Kim, I think you've kept up with me through FB. We've lost quite a few Peas, some just stopped scrapping and dropped out, others got annoyed with the changes 2P's have made and don't come around. Sure miss a lot, glad I can count you out of the ones I've missed here!

Stormed off and on all night, think we got about 5 inches of rain (according to my rain gauge on the porch). Glad I got the yard mowed yesterday. Errands to run this morning and my crop tonight so I'll be sparse today.

Have a great Friday all!

Hi everyone!
Had kind of a rough week, but I got some good news today. I have an interview scheduled for Tuesday! I am keeping my fingers crossed that it works out.

My friend is coming over tonight for a girls' night - we are going to scrapbook, eat good food, and watch movies. I'm excited! Just what I need.

I haven't read much chatter, but I see Kim here! hi Kim! I hope you stick around

Have a great Friday!

ETA: If any of you voted on my video for the SC video contest, I forgot to mention that you can vote once every 24 hours! I am getting pretty close to being one of the runner-ups, so if you could remember to vote that would be awesome!!

Here is the link: my video

(For those worried about giving the app "permissions," you can click on "skip" to not allow the app the permissions but you can still vote.)

Monica, the pop up box wouldn't let me skip anything. I had to like the page on FB and allow the video pop app to work before I could vote. Might work differently if you don't go through FB though.

Hi everyone,
I know I've been MIA again. Just a bit busy and not in a very chatty mood.

Well Daniel started work Monday, he is extremely tired, he love what he is doing of course it's IT and that is what he loves. He is the youngest IT guy at the hospital, it funny because all the doctors and nurses speak to him in Spanish and of course he does not speak Spanish "it is not necessary" his words. Well, he is learning, because the doctors and nurses speak English, but they all speak Spanish among themselves and he does not understand much. Guess he will soon. The lucky kid got enough financial aid to pay for all his classes, books and pocket $1200.00. He he not lost the scholarship he would of had an additional $2200.00 that is how much he lost, hopefully now with me on his a** he will get it back for next year. But he is doing well.

Today that Stan of mine, Oh my Stan he decides he want to buy a truck of soil and 50 plants and start planting today in 90 degrees in the middle of the day and wants me to help, who took the day off to spend time with the girls, not with Stan. So I picked up the cuban mop and a bucket filled with water and mistolin (an amazing smelling thinky you put in the water to clean the flowers)and start vacuuming and cleaning already cleaned floors them mom called and I had to go visit. LOL!! Got to think what I'm going to do tomorrow to get out of it.

I have another wedding tomorrow night, how fun...not!!!

Hi Kim, so good to see you. You've been gone too long. I really need to exercise, I'm doing a clean eating diet and I am doing very well with it, lost 14 lbs. and I feel so much better, but I need to add exercise to it and yoga that is my goal. I hope your mojo comes back soon, I love your work. Here is a link to a Heidi Swap mini, It's super easy to make and I'm doing something similar to it for my sister's vacation book, easy easy.

http://www.mycraftchannel.com/Shows/Create-to-Remember-with-Heidi-Swapp/Heidi-Swapp-Quick-Summer-Book/

how are the boys, I almost visit you when we went to Williamsburg, but it was such a short trip that we really did not have time.

Theresa...Hope you have fun at the crop.

Monica...Have fun, that like a perfect night. Keeping my fingers crossed for you and the interview. I voted.

Michelle...I love how she did that book, it's gorgeous I watch the videos.

Tina..Is so cook that Olivia is learning how to cook. Daniel learned since he was like 12 he loves to cook, on the other hand I don't know what Monica is going to do with herself if she goes away to college, she will probably live on salad. LOL. She's going to be so glad she can cook. When does she go back.

Michelle and tina...I can't work in a messy scraproom either. I guess that's what I was doing the digi thing for so long, this room was a mess.

Ok Hope everyone has a wonderful evening. I think I wrote a book.

Hi Monica, I tried voting again too but not sure with the skip option if it worked or not as it kept putting me back to that choice.

Hi Kim.

Nice to see you too Diana.

Been busy all day and previous day with the boys, their friends and friends' aunt. Everyone left at 5:30 (the aunt and her nephews to her house and the boys to their dad's for a week vacation). It is mighty quiet around here.

Hi Kim! I'll give you a quick intro as we don't know each other. I've been a part of this group for about 2 years now. I'm a mom of 3 boys (11,8,and 5), a pharmacist and married for 15 years. I live in Cape Town, South Africa, so my seasons and times are all off for the USA looking forward to getting to know you.

Can't help with the mini's. Not my thing at all.

Diana - So glad Daniel is settling in and found a bit of financial stability too. Another wedding? More family or friends? Had to laugh at Spanish 'not being necessary'. Sean feels that way about Afrikaans and the only way we could persuade him to learn it was if he could learn Spanish too! Haha, it didn't last too long as neither Heinrich or I could answer questions like: " What is zebra in Spanish?" He realised we weren't going to get far.

Had a lovely lazy day off yesterday. We went walking yesterday afternoon up the Tygerberg Mountain (more a large hill) near our home. It was stunning looking down on Cape Town in all directions. I'll post a photo later and show you what snow looks like in CT. The sun is out again today. Weather is just weird for this time of year.

So inspired by Nancy's class. I sat in bed till 11 yesterday morning watching all the videos. Be prepared to see only vacation pages for a while

Michelle, can't wait to see your vacation photos. I'd love to visit Cape Town one day but unless a big lottery win is in the future it won't happen.

Diana, okay, Daniel not knowing Spanish was too funny. Don't you speak Spanish, okay maybe only when you're angry at Stan! Actually I would have thought living where you live it would have been taught alongside English in the school system. I took it in high school and college but since I didn't use it I really can only say a few things. I can understand more than I can speak but only if the speaker is really slow.

Had a torrential rainstorm come up last night and flooded a lot of the area. Actually came in two waves which let me load the car between the two downpours and then travel after the second one. The roads had water over them almost everywhere so it kept the crowd down. Still had a good time with the eight of us that ventured out.

Low key day here. Raining again. Randy is off work and he decided last night that he wanted to go to Nashville but I've talked him out of it. Today is my cousin's miracle baby Jonathon's birthday and I want to go to it at 4 (he was born after numerous miscarriages and a set of sibling twins that were born alive but died within a month). The Kentucky Headhunters are supposed to perform in the concert tonight on the square but doubt they'll get to if the rain keeps coming. It's the last of the free summer concerts. Almost all of them have been rained out this summer.

Need to get my scrap stuff put up because I just came in last night and dropped it off in the kitchen. I taught how to make that stair step card and started putting together a Halloween envelope mini book last night. I'll post the card I made for Jonathon later on. The mini still needs embellishments so it'll be a while before it's done I'm sure.

well we got hit with rain last night too...lots of thunder and lightning (swear it was right over my house). I could see the lightning strikes even through closed eyes...ended up not able to sleep til it calmed down.

A lot cooler today. I suppose that is good, but something about cold air makes it hard to crawl out from under the covers.

I ended up NOT scrapping last night...instead I watched my show and organized some of my new downloads. Trying to come up with a system of labeling that prevents me having to relabel when a designer leaves a particular store, etc. Picasa is puzzling me lately as it's picking up stray files that don't fit the search criteria and I can't figure out why. I'll put in one designer name and it will pick up another designer's products that don't even have a similiar name...wierd.

It was working really well til recently...not sure what changed.

Hoping to get a bunch of stuff done around the house and if weather improves, maybe a few things done outside. Wish me luck. Although it IS National Lazy Day--LOL.

Evening all! Lazy day all day today. Did make it to Jonathan's birthday party and he was so happy to see me so I'm glad I went. Got some cute photos so I'll be doing a page on it I'm sure. Then drug Randy to the concert downtown to see The Kentucky Headhunters. It wasn't a good concert, they did more blues stuff when they really don't have the voices to back it up. It was also very hot and muggy. Still had a good time though, ran into several friends and visited with them.

Morning girls -

Sorry been MIA ... again. I know it will happen a lot this year though.
School started and it was a good first week. Less kids for me, easier classes because almost all of them can read and write as far as I can tell. I'm in 6th grade again working with some teachers I hadn't worked with before, so it's all new and exciting My math class is the same teacher from last year so he's thrilled.

I had to work at J's four nights this past week though...almost all in a row, so that did make it hard. I was very, very tired. Come Saturday I did the 5K Color Me Rad and had a blast but was dragging.

Here are some before and after photos:

Star and I before the race

after the race

I highly recommend doing it if it comes to your area; it really is a lot of fun. It's a charity event where the money went to the Children's
Hospital here. I think next time I will do without the tutu though, LOL. It was a pain to make anyway, and took a couple of nights.

KIM - how great to see you, girl. You look fabulous I miss your work, and you, so hope you can get your mojo back, and stay around again.

MONICA - so happy to see you too. I know it's been rough for you lately, so sending you some hugs girl.

Ok, better go...I need to do something productive today.

Have a great day.

Hi Sweet Peas!

We are having a nice weekend. I did zumba with Olivia yesterday and went to a Mustang show with Ron (I was humoring him...didn't want him to have to go alone ) and saw the new Percy Jackson movie. Grif read all of the Percy Jackson books this summer, he's been counting down the days til the new movie came out. I thought it was just okay, but he really liked it, which was all that matters.

My work life continues to be kind of crazy. I am a speaker for United Way and have started doing the campaign kick-off speeches. We are also in the process of acquiring another nonprofit, they were in financial distress, so we are going to try to absorb their staff and continue doing the services that they were doing. I think I will continue to be pretty busy with that for another week or two and then my part will be over and one of my VP's will take it from there. My work stuff continues to go well, I've been really blessed and fortunate to have made that move when I did.

Well, I need to run Mallory to youth group. I hope all of you are having a nice weekend!

Tina

Tina, thanks for the review on the Percy Jackson movie, I'll wait for redbox instead of going.

Another lazy day around here. Went to church, came in, took a nap, went back to church and other than fixing a light lunch and dinner and washing the dishes, I've not done anything else. I'll be exhausted tomorrow, LOL.

Did upload Jonathan's card. (link there). He liked it (he's 3) but his mom and dad both loved it! Angie wants to learn to make them.

Had two people from church tonight tell me they're starting to scrap so may have some new people at the crops.

That's about it for me.

kids are gone, so I ended up spending weekend with my mom. Had another flat tire (nail in it) but this time caught it before I ended up stranded along side the freeway. But when I went to the tire store to get it repaired, the store was surrounded by police cars (7 of them)--somethimg about a manhunt for some drug dealer...had to wait for the backlog as the cops had closed the store temporarily. It's always something, isn't it? LOL

Home now, reading the threads and catching up as mom doesn't have internet, much to my and my boys'chagrin.

Wow, interesting story Debi. I'm glad the fugitive didn't come while you were there! Bummer about having to get the tire fixed (or even worse if you had to get a new tire) but glad you caught it before getting on a big road.

Glad to see you back too. I decided yesterday that I wasn't going to keep posting stuff just to keep the thread alive. I think it just makes me look sad to be the only one on here. So if the traffic doesn't pick up with other people posting I'm thinking this thread is close to being over.

THERESa I don't feel that way at all...I love reading your posts and never have considered you "sad"--I'm grateful you keep posting. I hope you continue. Summer is always extra quiet so don't give up yet. Besides I personally have no issue with the thread being dominated by one or two people...it's still a way to connect and I know it gets read. Besides people seem to flit in and out. Granted some of the regulars stop coming but I'm noticing they aren't posting on FB either.

Now if I'd just etch some time to scrap I might have more to share. LOL

Just popping in to say I'm still alive! Lol barely but alive..... This postpartum is kicking my butt still. I tried to go back to work cause my mat leave was up and lasted all off two days before taking a sick leave. I was under the impression that I could still collect EI but after a month (with no income) my claim was denied so now I'm forced to go back to work.

I had some really great times with Danielle my step daughter and my girls this summer but now she has gone off to collage which is bitter sweet. I'm glad that she's spreading her wings but miss her a lot ( strange how you can grow to love someone so quickly!) In the bright side I look forward to sending her care packages.

I haven't scrapped in eons and miss it terribly but just can't find the time it will to scrap. I have purchased PL lately so hopefully that will jumpstart me again.

I hope the thread doesn't stop! I'm still here too!

Thanks Debi for saying you like to read my boring stuff, you're sweet. I'm not leaving the thread, just not going to post just to be advancing the thread anymore. If people are reading it they need to post too. If no one is reading, no sense posting. I do think you're right, end of summer and school starting back has everyone busy but the thread has been slowing down all year. I think people are doing more Pinterest than anything else. Lots of inspiration, no chatter. I love Pinterest but also love interacting, even via cyberspace, with my Peas.

Nylene, hurry back. BTW, you didn't post your last layout on the thread but I still saw it.

Tossa, I feel your pain. When I go back to work it's going to kill me! I know you've had the baby to keep you super busy but I've gotten quite lazy being home and sure am not looking forward to getting back into the groove of working. Of course, first I have to get a job to go back to.

It's gorgeous here for the next two days. Tomorrow will be a golf day and I'm going to try to get some outside reading time today but HAVE to do some housework first. I finally pulled the bookshelves out in the guest room and painted behind them yesterday so the whole room is now a nice shade of tan. This morning's duties include putting everything back. I took a car load of books off yesterday so it'll be a lot easier and look nicer for sure.

Found out one of the cans of Jones Soda that Jeremy was collecting (yes, still here) had somehow leaked on top of the cabinet, messy, to say the least. They were collectible holiday cans. They're in the trash now. Did go ahead and save the bottles he has. One set is a Christmas Holiday set with flavors like Turkey and Dressing--yuck. He should take it home! Also saved the two special bottles that his old girlfriend had made with their photos as labels. He certainly can't take those home and I can't just throw them away. I finally took down all his awards, he won't take them home either. I have them stored away, who knows why, not likely he'll ever want them but his kids/grandkids might like to see them. Made the room look much larger just removing the two wall length shelves.

Hope everyone has a great day!

My friend Paula's Dad died suddenly. Please keep her in your prayers. She found him and she's having a rough time. She lived with him so it's going to be really hard for her to adjust. Wasn't so bad when her Mom died last year because she had Alzheimer's and she watched her slip away for years.

Got the guest room put back together, waiting for Randy to get home from work. He wants to run to Evansville to get his comic books and I need to pick up something now to take to Paula. She's not a flowery kind of gal so I'm going to try and find something like a windchime or print or something instead.

Sorry to hear of your friend's Dad passing. I think the windchime or print is a great idea!

Didn't get much done around here today. Yet another day of procrastination at its best!

My friend Chrissy W is coming by in a few minutes to work on some PL with me so that's exciting! We haven't been able to get together irl in what seems like forever.

Sorry to hear of a friend losing their dad. I love the wind chime idea though.

Been gone so not on the computer. Going to a movie (Star Trek) in a couple hours with a friend and her nephews. My boys are still gone.

Haven't gotten much done on my to-do list. Theresa send some of your fixing mojo this way, would you?

Tomorrow is another day and another opportunity, right?

Couldn't find a wind chime that seemed to be the right fit but did find a western themed metal photo frame that I hope she'll like. It has a cowperson (can't tell if it's cowboy or girl) leaning down at a cross while holding onto the rein of a horse. It's positioned to the side of a photo frame and it's all encircled by a rope. The whole thing is made with a rustic looking metal, even the rope. Sounds really weird but it seemed to be what I needed to buy so that's what I got.

Also got some stuff to make a new wreath for my door. Going to use Burlap as the base. Not sure when I'll get to work on it but hopefully before Fall gets here.

Just watched Duck Dynasty, made me cry at the end. It was sweet. The other brother is now going to be seen in the show as well. He's a clean shaven Pastor. Good looking guy, probably what the others would look like if they shaved.

Golfing in the morning so best get to bed.

THERESA I'm still waiting on that MOJO delivery...even though I vowed I'd get up and get busy this a.m., the rain and gray has zapped my ambition...so I've managed to waste a couple of hours surfing the web, but now I've got to buckle under and be productive...oy!

My book is calling to me...I m-u-s-t resist!

Catch you later.

Debi, I've done my best to shove Mojo into the computer but it just doesn't seem to be flowing!

I'll need some more mojo myself this weekend because I'll have to finish cleaning my messy den up, my friends Paula and Diane are coming to stay with me next week. We're having a slumber party, LOL. Paula's Dad is the one that just died and she asked if she could come next week just to get away. Diane decided it would be more fun if she came too. For the newbies, Paula is my real life BFF. The older Peas know Diane, she came with me to Scrapfest. Both worked with me at the hospital. Randy just rolled his eyes. He likes both women though so he'll be fine. We're going to the flea market and the local second hand shops and Diane wants me to help her make a resume. Not sure if they're coming Monday or Tuesday but know they're staying overnight. Glad I got the guest room finished.

Here's the sympathy card I made for Paula

Theresa, I am so sorry to hear about Paula's dad. The only consolation is that her parents are now together. Sending hugs and prayers for her. How great that she and Diane can come visit you. Give Diane a hug for me. I wish I could go Flea Marketing with you!! Had to chuckle about all the stuff in J's room. My guest room is still FILLED with lots of DD's stuff. Granted, they live in a tiny apartment and don't have room for all of her Japan stuff. Someday she'll take it all. She empties a drawer or 2 each time she comes to Utah.

Debi, I'm sure it's weird when the boys are gone. Your home probably seems so big and empty. Glad you can spend some time with your mom, even if you don't have computer access.

Michelle, how is your back doing? I'm so achy tonight after standing for 2 hours on cement floors while being a guard at the Fair. It's always a long week. Hope you are getting some good relief.

Toni, I don't have Facebook so couldn't see your photos, but congrats to you on doing the run. I'm proud of you!

Tina, when does Olivia go back to school? I'm sure it will be hard to see her go. Glad she's doing some cooking. Hope it gets better.

I came home so tired tonight, but wanted to work on a layout. It started out with 2 photos and changed a dozen times. Not sure I really like it, but it's done.

I'm A Daisy Girl Scout!

I'll be back to chat soon. My 4-H girls did very well at the Fair. We had 5 items go to State Fair (best of show) and the rest of their projects were first place.

Have a great weekend, everyone!

you are such a good friend Theresa. Wish you lived closer.

Have a great time with the girlfriends. And having guests coming is always motivation to clean.

I did clean my refrigerator (there was some crystalized maple syrup on the bottom...yuck) and tossed all the expired condiments and old vegetation. Managed to fill my yardwaste bin with Bamboo clippings and get the recycle and garbage out too. Then cleaned the kitchen...it was quite a job and now I'm having dinner and calling it a day. Don't have much stamina these days.

Off to watch my soap.

hello!
Been a bit busy around here! My scrappy night with my friend went great. We had a blast scrapping, eating junk food, and watching movies - we were up until 5am on Saturday morning! So I definitely dragged on Saturday. Sunday, my cousin treated my mom & I to dinner and the comedy club. It was so much fun! Only my 2nd time at a comedy club, and it was a great time.

Monday I applied at a university so I can finally finish my bachelors degree in accounting! It is going to be A LOT of work, but I am up for the challenge. The courses are 8 weeks - so the same content as a full semester class, but crammed into half the time. I will probably have very little time for scrapping once classes start at the beginning of September

Tuesday & Wednesday, I interviewed with a credit union and a bank. Both interviews went great, but I weighed my options and decided I'd enjoy working at the credit union more. But I was definitely in a hard place because the branch manager at the credit union said she wants to hire me but that the HR manager wants to interview me herself before a firm decision is made. In the meantime, the branch manager at the bank offered me the job and was very anxious about a response! So I had to coordinate everything and the bank lady said it will be okay to have a few days to make a decision, and I am interviewing with the HR manager at the credit union tomorrow. Whew! Too many interviews in one week. LOL. Oh, and at the same time I had gotten 3 calls from other people wanting to schedule interviews!

Today was really an off day. Didn't feel too hot, and had some bummer news. But I am hoping to have a nice, relaxing weekend and turn it around!

Theresa - So sorry about Paula's dad. I'll keep everyone in my thoughts & prayers.

Nylene - Good for you for scrapping! I've been feeling the same way lately, too tired to scrap. I end up reading or sitting on the couch instead.

Morning. Not a good night. Worn out and couldn't sleep in.

Evidently I got into whatever I'm allergic to again yesterday (at the golf course this time) and I spent a long night with an allergic reaction up the entire inside of my right leg. I had a couple of bites on my ankle and right below my knee were a couple that with the red mark that it created looked more like a long scratch (about 5 inches long). I put stuff on it immediately and didn't have any problems til in the middle of the night. I must have scratched them in my sleep, or rubbed my legs together and irritated it because it caused a inflammation effect that went the whole leg. Literally started on the inside edge of my big toe and went to the groin. I was up putting Witch Hazel and antiinflammatory creme at 4 a.m. At one point I thought I was going to have to go to the ER to get a steroid shot. It's better this morning but I have whelps up my leg. Think I'll be doing pants for the funeral today instead of the dress I planned to wear.

Monica, wow, lots of choices for a job. Sounds great! Know it sounds crazy, but I'd try to get the one that will be the easiest if you're going to go back to college.

Nylene, I'll give Diane a hug for you. She mentions how much fun we had a lot. She really wanted to go back this year but with me not working it just wasn't possible.

Debi, I won't even tell you how much stuff I've found in the fridge/freezer in the past. I also had spices that were dated to expire in the 80's last time I cleaned that cabinet out.

Have to get off here and get with it. I found my Aunt Ruby a Tess Gerristen book she hadn't read at Barnes and Noble's discount rack the other night and I need to take it to her and some green peppers that my friend Joann brought to my Aunt Joyce this morning before I head back to Ohio County for the funeral.

Paula did good last night but keep her and her sister in your prayers. Oh, I forgot to mention, someone T-boned Paula's van yesterday. The idiot ran a red light and totally Paula's van. She wasn't hurt, thank God, but I bet she's sore today. Witnesses stayed and told the police what happened so it was the other woman's fault although she tried to say it wasn't. I know it sounds crazy but the wreck kept her mind off the funeral so I'm thinking it was a God thing. Oh and the obit that they ran in the local paper listed her name as Paula Smith and her husband Perry. Her name is Paula Smith Perry, she's not married. We had a blast with that. Lots of laughter at the funeral home, her Dad would be happy.

Quick check in before I hit the road this a.m. 2 more days and then I plan to hibernate a day or two.

Theresa and Debi .....you mean to tell me condiments and spices expire???? Do you think the spices I got in my spice rack for my wedding in 1967 are near expiration ? Who knew?

Hello Monica! You are in my prayers for the best job for your situation . It's so nice to see your smiling face on this thread.

Gotta run. Be back later.

ROFL Nylene, the wedding spice rack is why my spices expired in the 80's! I finally took it off the wall when I painted the kitchen. Had been hanging in the same spot for almost 30 years. I didn't even know what some of the spices were.

Funeral went well and the family held it together. They did the military 21 gun salute at the cemetery which was really nice. Rain held off too and it was in the high 70's. Took a lot out of me though because I've not had the energy to do anything since I got home. Of course the darn poison ivy or whatever I got into at the golf course yesterday is driving me crazier than normal.

Monica posted on FB this afternoon that she got the job she wanted. So congrats Monica!

Good morning Peas! Happy Saturday!

Sorry that I've been scarce, my work schedule continues to kick my tail and when I'm not there, I just want to be with the fam. Olivia leaves for college on Thursday. I'm not feeling sad like last year when she left, I think that we know what to expect, so it's okay.

I did do a bit of scrapping while waiting for Mallory at church last Sunday. I will try to get those scanned and posted. If I get my housework done this morning, I may have some time to play later today, which will be happy.

Other big news at our house...Mallory went on her first date last night. His name is Noah and he seems like a nice boy. Neither of them is old enough to drive, so Ron dropped them off at the movies to see Despicable Me 2 and the whole fam picked them up after the show. I think we overwhelmed the poor boy, but it was cute.

Theresa - I'll say a prayer for Paula. I'm glad that she is getting through it okay...also a huge bummer about the car accident. I'm glad that she was okay and that it helped distract her a bit.

Monica - Congrats on the new job and getting back in to school.

Debi - Take care of yourself and I hope you find some energy & mojo.

Nylene & Toni - Hi there lovely ladies!!! I hope all is well with you.

Tossa - Post partum can be such a huge bummer. If it hangs on, you should ask your doc for some meds if you haven't already. I had it with one of my kids and I was really stubborn about refusing medication (thought I could tough it out), so I lived with it for a year and finally broke down and got meds. I felt human again a week after I started the meds and then weaned off in a couple of months. Take care of yourself.

Well I guess I should get off this computer and get that housework done. Have a great day ladies!

Tina

Well the rash on my leg is worse. It's almost a full straight line now up the inside of my leg. I've talked myself into Shingles. It actually makes sense since I've had a rash off and on for months and it always follows a nerve. Especially since I had quite a bit of right groin pain for several days before the rash broke out. I thought I'd pulled a muscle climbing on the ladder. Anyhoo, I took Benadryl last night and when it wore off at 2:30 I got up and took more. I slept til 10:30 this morning! After not sleeping well for two nights it was very welcome. Problem is now I can't get in to see the NCP til Monday (she's there til 12 today but full already). Actually I think the receptionist didn't ask her or she'd have seen me. I could be at her office in 15 minutes. She put me on hold for a minute to make me think she was asking. I'll see her at church tomorrow and maybe she can tell me then and avoid an office call. Yes, I'm going to be one of those friends that ask medical advice out of the office tomorrow, LOL.

Tina, how exciting for Mal to be on a first date. I would have died if the whole family picked me up on mine! I remember when Jeremy came home for the first summer break from college. I was actually looking forward to him going back. Love him dearly but our routine was just a mess the whole Summer. I was packing his stuff up for him! Funny how that doesn't seem so long ago but it was in 2001.

Going to clean my scraproom today. I am. I am. I am. We'll see.

Spices expire? Drat now I have to tackle that cabinet too...well no hurry as I never use any of them anyway. I was more concerned with getting rid of the mayonnaise that was open in the refrigerator but had expired 2 years ago...amazing more of us don't die of food poisoning, but I'm a farm kid...iron stomach...raised on raw milk, not afraid of a little dirt (ate fruit and veggies freshly picked without washing them first or our hands--no sinks in the fields), and heck Mom always defrosted the turkey for a week on the counter and then after it was cooked, left it out on the counter for another week while we nibbled off the bones...and heck the local store always kept the eggs in a basket not refrigerated...

MONICA B wow so many job options...girl send me your resume (email) and tell me what kind of jobs you're being so successful at applying for; maybe I can emulate you.

THERESA that allergy reaction sounds dangerous...do you know what is causing it? SHINGLES? Ouch I hear that is awful and hangs around for so long. Been considering asking my doctor whether there is a shingles vaccination since I had chicken pox as a kid...I feel for you.

TINA I hope you didn't embarrass Mallory and her date, Noah too much. It's so hard to start dating. My family was relentless with me when I started noticing boys. I can understand why my brothers chose to wait to date til they left home.LOL

Been sorting through papers today...way too many...not sure what to keep, what not to keep and how to file what I want to keep, but I'm determined to go through this huge stack (covering an entire table and I'm not jesting)...it may be a more than one day job though as it's is taxing and boring.

Took a break to read a bit and now I need to do a quick sweep of the house to prepare for the boys coming home tomorrow and I should make a grocery list for next week. Note to self: when you throw away the old food you have to buy new food.

Debi

Well I didn't even go into the den much less get any cleaning done. It was just too pretty to stay inside, only 77 for a high. I did get the yard mowed and the apples picked from the tree finally. They are too small to mess with (yes, I'm lazy) so I took them to the church and added three large bags of small yellow apples to the fresh veggies that they give to the needy.

Debi, my grandmother used to fix a huge meal every morning. She'd put it all on the large table and throw a tablecloth over it. We'd eat off and on all day and the farm hands would come and go. They weren't rich enough to hire farm hands mind you, the neighbors all worked together to get the crops in. They took turns at each others farms. Whoever's crop was being worked on provided the food. LOTS of people in and out all day, always plenty of food. We never got sick. Best food ever!!!

I have no idea what I'm allergic to. Joyce says she thinks it's poison ivy but that usually spreads out everywhere and just itches. This hurts and only itches if I touch it. It also is following one line down my leg. I've wrapped it up with gauze so I won't rub my legs together when I try to sleep. Hoping it looks and feels better tomorrow.

Headed to bed. Randy's off tomorrow so not sure if we're doing anything after church or not. He's been reading the first book from the King and Maxwell book series by David Baldacci and he is almost done. Can't get him to order on my Kindle, he wants the "real" thing. May convince me to go somewhere to get it.

Theresa, your rash worries me. If it's shingles you need to get on an anti-viral ASAP. Dad had shingles that lasted 7 years, but they began before the anti-viral was available. I know there is an immunization but it it VERY expensive and most insurances don't cover it. Hope you can get a DX and relief.

County Fair is over and things will start to settle down. I do have to go to a county up north on Wed. to help judge their Fair. We pick up the projects tomorrow and kids start school the next day. The summer is over!! (sigh)

I've worked on a layout on and off in the evenings. I'll try to get it scanned and posted tomorrow.

Tina, I had to laugh about the family picking up Mal and her date. She may never forgive you! I'm sure she was really OK with it. Can't believe how much she's grown up since Kid Nation.

Monica, congrats on the job!

I'll be back later in the week to chat.

Hey girls -

Sorry so MIA...I just can't seem to keep up with everything anymore like I used to.

I'm back at J's working Sundays, so the whole weekend through Monday night is back at J's, and then on Wednesday nights also. So I'm a little bit tired trying to get back into the swing of things. I barely scrap anymore either...it's sad. I'm getting in a funk, I know, but trying not to...

Of course I got a cold already...so I'll be visiting the Nyquil tonight.

I haven't read everything... but...

Diana - Yeah for Daniel.

Theresa - I don't get bored reading your posts; I have a way more boring life than you do, believe me. I'm sorry about your friend's dad. Both of them back to back can't be easy any way you look at it.
Give some hugs to Diane, too.

Tossa - Sorry you're going through the postpartum blues. Hugs, girl.
That can be difficult.

Tina - How cute about Mallory's first date. Glad you're handling O's going back to school better this year. That must be hard though.

Nylene - I'm so impressed how dedicated you are to your scouts. That's a wonderful thing. I know Kevin loved scouts, and remembers it fondly.

Debi - I'm glad you and Theresa are holding down the fort here. Wish I could participate more, and hopefully I will again someday. Lately it's just been a little tough.

Monica - Hope you're doing ok.

Kim - Did you come back to visit yet? Are you scrappin' yet?

Anyway, I need to get going. My nose is constantly dripping, and it's disgusting and driving me nuts

I need to finish some laundry too...

Love you all.

Went to Nashville, TN with Randy after church. He found some old comics and I got a new pair of cowboy boots, yee haw! Have been looking for a pair of affordable comfortable leather ones for a couple of years. Found them at the Boot Barn and Randy talked me into getting them. Paula wants me and Diane to go horseback riding with her so I'll need them anyway.

As for my rash, I saw my friend/nurse practitioner at church today. She was furious with her receptionist for not getting me in yesterday and told me to call her cell phone next time. Same receptionist that got fussed at last time she didn't listen to me, you think she'd learn. Anyway, she doesn't think I have Shingles, said I wouldn't have been able to have her touch the area if I had without having severe pain, it doesn't hurt at all today. She also said that once you have Shingles once you never get it again so she didn't think that was what kept occurring this summer. I don't agree there. I have a friend that has had two bad outbreaks and she was told it was because she didn't treat the first one correctly. She also said it could be Poison Ivy but it looked more like a form of the herpes virus (like the one that causes cold sores, not the venereal disease one, LOL) since it is traveling the nerve route. She said she'd need to culture it but since the steroid creme I put on it yesterday is drying it up not sure she will be able to or not. Not sure if I'll go to her office in the morning or not. It is much better today. If it looks even better in the morning, I'll cancel the appointment. Since I've done zero cleaning I really should plan on spending the morning doing that. I'm sure Randy will want a nap tomorrow afternoon since he has to go in at 3 a.m. and has been out all day. Can't clean with him sleeping since the den is across the hall from the bedroom.

Typed my novel there before I read the comments, Nylene, you just backed up my shingles lasting more than one time theory!

Toni, can't imagine working as many days a week as you do without it wearing you out!

No blisters so cancelled the appointment. Did wake up once in the middle of the night itching but the itch creme stopped it so I'm going with Poison Ivy and moving on.

well out of the 3 possibilities (poison ivy, shingles or herpes) I'd pick poison ivy as the best of the worse. The other 2 can be repetitive and very painful...and I known several people who have had extended and repeated outbreaks of both. So no, Shingles is not a one time deal.

Ok the kids opted out of Frisbee camp...I'm disappointed. They got home albeit 2 hours late last night from the week with their dad (not sure why every time he has them an extended amount of time, he brings them home late)...and without their headgear or medicines. Called this morning to ask them to drop them by (they refuse--saying I need to come and get them). That infuriates me as I didn't forget them and I don't want to spend 1.5 hrs round trip and gas money to go after them when I think it's their responsibility. After all I sent clothes (they requested since they refuse to provide enough clothes for the boys to spend a week with them) and their meds and headgear. This is our 2 week vacation slot so the boys aren't scheduled to go to their dad's--thus no way to pick up stuff they left. What would you do?

Have a meeting mid day and then I hope to get some stuff done around here with the boys...since they didn't go to camp they can help with chores.

Debi, I'd say it's their responsibility to bring them to you. Okay, granted, it's really the boy's responsibility to keep up with their stuff but since they can't drive their dad (note little d to denote lack of importance) should be held accountable to make sure they have everything they came with. Not sure if you still have contact with the lawyer that did the child custody arrangements or not, if so call them and ask. Also, you might concede to meet them half way THIS time only.

Debi, I agree with Theresa, that it's his job to see they leave his home with everything they need. Isn't that the role of parent? I'd offer to meet half way too.

Theresa, glad you don't have shingles. Dad was so miserable, they just never completely cleared up and would flair every few months for 7 years. How are things looking on the job search?

Toni, it sounds like you are working so much that you don't have time for you! Wish I lived close and I'd whisk you away for a little girl time. Hugs, my friend.

Tossa, hope you are starting to feel better. It is so hard to have a new baby and have some depression too. Hang in there. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Finished a companion page to my Daisy Scout page. I'm getting through sooo many scraps with my scrapping this month. I love seeing my bags get thinner and thinner.

Theresa, I had a rash kind of like that when I had bad varicose veins. It would clear up with the creams but always came back. The vascular dr. said it would never clear up for real until I got the veins taken care of. Got the closure procedure and haven't had the rash since.

Hello all!

Melanie, that's interesting! I'm certainly at the age to get varicose veins and have some in my ankles. I think it's Poison Ivy though, actually found a couple of spots on my left leg yesterday too.

Waiting for Randy to get out of the bathroom so I can get in there. Paula and Diane will be here at 8 (earlier unless they run into traffic, Diane is always early). Plan on hitting the flea market and little antique style shops all day. At this point they are not staying overnight but who knows by the end of the day what will happen. Diane wants to stay, Paula thinks she needs to get back to the house so she can get an early start on doing stuff tomorrow.

Whatever the way it goes, I won't be back on here for the rest of the day so someone else will have to keep the thread going.

Hi everyone!

Sorry I've been MIA. It has just been so hectic the last few days. I had 4 kids for most of the weekend - first a friend's little girl (ooo, that was fun. Got a good dose of pink and Barbie; she's 5)for Friday night, then Ruan's friend slept over Saturday night and only got fetched at 12 on Sunday. The neighbour's sons were in and out most of Sunday too. Feels like Grand Central here these days...

I just HAD to post This photo of the snow for you girls. Nylene, it's on FB but I'm at work so can't link it to 2peas right now. I'll see what I can do for you later, lol. This is about the worst snow we have ever had in Cape Town, at least in my lifetime Also the closest I've ever come to the stuff.

Tossa - So sorry to hear about the depression. I suffered from it after Kyle (my 5 yr old) was born but didn't get diagnosed till a year later when DH and I picked up marital problems. Still on meds as my Mom was diagnosed with cancer and her passing, well, I tried recently to go off but sank right back after 2 weeks. Please get help. It really does feel like a light-bulb going on when it kicks in.

Debi - They forgot the gear, they need to get it to you.

Monica - Congrats on the new job!

Ok, getting busier at work, so I'll be back...

Hi MICHELLE. so you got some snow. Can't say that is unusual around here but I know in areas where it is, it can be quite exciting. We, Seattlites, respond to SUNSHINE much the same way. LOL

As for the ex and the headgear and medicines, it is still at his house. Now you all have the same response I do (If I'm the parent on shift and my kids forgot something I'm responsible to make sure it gets taken care of) but from a narcissist's perspective, it's always the other person's responsibility. They take NO responsibility for the kids' actions (not even when the boys were little)...the ex didn't keep track of items (frequently lost or left things behind)and never felt responsible to replace any of it. Even when the boys were in 1st grade and he picked them up at school, they left their backpacks on the playground. Now the school was only 6 blocks from their house but they couldn't be bothered to go check for them. I was 1.5 hours distance away and several hours (due to the boys visiting their dad) before I could go to the play yard to look for the backpacks. Fortunately this time I found them but ex's response was if the boys left them and lost them, then it was MY problem to replace them. This has been repeated time and time again...they have borrowed expensive coats and specialized clothing for vacations then left them behind (again blaming the kids and not replacing them). It is one of the reasons I hate to send the boys to their dads wearing any clothes that I've spent good money on or are special in any way as I can never guarantee it to be returned (not always the boys' issue as ex's newest wife will take something and claim she's never seen it or can't find it). These folks are more than annoying to deal with...they are not reasonable or responsible. But I can not control what they do. I'm waiting this one out for now, but I will probably have to retrieve the items.

Kids stayed up late last night so not waking up too early this morning. Not sure what we will do today.

hello!
Thank you for all the sweet comments about my job. On Friday I had a 2nd interview at the credit union, and it went really well. The lady was so sweet - she offered me the job but said she didn't want to overwhelm me, so she wouldn't take an answer until Monday Well, first thing yesterday I called and told her I'd like to accept the position. I start training next week with a full time schedule for just that week, and then start a normal part time schedule after that.

Theresa- It was hard to weigh the options because they were basically one in the same. Pretty similar schedule, duties, same driving distance, etc. The other job would have been every Saturday starting at 7:30am, so that was a big negative of that position. The credit union offered almost $2 more per hour, too! Also, I just decided I liked the environment better at the credit union.

Nylene- It's good to be back!

Tina- aww, too cute about Mallory's first date. I cracked up at the part of the whole family going to pick them up!

Debi- I actually took a class my 2nd round in college where we learned all about interviewing, making your resume eye-catching, and also cover letters. One of the ladies said that my cover letter was what made my application stand out from the rest, and that it even caught the eye of hte bank president! I've also done so many interviews now, and done enough research about them, that I have a few techniques I think work well.

Toni- So, are you working at the school during the days and then J's weekends, Monday evenings, and Wednesday evenings? That is a lot! Take care of yourself, and don't get burned out.

Michelle- haha, sounds like Grand Central at your house! I bet it was fun to have a little girl around for a change, though

Enjoy your girls' day, Theresa!

Speaking of itching, poor Dinky has been itching like crazy the last few days. It's not fleas - she's up-to-date on that. I think it is a skin irritation. Poor baby. Maybe the company that makes her food changed the ingredients? Does anyone have any suggestions?? We should probably just take her to the vet, but neither my mom nor I can afford a vet bill right now

MONICA B YOU need to share your resume, cover letter and any helpful hints you can with me about getting a job. I know I have many of the same qualifications as you but not the know-how to navigate the world of job hunting. HELP please! And CONGRATS on the Credit Union Job...will you be a teller or something behind the scenes?

Spent 6.5 hours taking the viruses off my kids' computer. I'm exhausted but I think it is clean now...argh! Over 1000 infected files...

And the sad thing is we have antivirus software installed. Isn't that supposed to stop this from happening?
