sounds like such a great experience with the kids. I know that Ash and Lys have loved driving (well, not the driving) to Angie's with us and having the week in a hotel. You and Bob are such sweet grandparents. I'm jealous of your new scrap friend who gets to have lunch with you. I really wish we lived closer together.

I am on a roll. I have so many photos I want to scrap that I can't stand to leave my table bare. I'll post the one I did today with the new Pokey Peas thread tomorrow.

See you all in August....tomorrow!

Well haven't had a moment to try to fix my laptop yet, so no scrapping but had a great day anyway. Took boys to watch the BIG MIRACLE movie about rescuing the trapped gray whales in Alaska. I really liked it.

then the boys' out of town friends came over with their aunt and we played Pictionary for hours...it was hilarious. Had lunch in between. Kids went to the park twice for a short outside fresh air break (our weather was a bit cool and iffy today), then BBQ hamburgers for dinner (first time using my new grill and it worked great). Also had baked beans, fresh strawberries and grapes.

Then we played charades using Pictionary cards. I wish I had my camera when my son Noah tried to act out bikini...he was so embarrassed as he was trying to convey a woman's swimsuit top...it was hilarious. Of course my trying to get my team to say "mow" was just as bad as they kept thinking I was walking like an old person....instead of pushing a lawnmower. It was fun to do something interactive with the 4 boys (3-14 year olds and 1-11 year old) instead of just doing Xbox. They left around 10 p.m. and we are all tired.

It's days like this that help build good memories --at least these family game times are what I remember fondly from my own youth.

A new month tomorrow...summer is half over for us.
