I was making a mini album for my dd prom a few years ago. And just don't like like the way it is going. So I was at M's yesterday and thought why can't I use a Smash style album? She has tons of photos so I think that would be ok. I actually decided on one of the Recollection one as they are 3 ring and If needed I can remove add pages.
Has anyone done this before how did it work out?

I have always made regular, and later, due to lack f time, mini books for the first few months of my nieces lives... But now, I just don't have the time! I grabbed the Smash book- baby and just pulled out the pages I didn't want, adhered my photos, added a few other items and voila! Great gift! Will definitely do this again!

Good luck!

I used one of the Recollections ones, and loved it! I used it for our Paris trip this past December. I was tired and wanted to document the trip but didn't want to spend tons of time... did it in 45mins, so it's quite simple, but it's fun for us to look through. Here's mine.

I never finished the one I started last fall (I'm going to, I swear!) but you can see some of the first pages here: New England Mini Smash Book. I really liked working on it, I just tend to lose steam quickly with bigger projects like this. One day... It is a format I would recommend, though!

I know a few scrappers that have used the smash albums. They ended up being super cute! I just bought a recollections one to do as a mini album!

I made this for my DH for his Bday. It's a Recollections album as well.
FL Trip Mini Album

There were a few pages I didn't want to use that I couldn't take out because I wanted to use the other side. So, I just glued the ones together that I couldn't remove. Worked out just fine

I made one to record my 5K's. I printed the Instagram I took and added a title and journaling to one side; the other side I added a pocket that included the race number. If the page was too busy or dark to write on, I journaled in strips on the computer. (This album actually got picked up for publication, so I'm sorry I can't post a link.)

I kept the design the same on every page. I think that helped with the Smash album, since the design on each page changes. That may be the key.

I am using one for my weekend trips and getaways.
We don't normally take big family vacations, but we can manage a few weekend getaways a year.
So I have one Smash book dedicated to them.
I did it in a scrapbooking types style.

I have been out of town for a few weeks and just got back Saturday. I'm slowly catching up. I want to thank the Peas again I love the ideas everyone gave. Jennifer can't wait to see yours published. That is a great idea to keep the design the same. Brilliant! Kiki I was thinking about gluing if I didn't need now I feel more confident about that Thanks! Since I just got back from visiting family I might just think about doing one for that trip. Again Thanks Everyone!

ETA: While visiting family, my grand niece's birthday was a few days ago 12 she lives in England and guess what I gave her, Yep, a Smash book with a bunch of add ons.

I made my smash book into my son's baby book. It was perfect for tossing in the diaper bag and journaling all the 'firsts'. =)

Here's a quick flip of the first half of it.

I'm still working on one I started last summer. I bought one of the K&Co ones at M's with a coupon. I love the pages and try to incorporate them into my album. The ones I don't like I just cover over. It's been a really fun album to make. I think you should go for it.

I used a Reflections band, making a album for my mom. Every year we do a road trip to see my sister in Montana, she takes 2 times the amount of pictures that I do so I had a ton of options! I liked the fact that I could take out paper, add plain paper. Sorry I don't have any pictures of it but out of all the brand that is the one I will make again.
