I'm always excited to work with 'new' images and swapping is a relatively inexpensive way to do that. If you're interested in swapping 5-10 images (with lots of time to stamp 'em) post here and we'll talk details. Thanks!

Definitely 'interested', Marshia, but the details may determine whether I can actually join in.

The # of images is definitely not a factor. I can do 10 easily--with many Halloween stamps that have never met ink.

Happy you started this, 'Eager'!

If we're just stamping them, count me in. If we have to color them in and cut them out, I'll have to think about it. Personally, if they're line images, I would prefer them uncolored so I could color them myself. Bold stamps are a different matter.

I'd want mine in living 'black-on-white' & uncut. Where it might get 'iffy' for me, would be if we must stamp exclusively on cardstock.

I am not anti-cardstock, just don't keep an white onhand. That said? I would be sure my images are stamped on sturdy stuff--thickened paper anyone?

Okay then, we'll definitely do a swap. It sounds as if black on white is the preference. Personally, I'd like embossed images if coloring is required. Any issues there for anyone?

I'll leave this thread as is through Tuesday to give others a chance to join in and then I'll assign swap mates. I'm thinking a "due to your partner" date of maybe mid September. How does that feel to everyone? Doable?

Also, let's say 10 images. If anyone wants more than one partner add that to the thread too before Wednesday. K? Have I forgotten anything? This will be fun. Another Christmas in September! LOL

I think 10 sounds doable and the send by date is good too.

Thickened paper is fine by me. Embossing is always nice but as long as its stamped in ink that doesn't bleed when coloring I'm fine with too.

I'm cool with the # of images & working black on white, as well as the timeframe, Marshia.

The 'embossed' aspect? If it is a requirement, I will have to opt out.

I'm willing & able to use solvent ink for my images since it is safe with most coloring, but doing the EP route is just more than I care to do for an multiple image swap.

I figure we can work this out & I'm looking forward to participating. Heck! I may just buy some white cardstock.

Embossing isn't a must have for me either as long as the images won't bleed when coloring

I'd definitely take multiple partners

Woo hoo look out Daniel is gonna get wild and buy white cardstock for this swap

LOL, April! I just walked up the street (less than a block) & bought white cardstock @ Rite Aid!

GOD bless Marshia & Leighann! Both got me thinking what I could get in the way of white cardstock in a NY minute. Marshia for offering this swap & LeighAnn for the 'school supplies' aspect of our August tag swap.

For $5 (including sale's tax) I got a 'Index Cards'! One pack of 3x5 (240 cards) & one pack of 4x6 (60 cards). The fronts are 'ruled', but the backs are plain white!

"Seek & ye shall find", eh what?

Perfect solution Daniel to the CS issue, no trimming required for swapping images either! I love it when a plan comes together!

April, you said you'd "definitely take multiple partners". How many people do you want to swap with, keeping in mind you'll be stamping
10 images for each partner?

Anyone else want to jump in??? There's still time to get in on this swap!

I would love to do this, but I'm afraid I only have 2 or 3 Halloween stamps.

If we did Christmas though, I have lots of those, hehehe!

You raise a good point, Kathy.

While it's Marshia's decision, may I offer a couple of suggestions for those who have fewer than 10 Halloween stamps?

1. Send a few multiples. Let's say you have a good bat image. I wouldn't mind having 3 to play with.

2. Think outside the box image-wise. Go through your images. Got any bare branches or leafless trees? Or a moon with clouds in front? Owls & cats can be Halloween-ish depending on what you do with them.

3. Build some words like 'BOO' using alpha stamps.

4. Make a stamp or 2. Cut a tombstone out of craftfoam & get creative when you ink it. Ink just the edges for an outline or the whole thing for a silohuette.

I'd like to play!
Is there a size requirement? I have a lot of Halloween images but some of them may be on the smallish side and I wouldn't want the recipient to feel disappointed. If we do 10 I could either ten all different but some small or could do repeats of some of my larger ones.

Also I can stamp with Memento ink, which is best for people wanting to colour with Copics, in my experience, or could do embossing, or a mixture of both on different images.

I'm thinking about borrowing Daniel's plan of attack for this swap! I'm loving the index card idea....as I have plenty of those on hand and I won't have to cut them Pretty smart my friend!! Pretty smart!!

LOL! It's tempting to think about swapping with more than one of you crazy & talented peaple, but (for the moment), I'll just do one swapmate that Marshia can match me with.

LOL, April! You don't have to borrow the index card idea--just steal it outright!

Speaking of ideas--and I love how much conversation we're already having--would anyone like some of my images to be done on shipping labels? The paper isn't always easy to color, but you know I love my labels.

A thot for those of us who have small stamps... Apart from just sending several stampings of them, you could do a 'built' image. OK. Let's go back to the mythical small bat example. Stamp it 3 times on a piece of CS at different angles. Use a circle template & draw a circle around them. Instant moon with bats!

Another thing we may want to consider as we plan our swap? Doing our images in a way that our swapmates can actually use them in their pieces. I don't believe there a purely 'correct' way to do this, but might be fun & useful to explore as we gear up to get spooky with this swap...

If Beady can do 3 partners I can too I don't want to emboss though That's just too much work

Daniel, I haven't known you that long so I have to ask what's up with the shipping labels? What am I missing out on?????

I'm off to try to build an image like Daniel is talking about just for fun!!

Dan the man! What a great idea using index cards

I'm curious too about the labels. What coloring mediums work well on them? I'm assuming alcohol based markers would be easy to work with? I'm gonna see if I have any around here to experiment with.

I could take on 2 partners! I think that would be pretty doable for me.

Really good idea Looser!

I'm afraid I still have to bow out of this one. I just looked at my Halloween stamps and they are mostly filled in images, not ones you could color.

But someone do a Christmas one! Or a Fall one, or a flower one, LOL

Images on shipping labels sounds like fun to me...never tried it but would be happy to.

The idea of grouping smaller images together works too. In fact I have an idea for some of my small images now, to make them into something a bit more 'important'.

I'm only going to commit to one partner for now but I'd be happy to emboss at least some of mine if the recipient would prefer that.
Mine might not all be colourable though, some will, but some might be more solid stamps, if that is okay.

Well by golly, we're gonna have ourselves a swap! Yay!
At this time, the only one (besides me )who hasn't said how many partners they want is AngieM76. If I don't hear today, I'll assume one. I'm leaving my options open to fill in any trades that cannot be filled by others.

Beady -3
CaribbeanGirl- 3
LovePug - 2
Daniel - 1
GardenCat - 1
AngieM76 - 1
MichelleD_Utah - 1

There's been discussion and concern about image sizes and how to 'present' the images to your partner(s). My feeling is this... Multiples are fine, obviously I doubt any of us wants 10 of the same image but as Daniel suggested be creative. And don't forget to include sentiments if you have them.
If size is a concern to you send more images than is 'required', or add a 'bonus' to your pkg, ex. a Thanksgiving image or Christmas. You know what's fair.

And as far as presentation ...whether you choose to go the 8.5 x 11 cs route or index cards, keep in mind your partner may want to die cut the images so a little extra space surrounding each image will be appreciated.

I'm already looking thru my images to see what might be fun to share! LOL Who knows I might start stampin' 'em right away.

Look for partner postings tomorrow, Wednesday, 7/24.

Okay, I couldn't resist making a card using a 'non-traditional' stamp and small images. I really like the way the border turned out.

No lie, Marshia, you have a great swap going with this one. I am sooo comfortable with all the options you are providing for all the swappers!

I love your card & left both praise & a couple of questions. That branch border is awesome & the yellow moon on orange CS is so great!

I know I'm not required to explain my choice to do just one swap, but I'd like share why anyway.

As I've begun to test out the stamps I've already pulled, I realize that I want to do some as 'just one image', but I also see lots of possibilities for building with more-than-one stamp. That means I want to mask & do generations & stufflikethatthere. Result? I'm going to need time to build the stuff.

Since a couple have asked about my reference to 'labels'. I spent 13 years as a shipper for Berwick/Offray. We generated tons of labels for each shipment. The labels ranged from 3x3 to 4x6 & there were always blanks that we just threw away. I saved them & used them in my crafting/stamping. Most are plain white, but I still have some colored labels--yellow, pink, blue. Their finish is satin/semi gloss, so not all inks do well on them. Same for crayons & waterbase markers. But I've learned a few tricks to get around those issues. Labels are the same as 'sticker paper'. If you have a 'Staples' or such, you can access lots of sizes, finishes & colors. Buying online? Search 'shipping labels'.

Sorry for the 'hijack', Marshia.

Thanks, Marshia. Never hurts to be polite to the hostess!

Since Marshia has shared an example of a non-traditional stamp, I'd like to offer 2 samples of using 'solid' stamps for our Halloween swap.

Both were done in '07 & employ the same stamp (which will be included in my swap bunch). Since doing these projects, I've picked up lots more technique, but you'll see some generation & overstamping on them. I'm currently working with this stamp to do kissing...

Thanks, April. Be sure to check out Marshia's card. Those bare branches & the moon are wonderful--giving me lots of inspiration!

Ditto about the whole 'image' swap idea!

While Marshia's swap allows swappers to go the 'usual' route of just stamping a bunch of images & passing them along, she's allowed us players to consider other options while staying true to the idea of sending off stuff that involves each of us as stampers. To incorporate what we know or have recently learned. To leap tall challenges @ a single bound. Oops! Got carried away...

Kidding aside. Marshia's swap provides us with lots of wiggle room as artists. And we get to share & inspire one-another!

The discussion so far is worth the price of admission to this swap--a paltry 10 'images'!

Since Marshia is well known for her color 'sense', can we discussion color options?

I have no problem sticking with black ink on white stock, but I wouldn't have any problem if some of the images I receive were colored ink & colored stock. Black on orange?

Marshia has provided good tips about dealing with possible fussy-cutting. And you know I don't mind doing FC. That said, I have some stamps that even I wouldn't want to try FC-ing. With those, I might provide my swapmate with those in a format they can use as is--like a postcard.

Hope that makes sense.

What 'postmark' should I use this time on the envelope?

Joyce. Welcome! Marshia had a sign-up deadline of 7/23, but you may have missed seeing that. If you haven't done so already, send a PM to the hostess, do so asap. I'm betting either she or another swapper would be happy to swap images with you.

With lower humidity & heat, I swear my brain is working better. That's my story & I'm sticking to it!

I've done 10 images that I'm happy with far as quality goes. I decided to stick with black ink on white stock--rather than complicating things by going for other colors on top of it. And after trying lots of different blacks I have, my best results have been with my dye inks.

Will that create 'problems' for my swapmate? I doubt it. Angie is a clever crafter.

I'm upping the number of images I'm sending my swapmate, but only because I want to see how some images look. It's most definitely not 'cause I'm a nice guy...

LOL, Angie! Your reply just earned you more images--including some 'special' treats.

I swear I'm not bragging, but I have my images done & ready to mail to Angie.

I counted more than 10 different images & even had time to play with some of them--masking, cutting--but went strictly black ink on the index cards.

All mine fit beatifully in a business envelope, but I put on 2 stamps since it seems a bit 'heavy'.

Now! Don't nobody start sweating. Marshia has provided us with a generous 'in hand' deadline--Sept. 16 Just remember to allow time for your stuff to travel.

Question for our hostess... If it's possible, would you like us swappers to try showing others the images we sent? I realize that may not be easy.

Daniel, It would be fun to see the images swapped for sure but I'll leave that up to each swapper. If anyone wants to share what they're sending it could be good 'shopping' opportunity for the rest of us. Good idea but certainly not required!

We have another wannabe swapper, Ashjoy has asked to join the swap and because she was only the tiniest bit late for sign up, she's in. I've offered to swap with her, does anyone else want to jump in too? She said she'd be willing.

I made good progress Thurs. stamping some of my images but now it will be a few days before I can get back into the studio. What a nice hostess to give soooo much time to get 'er done! LOL
