|Posted: 7/5/2013 7:23:01 AM|A few days ago, I saw Janna Werner's instagram post showing a layout she made exactly one year ago. I started looking through some of my layouts from around a year ago and the main thing I noticed was that I liked messier layers with more torn edges.
ETA: should probably post a recent one for comparison!
How has your scrapbooking style changed (if at all) from one year ago?

Fun question. I think mostly I used a lot more colour a year ago then I am using now.
Those layouts are actually some of my all-time favourites!

A year ago everything was super clean lines and minimal embellishments for me. Presently, I have kept the overall look, but I use more embellishment clusters.

O my gosh it has changed so much! About 6 months ago I discovered 2peas & Glitter Girl. Before that everything was very grid like, usually always based on a sketch, almost always a 2 page spread, and very little journaling and minimal embellishment. That is all very different now. I'm all about layers & embellishments, and massive journaling. I mostly scrap 1 page layouts w 1-2 photos & amazingly I'm making much quicker progress than i did back in my 2 page, multi photo days!

One year ago I destressed everything and didnt use mist.
Now I use mist and dont distress anything.

Mine is quite different b/c I had just started scrapping 12x12 again around April of last year after doing basic Project Life the year before. My style was very simple. I have taken a lot of classes and experimented a lot over the last year.

My most recent favorite.
Thank goodness my photos have gotten way better!

I hadn't even re-started scrapbooking a year ago! This is a fun idea though, I will have to remember to do this comparison at some point.
I know when I look back at LOs I did a couple of years ago, the major differences are that I did not do any journaling directly on my LOs, just on cards and I do not use as much cardstock now.

|Posted: 7/5/2013 11:21:23 AM|Strangely enough I posted a layout a year ago on the same topic as this week, so I can really do a side-by-side comparison!
From a year ago:
I was definitely using a lot more paper rosettes a year ago, as well as more border punches. I need to get a border punch back on my desk. Right now there are just regular shapes, no borders, and I always find I use whichever punches are sat on the corner of my desk!

|Posted: 7/5/2013 11:24:45 AM|Great question. All my older albums are packed away because of my remodel, so I can't peak back, but I think:
last year--less layers behind photos, more punched borders, more inked edges, everything straight on the page, less embellishing close to the photos
this year--more layers, more tilting, fewer punches, less inking, more spraying/droplets, more embellishing close to the photos, more embellishing that is intended to look haphazard but isn't
Overall, I would say my style has become messier

Here's the most recent layout posted on my blog:
And here's one posted last year around the same time:
Not much has changed! I still love washi, flowers, thread, mists...
The only thing I can say is that I don't see to tear my papers as often as I used to!

A year ago, I basically never did a one page layout unless it was the first or last one in the album. Now I do a lot more single page or even if it is the same topic, my two pages don't look like they are supposed to go together as one. I also use more embellishments thanks to Glitter Girl. I love mist and washi and I don't think I had either a year ago. Oh, I just about never use cardstock anymore!

Mine are pretty much the same. Not much difference other than maybe more sequins and shiny mist

great question and love seeing all the layouts! mine is still linear, but with mists, paint, distressing, inking, and more fun!
|Posted: 7/5/2013 2:06:40 PM|My style changes regularly but I guess I was a bit messier :
now: using LOTS of layers and gelatos
|Posted: 7/5/2013 2:27:00 PM|I came into my style about a year ago: "A" side papers as background, 2-3 patterns, 1-3 photos per page. I would work through one collection until I used it up.
Now I mix up more brands. I pay attention to visual triangles and
try to include embellishment clusters.

Beautiful layouts, mjthescrapbooker !
|Posted: 7/5/2013 6:06:24 PM|This is a fun thread! I tend to jump on scrapbook trends, so my style evolves quite quickly, but I am surprised at how similar these pages are! Here is one of my favorites from July last year:
and my most recent fave:
I definitely add a lot more layers now!

Awesome seeing everyone's pages then & now!
biochemipea - I love your use of hot pink!
Tashak - both layouts are adorable : )
mjthescrapbooker - beautiful pages and use of mist!
senoritascrapper - fun mixing of colections!
jens3 - i love the gold bits in the last layout

This is a great thread. I went back and looked at my last layout and one from last year and it was more linear. So fun. I think I am going to scrap lift last years and this years as a challenge.
Thanks for the idea.
And great layouts.
