Hello ladies! I too have been lurking around your thread for quite a while now and challenged myself to a freeze. I was doing really well too- I completed my DD using only my stash with just a few purchased items- chipboard sheets and rings for covers, Mod Podge, chalkboard paint and 1 sheet of glitter cardstock. I was feeling great and then... this weekend I had a major hiccup and bought every piece of Chic Tags Good Tidings I could get my hands on along with a few choice pieces of Studio Calico Printshop. I justified this by telling myself it was my Christmas present "from the dog"!!
Now I know that I cannot do this alone. I have been so inspired by all of the Frozen Peas and your support of each other so I would love to climb into the freezer with you! I need to be accountable to someone other than myself because when it comes to scrappy goodness, I can find an excuse for anything!
My scrap area is a corner in our family room. It is well organized but it is to capacity. Physical clutter = mental clutter in my world so I have challenged myself to do 100 layouts before buying anything other than very basics. 3 down, 97 to go.
Thank you for letting me "confess", now it's time to freeze!

ndmomrn,

I too have challenged myself to complete 100 pages before I shop again. It is hard. At least you have a dog to blame the christmas present on; I would just have it be from myself.

I am really wanting to shop for scrap stuff right now. I hope it passes before I run out of adhesive and have to face the scrap store. I am going to buy a lot of adhesive when I go in order to keep me out of the scrap store until I complete my challenge.

I know how you feel. I ran out of white cardstock and had to stop by Michaels to get some. That's all I bought, though! The cardstock was on sale and I instinctively picked up a pack of black and pack of kraft, too. Then I remembered that I didn't need those and left managing to spend less than $3. You can do it!

So let me confess and then I need you all barricade me WAAAAYYYYY in the back and NEVER let me out again! I was doing well but then DD decided she wanted to do an elf book with me and well we all know I didn't have much Christmas to start with so we went and got her a few things. Then I ordered almost all of SS Daily Grind (but that was on my allowed list before I started this). So there you have it, I now have some Christmas stash and DD BETTER do this book LOL! Make room, coming to the back!

Thanks for the suggestions Peas!
ElsaBelle, I really like the idea of coming up with some goals to complete before I buy anymore! I think I will do that!
I have so many uncompleted projects and a ton of unscrapped photos!

I'm a very organized person so my scrap room, although full, is pretty well organized and tidy
I would probably have to purchase adhesive and pay for some photo printing.....I'm assuming that is accepted?

Ok, I'm going to come up with some goals and then I'm jumping into the freezer!

I stopped at the book store tonight and they had paper packs of Hawaiian paper for only 2.99 for 50 sheets of paper, and I have all our Hawaii pictures to scrap. I picked it up, fondled it, looked at all the pretty papers, and thought about coming here to tell you I fell off the wagon, and that gave me the strength to remember the 180 sheets of Hawaiian paper I have sitting in my scrap room, so I put it back on the shelf and walked out with the novel I went into the store to buy.

Thanks for giving me the strength to stay frozen. I made it through my first test of willpower!

Why is the book store selling scrap stuff anyway? I was not prepared to run into temptation there.

I felt this cold breeze coming from my computer and had to check it out!

I'm not frozen, just very, very cold.

This week, I pulled out ribbons from at least 7 years ago and have used them on the last 3 layouts.

Whatdayaknow. They look pretty darn good!

I don't have my layouts online to show, but I can tell you what I did to make using the ribbons so darn easy.

I had about 60 spools of American Crafts ribbons that I had already grouped into colors and patterns that looked good together, but I never used them.

So...... I started cutting 1 foot sections of ribbon, making nice groups of ribbons that worked well together. These are double-sided ribbons, so I cut another foot and laid it out with the back side showing. I never saw the pretty reverse sides when they were rolled up! If front or back looked good with another group, I cut more ribbon and added it to that group too.

Then, I took some 12x12 plastic sleeves that had come with white paper inserts, and carefully slid my ribbons in side by side. One ribbon is laid with the front side up, the ribbon laying next to it is that same ribbon reverse side up.

Right now, I just have these ribbon pages laying flat, but they could easily be secured with Washi along the top if you want to put the pages into a binder and store upright.

Best part? No guilt about actually using a piece that's already been cut and ready to go!

I love this. Why on earth would I want to keep hoarding supplies when I can actually look at them displayed with a memory? I do this especially with 6x6 paper pads. For some reason I think they're so cute that I want to save them for "special" layouts or minis. Any completed project is special!

I'm still sick and coughing and sniffing but I'm determined to get a couple of layouts done today. Who else is scrapping their stash today and what are you working on?

I am hoping to have enough energy when I get home (after being home sick in bed for the last 4 days) to start gathering paper and embellishments for my neice and nephew's album from our family reunion in TX this past summer. I am waiting on the photos from my mom's camera (half of which I took for her lol) but figure I'll use the ones off mine to at least start pulling stuff.

I am also trying very hard to not buy a PL kit on Black Friday. I have reward points that I can use and know that I won't spend much... I want to start PL for 2014 and think a kit would be the easiest way to start, but I am not supposed to be scrappy shopping in the first place!!

Hello ladies. I need to get in the freezer also. I am a buyer of product then do not use it. Recently my DH asked me if I had other people's photos since we had so many. Currently moving my scrap space from my bedroom to a smaller space under the stairs. Went through and donated a lot of stuff, but am determined to get back scrapping to use the supplies I have. I currently do PL, which I have plenty of and am going to do a DD with product I already have. This thread is very inspirational.

I just wanted to thank all of you for inspiring me to use up my older products. I have a bad habit of only using my newest stuff. This thread has inpired me to be frozen for a while and to get in there and dig through that older stuff and use it.

I just finished some Thanksgiving pages from 2009 and I used some really old K&co paper and some stickers I have had for forever. Feels good to use this product instead of letting it just sit.

I am going to join you guys as well. The amount of product I have is obscene. I tried to go in an organize it on Monday and was so overwhelmed. As a result, I cancelled all of my kit club memberships.
I haven't scrapped since last winter, yet I keep buying.

This is going to be hard, because I love to shop. Maybe I can learn to love to save.

I do tend to be a winter scapper, so I should use up some product if I can figure out what all I have.

Hello my name is Maria and I am a scrappy shopaholic. I must stop. I have spent ALOT of money the past 6 months and have only completed a handful of layouts. If my husband knew how much money I've spent he would probably pass out.

Do you guys have any goals you've set to meet before allowing yourself to buy again?

Have you relapsed?

Well new frozen Peas. So glad you can join us. We need all the bodies we can get in this freezer for warmth and support. RoseRose as for goal, my goal is to NOT BUY any scrappy goodies until my year is up that I've set for myself - 8/1/13 to 7/31/14. I am holding true to my goal, haven't slipped up yet. WooHoo!! That doesn't mean I don't get tempted or frustrated...I'm just making meeting my goal more of a priority than obtaining new product that I really don't need or have a place to put. No matter how good the deal....I don't need it.

I haven't set a goal of completing so many pages or projects because I find that with my freeze, I'm more motivated to scrap and if I'd had a set amount of pages to complete, I've already met that.

So for me it's just making it to 7/31/14 and then from there I will take it one day at a time. The only things I allow myself when and if it's needed is adhesive, blades, page protectors and photos. Everything else for me is considered FALLING OF THE FROZEN WAGON.

Again, welcome and I hope you meet your goal and get inspired by all the wonderful frozen peas here in the freezer.

Happy Scrappin'

I posted some ideas on goals on page 11 that might help you make a choice on what will work for you.

Yes, I bought a paper pad after being frozen 91 days. I felt bad at first but that $13 paper pad is helping me a complete a vacation mini, which was a goal I wanted to reach by the end of the year, so I don't feel bad about it anymore. It wasn't the spending that was a problem for me. It was that I was buying and not using supplies. I've been refrozen for 13 days and moving right along on that mini.

I've only set a time goal of 6 months (which puts me frozen until 4/9/14) and at that time I'll reevaluate finances and my stash and probably buy some basics and go frozen again. In the 6 month period, I'm only allowed to buy page protectors, adhesive, neutral cardstock, and photos (or ink/paper for my printer)

I'm trying very hard to not relapse, but I want a sn@p album and pages to make as an organizer for my projects for next year. And with Black Friday sales coming up next week, I am feeling the temptation

Been going back through the post and glad to see you guys doing so well( I just received a little Christmas card kit in the mail today(it was made from someone else's stash)and have been working with it while reading your words). Even though I am not on a freeze I do enjoy being in this thread, thanks for having me.

I am coming in this morning to admit I thawed out a bit this week...I went into Marshall's to buy adhesive, and they had all kinds of new scrappy stuff, Lakeside paper pad, MS punches...I left with about $20 of scrappy supplies-and I got a lot of stuff for $20. So, I am done for a while again. Jumping back in the freezer now!

I've been frozen since July 2012

Wow! You are a true inspiration!

And no, $20 isn't a bad thaw at all. I spent $80 last weekend - but in my defense it was on CM blades, so it doesn't actually count. Put on your scarf and hop back into the freezer.

And I swear - I'm staying frozen ('cause Christmas money from my father doesn't count either! ) until the end of February. I figure 3 months is a good re-start.

I scrapped this weekend and finished three more layouts. I even used some old MM foam stamps and acrylic paint on a layout. It feels good to have emptied one little scrap shelf of paper so far. I still don't have enough room to put all my paper way - yet, but I will get there.

Thanks for all the encouragement to keep scrappin' and stay frozen.

The pictures of my layouts are not the best, but you get the idea.

Hi Frozen Peas. I've been reading all of y'all's posts and I need to be here if you will have me. How many times have I come into my scrap room and held my head and said "OMG?" The waves of new adorable products that kept coming out did me in.

I started buying scrapping stuff in October 2011 and what I have amassed in that time is amazing. Just to start with my diecut machines, I have two Slice machines (9.99 each in M's so who wouldn't?) and lots of accompanying SD cards, a Cricut and some carts, a Big Shot and some dies and embossing folders, many of which haven't been opened and, of course, a Sihlouette Cameo.

I was buying organizing stuff as I went along and for a time it was such a fun game, not that much scrapping was going on, but lots of shopping and organizing. I would go into M's almost every day with a 40% off coupon and got my jollies by scoring some treasure at a bargain. Seriously, every day. Sometimes more. And of course, online. I had boxes coming every week and I would find full collections of things buy shopping all the good online stores. Seriously, I would get boxes and forget that I had ordered them. Not that it wasn't a yummy fuzzy surprise! I would get a box opening head rush that didn't last longer than it took to oooh and ahhh over my new goodies.

Welllllll, that got me to where I am today. I used to love to come in my scrap room. It was my happy place. Now, it looks like my stash threw up all over my desk, floor and walls... and I'm a clutter phobic thrower-outer person, EXCEPT when it comes to little scraps of paper, which I totally don't get. I'll sit and look at a sliver of cute paper and save it. It's so wierd.

About 6 weeks ago, I realized I had to stop the madness and I stopped shopping and cancelled my sub. I haven't bought a thing. I do have a cart full here but it is stuff specifically for an album but I won't pull the trigger on that unless I create some lo's and get my room under control. Yesterday I went into JC Moore just bc I haven't been in a shop for so long and I saw SC Magical paper pads and I really could use that because I don't have much of a Christmas stash and I really like it. I DID NOT buy it though even though it was 40% off! So, I think I may have this shopping thing, if not my scrap room, under control.

This thread has inspired me and I just wanted to share my story. My goal is to quite simply use up all this product that I bought and going forward from there, figure out how to not let this happen again. I'm so grateful that some light when on in my head because even though my hoard is bad... I know that this could have been much worse and that there are people out there that have a more serious case than mine and I do feel bad for the ones that don't realize there is some kind of problem going on.

I'm so sorry for going on for so long. Today, I am going to organize my beloved scrap room. Somehow. There has to be a way for me to get it under control. I have lots of space and lots of storage bins. I'm sure I lost lots of you a couple of paragraphs ago, but I feel good writing this out and sharing with like minded Peas. {{hugs}}

Confession. I broke the freeze this week and bought the FF grab bags.so I spent $21, but it's my Christmas gift. Dh and I are divorcing and in my extended family we just do gifts for the kids, so since these bags are truly a surprise I'll open them Christmas morning when the kids open their gifts. But back to not shipping.

Hi Barbara! Of course we will 'have you'! Welcome to the freezer!

doesitmatter?, sorry to hear about your impending divorce. A little scrappy treat is warranted once in a while. Have at it.

Still frozen after 6 days, lol.

Aaargggg...it's hard to be frozen! Even when it's freezing here in Minnesota...hahaha. I just stopped myself from buying a grab box type offer from one of my favorite lines. I am not telling which one as I don't want be an enabler.

I told my DH to forbid me to buy it and he just laughed.

Welcome to the freezer Barbara.

I finshed two more layouts today, so I have finished 20 out 100 layouts. I am still amazed at how much paper is still in my scrap room. I've used 45 sheets and it is hard to tell that I've used any at all. I may need to stay frozen longer.

1/5th of the way there

Welcome Barbara and thanks for sharing your story. Pull up an ice cube and make yourself right at home!

Didn't get as much done this weekend, but hey, I'm still frozen and that is an accomplishment in itself, for me

Could all of you creative stash busters give me some ideas about alpha stickers?

Have you come up with a scrapping process or an organizational method that encourages you to use the partial sheets of alphas before using an unopened package from your stash?

I realized this weekend that I have a lot of partially used sheets of alphas. Many are still very usable with most of the letters and some vowels left. And yet I tend to skip over those and go for the new unopened packages in my stash. I'm not even sure why LOL!

Tell me your ideas for re-training myself so I dont ignore these partially used packages.

Do you leave some on the table and dont allow yourself to use a different package until they are mostly used?

Do you have a way of filing them that draws your attention to the partially used packages first?

Do you move them out of your stash and donate the ones that have no vowels left?

Do you combine partial sheets of the same color shade/font to make a more complete alphabet?

I use letter stickers/Thickers on every layout and I'm just looking for ways to make better use of my stash. Thanks for your help!

I remember Shimelle saying in a video once that she uses a website or something that she can type in the letters and it will tell her the words she can spell with those letters. You could do that, write them down, and staple them to your partial sheets maybe?

Thanks to everyone who answered my question, lots of great ideas. I am a little behind on my layout a day challenge, but not by much.

I find for myself, the best way to actually use up my alphas is to leave them in my line of sight. Last year, I used up 6 alphas that I had held onto for years...mainly because I put them away and forgot about them.

As for tricks on using the whole sheet after you run out of vowels, sometimes, if the layout is right, I use text speak. Like for a teenager who never lets go of their phone. I know Garden Girl Corrie Jones always puts her daughters' initials somewhere on her layouts.
