I think I must be the only one! My cat, Spencer, bugs the heck out of me when I try to scrapbook or do a project. If I sit still on the computer he tends to lie down and sleep on the floor, but if I get up and try to work at my scrapbook desk on a project he hovers around my feet and meows or hops right up into the middle of everything. It's very frustrating, but I hate to lock him in another room. I am so relieved when he's down for his afternoon nap (sounds like a baby) and I can work without being bothered. At night he just will NOT let me work and bugs me until I come to bed with him. He waits for me and won't go alone. Can you believe that!?

My cats will come up and sit on any papetcrafting project I'm working on. Sometimes, they'll just invite themselves to sit in my box of supplies. It's as if they are saying "Mom, you want to pay attention to ME, not this silly paper stuff." So you are not alone.

I have to store all my photos and supplies in plastic storage bins or my cats will attack my stuff. I was scrapping this morning and turned around for a minute and one of my cats bent two of my photos!

I set down a throw away price of paper right next to me. She thinks its new and exciting lay on and it has premo location next to me. And she's off my real stuff.

So funny! I can relate, my hound dog doesn't always want to let me scrap, she'll stand there and fuss at me to walk her. Usually I do first so she will sleep at my feet and let me work. Fortunately she doesn't walk on anything, she weighs 72 pounds.

LOL!! That is really quite funny! sorry to laugh, I know you're probably having one heck of a time with this.

I'm not sure yet myself. We adopted two kittens about 3-4 months old in August last year, now obviously cats just over a year old, but I haven't scrapped since we've had them, so not sure what they will do.

Now we're in our house (almost 2 weeks), it probably won't be long till I find out, but they already follow me all over the place, and seem to very much enjoy my new studio

I hear you! If I walk away from a project that is on my desk, the chances are good that when I return, the cat will be ON the project, acting as if she's been there all day. She's a butt.

Well I don't have a cat but I have a very large Great Dane who thinks I should spend every waking minute playing with her instead of Scrapbooking (or laundry or dishes). She sits and whines at the scrap room door making me feel guilty. Although most of the time I'm scrapping pics of her!

I have a cat just like that....his name is Jax

The way I solved it is I put a bed for him on my left hand side. I put catnip on the bed and that is where he gets the treats too. He just wants to be near me so I often lean over and give him a kiss or a rub and he knows this is his spot. Works great for me, my tool bag on my right and my cat on my left.

I love the smell of card stock in the morning.....

The Movie poster that is my avatar is very special cause my husband is in it and it won best film at the Canadian Film Festival in 2012. See it......It's super funny.

I have the same problem, but with my two cats. They are forever getting into my stuff. If I am using any kind of media that needs drying I have to put it away somewhere behind a closed door or else it ends up with foot prints all over it.
One of my cats chews everything too - if I leave a stack of paper or cardstock out I will come back and find out that he has chewed all the corners. He is terrible as he likes to chew lots of things he is not meant to. In fact he is in the vets right now, has been for three days as we think he has a blockage in his bowel due to him chewing on something.
In the past he has eaten through electrical cords (even while plugged in and on!!!), rubber balls, kids toys, shoes.......anything that he can get his paws on and his teeth around. Seriously he has used up most of his nine lives.

My cats don't seem to care for scrapping. One of my cocker spaniels demands to be under my table sitting in my feet though.
Mercy Tiara's cat makes frequent appearances in her videos. Makes me giggle.

My cat does tend to follow me around. If he gets in the "follow you around" mindset I usually:

Have cat treats on hand.
Sprinkle them on a comfy chair or sweatshirt.
He eats the treats and then sits on the sweatshirt.

If he gets too antsy to stay in one place he goes outside.

I have 2 dogs that have to be in my scraproom with me. Spikey thinks that the computer chair is his chair. He will be perfectly content laying on "his" afghan on "his" chair while I scrap. Layla on the other hand has to be on my lap, on my table, on my! She weighs all of three pounds and walks all over my scrap table, if there happens to be anything edible on there she finds it!

One or both of my cats generally "need" to be in my lap when I'm at my table. I had one of them sit on a Cricut mat I was using - it was the funniest thing watching him try to get unstuck, til I had to try and hold him and pull the mat off of him.

My little girl cat loves it when I scrapbook. If she sees me heading in the direction of my craft room, she runs and jumps on my stool. She gets petted as I try to work. If she doesn't get enough attention, I am the recipient of a bite on the arm. At that point I move the stool away, and she goes off sulking.

My cat eats foam thickers. Only the foam ones, though. I usually can leave most layouts out while I'm working on them but I can never leave a foam thicker layout out without putting something on top of it.

She also will try to eat my ribbon and twine.

She's an eater. I had to pay $1100 once to get a ponytail holder cut out of her.

She also likes to "help" me while I'm making a layout.

I did have one that wanted to be involved. He would lay on top of my paper holder and watch. Or he would reach down and slap at my hand while I was writing or using a pen. He would steal any paper that moved wrong (while I was cutting it) and he would walk across my stuff while I was working on it.

He used to steal my ponytail holders and run down the hall to the bathroom and throw it in the toilet. Then he would sit on the rim and fish it back out repeatedly with a single claw. I guess he liked to fish. He would steal the pull tab off the milk jug and throw it in there too. And once he threw a purple catnip mouse in the toilet and couldn't get it back out. So it went to a watery grave.

Cats are sooooo funny!!

For years I've thought that Spencer was a beautiful boy! I adopted my silver Persian, Mr. Bingley, and my tortie Persian, Precious, from a Persian rescue group last year. Both like to "help" me scrap and so does DH's Bombay kitty, so I understand the problem!

Bingley stays underfoot and has to have me in sight. He also won't go to bed without me and will periodically complain that he's tired and ready for bed. Precious has a paper licking fetish and likes to lie on whichever desk I'm working at! At least Dante will eventually settle into the empty box I keep on the computer desk.

Unfortunately Dante is a klepto and he loves to steal stamps and cut paper strips. He tests new things with his fangs so I have to set things out of reach or move him if I need to leave the room. Otherwise he will leave bite marks on my supplies or projects.

Such beautiful and funny cat (and dog) stories here. Thank you for sharing!

My cats were really interested when I first started scrapping but now they seem to have lost the interest. They'd much rather sit on hubby's keyboard or laptop while he's trying to get some work done, poor guy. lol!

So far, they have also been really respectful of my scrap stash. I can leave anything out and they never chew on it or steal anything. Other papers, like receipts or bills I've printed out and left on my desk, one of the cats is usually chewing into shreds. But never ever a scrapbooking paper. It's amazing! Like they know those things are important to me. I hope it lasts. *knock on wood*

My dog is like this. She's a Jack Russell and wants to constantly sit on my lap and be fussed over. I had put a bed under my desk and often tell her to go there, but this doesn't always work. She can be such a pest haha! I sometimes have to have her up on my lap while I work which is not fun! She's a cutie pie though and melts my heart most of the time

My two cats love to scrapbook with me. After finally managing to get a Raskog 3 tier trolley from Ikea I am only allowed to use the top tier they like the middle and bottom tier to sleep in. Must say I love the fact my cats scrapbook with me.

Mine pretty much leave me alone while scrapping. One of them walked across my desk while I was scrapping for the first time last wee though and my chair is the other one's favorite place to nap.

Maya, Mercy Tiara's cat made multiple appearances in her latest YouTube video. Yes, I do watch her a lot since I know her cat's name.

So far, our cats leave me alone while I'm scrapping. They may come in the room, but they prefer hanging out in the window sill. One cat, Ginny, does like to occasionally sit on the keyboard of my laptop while I'm trying to work on it, so I'm familiar with the concept.

Love reading these stories. Cats are such funny creatures.

I was in my craft room last night with 2 nervous dogs because of the fire works. Everytime I moved they followed, I felt so bad for them. But the cat was no where near the craft room.

I have one cat who will just sit right next to me and watch me. Sometimes I narrate for her.

I have another cat who believes that I am awesome because I bring her all these fun things to swat at and sit on and chew. I have had to take a break this morning from finishing up my PL spreads because she keeps getting in the way.

Heck your cats news around your feet?
That's nothing

Mind seem to thinks she should be directly in front of me on my project.
If I move the layout to the side if the cat and try to work in it, she moves over.
I try to work when she's sleeping so I actually get something done

I have two cats and one could care less about my being in the scrap room, but the other one can't stand it! I'm not paying attention to HER! She walks and paces and howls and yowls (she's Siamese) and generally fusses until I give up and quit. Sometimes I can bring her favorite blanket in and persuade her to lie down on it. Or I'll put a piece of copy paper on the floor, tell her not to touch it, so naturally she'll spend an hour rolling all over it and fanging it to death. Since I'm usually scrapping photos of the cats, she gets a break! (But I do sneak into the scrap room when she's napping!)

I have rats that don't like it when I craft. My table is right by the boys cage. They will squeak and carry on till I open the cage for them to come out!
Then while they are out, they try to eat my paper and stickers.
Or they try to pee on it.
It's annoying sometimes but it's so cute!
Love my ratties!

Right now my girl is asleep in my scrapping chair! I try to get her to sit there or I put down a new empty box (the 4" or so tall one from Two Peas) or a paper bag or something with a different texture. (In the winter, it is towels straight from the dryer...I swear it!) Then she stays next to me. There are times she cries for me to go upstairs so we can scrap together. My boy cat? I have no idea where he is!! We love our kitties!

We have three of the cute little buggers.

Mitzi only comes into the scrap room when she really wants attention. Then she sits right in front of me and head-butts my hand until she gets what she wants.

Xander is usually content (85% of the time) to sit behind me in the computer chair. The other 15% of the time he's on the desk (all 21 pounds of him). If I have little strips of paper, ribbon or twine, then he's right in the middle of my project trying to help.

Mia is our little thief. She gets up on the desk and walks around looking for things to knock off the desk. She loves to run away with packages of embellishments. She will also rip dimensional things off completed pages if I don't have them covered. Sometimes she will lay behind me on the computer chair.

Sometimes I have both Xander & Mia behind me on the computer chair. Then I only have a tiny bit of the edge of the seat. If I get up for something, they spread out & I'm out of luck for sitting back down. It's funny because Mia will usually grumble at her brother (it's more of a grunt than a growl) if he's crowding her. Even if he was there first and she jumps up and lays with him.

You mean a cat who loves to come and sit her big fat butt down in the middle of whatever I'm working on? Or a cat that the moment I pull the sheet off the top of my Cameo mat and set it down will hop on it and lay her furry self down on it? Or a Precious Little Princess who has an awful habit that has lead me to nickname her "Filthy Photo Licker"?!

No, my precious baby is not one of those cats which you speak of... She's a well behaved little Tortie.....

I am remembering when my girl kitty was little and I had a layout all out on my desk. It included some goldfish made out of paper strips - I can't think of what it was called- and in the morning, all three goldfish were gone, never to be found again! I should have taken a picture and scrapped it along with a photo of the layout I was CASEing. Good times!

lovin these stories,

also have one who w i l l not move from the chair when I try to scrap, I've learned to work standing up. My only reprieve is when the birds are outside the window, he would rather chatter at I always leave the blinds half up, hoping.

then the other, I now store glue dots and pop dots in a drawer, we don't want to talk about what the floor looked like the night I had left them out...yes, a row of glue dots stuck to the wood floor.

Mercy Tiara's cat makes frequent appearances in her videos. Makes me giggle.

When I read the thread title, this is exactly what popped in my head "tracy's cat!"

The dogs come in and sleep. My old cat comes in to be nosey and see if there is any ribbon she can eat. The new kitty, whose only a couple months old, likes to come in and play with everything, climb everything, and hang from my ribbon wall!

My Siamese, Misty, is a little pen thief. I've found journalling pens under the bed, under the refrigerator, and even stashed with the cat toys (hide in plain site). Her mom used to just jump on the table and lie right on top of whatever layout I was working on. A cat I had years ago, another Siamese, got a hold of some pictures once and 'perforated' the corners by chomping on them. But they're so cute when they curl up on your lap you just gotta love them.
