I have made 9 layouts and 6 cards so far in the last 3 days. I am using my supplies and loving them. I haven't scrapped in a while so digging and playing in my own stuff has been fun!!

Congratulations Treyaut for making it 160 days!!!

Wow Julie....you're on a roll!

Treyaut - that's awesome! You're doing great!

I've stuck to my frozen status (9 days and counting...hehe). When I was shopping Christmas clearance a few days ago, I had to remind myself to put some things back (cute gift tags that would've looked nice on pages, etc, etc). It's easier to remember not to buy supplies when they're traditional scrappy supplies. Had I accidentally bought them, it wouldn't have been the end of the world, but I'm glad I remembered in time to put them back.

My craft room organizing is going well...my actual workspace is cleared off and I'm getting ready for the Creation a Day (CAD) challenge that starts up on the 14th...thought it would be a good way to jumpstart some of my scrappy goals for the year!

I finished layouts 40 and 41. On layout 40, I really struggled not go shopping for that one, but I made it without exiting the freezer - still frozen. I can do this.

I have 59 more layouts to create before I can shop. I've used 111 sheets of paper on these layouts.

I am almost ready to get rid of all my scraps. I am sick of them.

Bumping from page 4! I guess we are so busy using our stash no one has had time to post! I went to HL today and didn't even LOOK at scrappy stuff. This is quite a feat considering I live an hour away. Ran in, bought what I needed to finish some party favors and left!

I am semi-frozen, but I needed to go pick up a set of replacement blades for my Cricut. I have not used it in over a year, but with my new challenge, I dragged it out of the closet and have used it this week. My blade was dull, so I had to purchase a refill. I admit to buying a container of Recollections wood veneer sunglasses ( making Michigan Snap albums for both kiddos) and a Sizzex Christmas tree die I have wanted forever that was on clearance. In all I only spent $12 at M's and $8 at J's. I will be able to use up more paper now that I can cut again with my cricut! I even saw the new HS stuff and was not tempted! I was able to use a fifty percent off coupon for the blades.

OK, so I know I keep saying I'm frozen and then I buy stuff, but this time I think I'm really done.

This week I bought a large cutting mat so I can stop trashing the cover to my dining room table. I used Christmas money, so I'm not 'really' counting that, but it was still a scrappy purchase. My scrappy space is set up and ready to go.

I have enough adhesive, blades & page protectors. I should be good for a looooong time.

So here goes. I'm jumping in the back of the freezer. I have no crafty projects in my future that would require me to walk into M's, J's, ACM or HL.

I am officially frozen. Whenever I feel weak, I will post here for support. I'm counting on you ladies to keep me honest!!

I have been on a self imposed freeze since Jan 1st plan on staying frozen till Dec 31. Taking it day by day. when my DH heard about my plans he laughed at me I didn't argue with him, didn't say a word
I started a sub with Scraptastic last October and will keep it. Other than the kit I will only buy glue and I might an album! that's it.

I've started out the new year with a goal of not shopping for the month of Jamuary. This covers scrapbooking, clothes, makeup, etc. I just need to curb the excess shopping. I mainly shop out of boredom and/or the thrill of having something new. Figure I'll just take it month by month. I'm still keeping my Cocoa Daisy monthly kit, but that'll be it for me. This is the year I'd really like to see a drop in our family living expenses. Yes, the bills get paid - we just don't need to keep buying so much stuff.

I fell off the frozen wagon I went to JoAnn's to get Aida cloth for cross-stitch piece I'm starting, I walked by the scrapbooking items and didn't buy a thing. Sadly, they didn't have the 16 ct. cloth I needed, so I had to order it online. I found it! but somehow the extra scrapbooking items jumped in my cart and even checked out!

Have you gotten unfrozen?
How long have you gone without buying a thing?
Is there hope for remaining frozen?

So proud of myself today. I was able to sit down and do 6 spreads today. I really liked the idea of using a mood board and only using the items that you grabbed for the board. I used a lot of supplies up that way. So excited. Some of the items I had purchased when I took the photos and never made the time to do them (themed). Still not sure how to upload pics to the gallery. But when I figure that out I will post.

Amber Girl - there is hope. I have nearly 6 months under my belt. Now I can't say it's been easy but it hasn't been as difficult as I'd thought it would be. I stay focused, I don't browse much and even when I do I encourage myself that the goal I've set forth is far more important than the item "I think I need". I've also come to grips that its really just a vicious greedy, addictive mindset (speaking for myself) and I don't like not being in control of something so trivial.

So yes, there is hope you just have to find THAT THING that will cause your spirit to be convicted when you are tempted to thaw. I found mine and that's what keeps me in the freezer.

You can do it.

Amber Girl,

I think there is hope for staying frozen. I have to work on it every day. I've been checking out scrap kit clubs online, but I don't put anything in my cart. I also fondle the supplies when I go buy adhesive, but I only leave the store with the adhesive. Everyone here helps me stay in control of the shopping monster. I've been frozen since September. I've only bought adhesive because without that, I can't create.

Minamoo47young,

Great job getting so many spreads done. I can't wait to see them. I haven't every used a mood board. What exactly is it and how do you use it?
I worry every time I need to get adhesive that I will crack and buy something else, but so far, I've only walked out with adhesive. That is a true need, not a want.

treyaut 6 months is a HUGE accomplishment! I think the most I've ever gone was 2 months and that's because we were moving and my scrapping stuff was packed up.
My goal would be to take my family on a vacation at the end of the year, but that's the challenge, it's so far away and motivation fluctuates where shopping is instant gratification.
How do you live your goal on a day-to-day basis and keep it burning strong?

Thank you all for the encouragement!

I am really enjoying all my stash. It feels good not pushing my current stash aside as I shop and shop and only motivated to use the "new, "trendy" stuff.

Today I sorted through my stash and found some goodies to decorate my planner with... Then I found some other fab supplies to use to make my 2014 goal book. Brand new packages of of goodies that I've owned for more than a year. I loved them when I bought them and I still do...

Ladies, I need to join you and you may want to put me in the back of the freezer so it's not so easy for me to climb out!!! I do better when I set short term goals and build into larger goals so I'm going month by month. When cleaning/ organizing my studio (favorite hobby of mine, btw!), I found I have waayyyy too much stuff so I'm going to buckle down and actually create with it rather than look at it and rearrange it!!!

Things I know I'll need to allow for though are: adhesive, albums (maybe), cricut mat (mine is about shot. I think that's all. Maybe blades for my Cricut.

Thanks all!

Welcome, Princess!

I agree - baby steps are the way to go. If I look down the road too far, I get sad at the thought of not buying any scrappy goodies.

I'm also like you in that I love to organize my stash. It gives me a feeling of satisfaction and it reminds me of all the goodies I already own. Helps to keep me in the freezer.

Hang in there - we can do it!

I have been watching this line of discussion for several months….I have been frozen since April 2013, other than adhesives, albums, and photos. Only have done about 40 layouts, but have another 40+ ready to go (and could make so many more!)

I love the support you give (although I have been watching from afar). Being 2014, I thought I would jump into the discussion to give support as well as continue my challenge. With Archivers closing, I am been on the website looking and looking. Could fill that basket fast!

Going to Europe in late Spring. Saving the pennies for fun there! Frozen is a must….

We can do it! I can do it! I will say that the woman who posted "SATISFIED" for her word of the year, Agreed!

I am new. I have a six-month sub obligation to a kit club right now, but am not renewing at the end and otherwise am frozen as of the start of this year.

I am really looking forward to whittling down my stash by using it.

Irish eyes: I have a lady that I work with that also crafts and she mentioned that I should invest in an ATG gun. I think this will help keep me out of the store more often which will help keep down the want.
The glitter girls video last week mentioned the mood board. I had never heard of one either before watching the video. Basically it was that you grab items that coordinate ( paper, embellishments, etc.) or follow a theme and you only use what you grabbed out. You can't go back to your stash but just use what you pulled. If you feel the need when your all done reevaluate why you needed that missing something to remember to add it next time or leave out next time. I really liked the challenge and made me use more supplies then I normally would have horded because I lovers them but they went great with the LOs. Sorry might not have explained it great.

Minamoo, you explained the mod board well. I'll have to try it.

Now that I'm getting better at resisting temptation, I kind of like going in and looking at what is new when I go get adhesive. I am excited to shop again once I finish 57 more layouts. I will get there. I will stay partially frozen after that though because I am loving watching my stash shrink. I can almost put all my paper away now.

I know as I use up all of one type of product I keep going and looking at the stores to see what is out there (online) but so far I've resisted. It's okay if every LO is not perfect. It just gives me an opportunity to dig deeper in my stash and use older stuff up. I am also liking finding pictures that have a lot of the same color scheme and grabbing a stash and getting them knocked out. It feels so good to get them done so that I can move into my next little pile. Small is better I am finding. That way you are not so overwhelmed.

I would like to join the Frozen Peas this year. I am kind of freezing my whole life. I have too much of everything. I am trying to only buy consumables.

I will buy adhesive or ink if mine dries out or maybe 1 dollar stamp, but no more giant hauls. No more buying because I saw someone on youtube with it.

Wish me luck!

Welcome Cindy! It's very warm and welcoming here in the freezer

I'm two weeks into my 6 month goal and it's been remarkably easy so far. I know it's due to being in the middle of organzing my craft room and I've become reacquainted with a lot of stuff I'd forgotten about.

I also joined the Creation A Day (CAD) challenge that just started today and runs for two weeks....thought that would help kickstart using up some supplies and getting back into a creative groove!

I am two weeks in and so far so good. I have been surprised that I haven't really wanted to shop. I had a small inkling of wanting to go check out Archivers, but really, I had been there in late December and other than albums (which I still have plenty) there's nothing there that I want, sale or no sale. So I didn't go and didn't miss it.

Fourteen days down!

I have done 2 layouts and 8 cards this month so far. holding strong! using my supplies makes me not want to buy. I am actual excited that at the end of my freeze I will hopefully have a small stash left and when I shop I will be able to shop for just what I need or really love.

I just cancelled my Cocoa Daisy main kit. I love it - just don't need it. I don't scrap enough to justify the expense of the kit right now. I'm still going to keep receiving my Day in the life kit at least until my 6 month subscription ends.

I'm feeling really good about not shopping for the month of January!

WOW! I am so impressed with you ladies! I am cleaning out and reorganizing at the moment. But in the process have really accepted that I have too much stuff! I'm pretty sure I could scrap for at least 5 years on what I own - except adhesives. That said, I just subbed to SC's project life kit for 6 months - I think I'm two months in. When that's up I don't think I'll renew. So how does this work - you "freeze" and simply cut yourself off from scrappy expenditures? Is there a modified plan? To accommodate the already in action sub and needed adhesives?

You have a lot of flexibility with your freeze or semi freeze and all are welcome here. Some allocate a small monthly or annual budget, others limit purchases to only photo printing and adhesives. Some have a number of layouts that they will make before buying. Some are on a zero spend. Some only use gift cards given from friends and family... What is important is what will work for you. Welcome to the freezer.

Amber Girl...several years ago there was a group of frozen peas and one of the members made the badges for us. I'll see if I can figure out how to share them with everyone again!

Thank you! hope it's not too much trouble!

Welcome to the freezer.

This made me giggle - for some reason "Welcome to the Jungle" went ripping through my brain!! I am going to the cold zone! I really don't do cold well, at all, so this should be interesting!! My GOAL is to only spend on printing, adhesives, and the SC small PL kit that I already have coming. I will not renew when the 6 months are up. I want to go 6 months using only what I already have - NO EXCEPTIONS!! I just cleared a shelf with no less than a dozen kit club bags - most unopened - still waiting to be loved and created with. Add to that the dozen or more "in progress" projects and truly -- I should shut down for the year! However, I'm not a fool and to think I could go all year would be to shoot myself in the foot before I walked out the door! The second aspect of my GOAL -- be productive: finish two of my "in progress" kits and really work during my BPS Inspired Scrapbooking class - not just read the prompts and move on! WAHOO!beginning the chill …NOW!!

Thank you for explaining this so well! I was wondering what a "mood" board was!

Ladies, I hope you are all being strong and motivated to create with what you have. Welcome to all the new FROZEN lovelies. Come in and help keep us warm and cozy.

I will be having a scrappy goodtime this weekend creating with what I have. I also plan to go through and purge some photos (yes throw them out) that I know I won't ever scrapbook. I am totally okay with that. With all the technology today, my family, my kids have soooooooooooooooo many photos to look back on.

Hang in there ladies and know that I'm in your corner and I'm rooting you all on. YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!

I have finally gotten around to making some Christmas layouts with a themed kit I've had over a year. My laptop has decided to die an undignified death, so that has been keeping me busy...especially backing up all my photos! So using my stash has been very helpful when I need to de-stress.

I walked into TJMaxx today and they had some 6x6" paper pads Crate Paper, American Crafts, Studio Calico that were just begging me to put them in my cart (patterned paper is a major weakness of mine), I looked through them, enjoyed the patterns and walked away!
I've never been able to do that! There's hope for me

Amber Girl,

Great job walking away from the scrap goodies at TJMaxx. It is the bargains I struggle with the most, but I haven't caved. It really helps to have the support of all the ladies on this thread.

I did it!! I went with some co-workers to Michael's yesterday to help them get started with project life. I saw the new mini albums and core kits and put 2 in my cart!! I love the Maggie Holmes kit so much! After walking the whole store I put it back and walked out with nothing!!! I didn't think it would be that hard but I did it! My goal this weekend is to complete a couple of pages and finish the decorations for a baby shower.

Treyaut, congratulations on hitting the 6 month mark. That's wonderful!

I am approaching 40 layouts without shopping. I'm going for 100, but I think I may have to increase that number. I don't feel like I have put much of a dent in my stash.

Sadly, I doubt a 100 layouts would put a dent in my stash Ughh! Do you frozen peas ever feel guilt over the amount of stuff you've accumulated? I've recently had ideas of developing a little, start-up, home-made item business, but it's bogged down by this heaviness of all that I've accumulated for scrapping. It would be a colossal loss to divert my attention to another craft. I have enough to scrap for this lifetime (and maybe the afterlife too ...my new mantra when I see something scrappy I want to buy.

Shoppin' my stash this weekend!

I just finished a layout of my ds's 7th birthday (The year was 2003. Yes, I'm a chrono scrapper. Yes, I'm that behind). Anyway, I used this CM sticker sheet on the page.

Feels so good to use stuff I've had for ages!

Happy scrappin' ladies!

I am with the Big Girls now... I bought a 1/4&1/2 corner chomper{my mauvy bit the dust months ago-after owning it for about 10 years).
