ElleBelle IMPRESSIVE! WOW!

I have no idea where I am at in years, LOL! I WAS a chronological scrapper but somewhere along the line it quit being that way and my albums are all messed up. I do try to put the years though so there is some organization, I will get to it one day, maybe when we have a blizzard this year and are stuck inside.

I have to say I am slowly making scrapping time a habit in my new routine. Oldest just started school this year and youngest is still napping so that is nice. I try to use one of the naps to do SOMETHING scrappy that way I feel better about this massive amount of product.

I am a winner of $10 GC for 2peas from as a Garden Digest winner. Yay Me!!! Now what's a TRUE FROZEN PEA to do LOL!!! Guess I just save it or await another mini workshop and 20% discount offer.

What a blessing though for a frozen pea.

I am putting page kits together to get reacquainted with my lovely stash. Tomorrow headed to scrapbook expo with no Creditcard, debit card or checkbook. Just my $10 bill for adhesive and $50 bill my parents blessed me with.

Saturday I am going to get some scrappy time in.

What are my fellow frozen peas plans?

I am staying out of stores and off of online stores, each day it gets easier. Now when the new SNAP theme cards come out I will need some extra support! I have a thing for SS and little cards UGH!

I am slowly working my way through CADSO, I should be ahead since I know all the challenges but eh.

I admire you for letting go of chronological scrapping. I'm one of those very rigid scrappers that must scrap chronologically. Any other way and surely chaos would ensue. I didn't even like setting aside two layouts for journaling to move on to another layout. I've got to lighten up!

Good for you finding some scrapping time during the day. I remember sneaking off into my scrap room during nap time. It was so nice to enjoy the silence and not be on mommy high alert for a little while. I have one teen and one tween so no more naps around here.

That's great news! Have fun at the scrapbook expo. It will be so much more fun with a little cash in your pocket. I hate the feeling of finding something I LOVE but knowing I can't buy it. It seems like when I have the money to spend I find things and feel like I can take it or leave it.

I am hoping to get a little time in my scrap room tonight. I have a busy weekend ahead of me so I won't be able to scrap again until next week. So hopefully tonight will be productive.

Yay, that's awesome! You can always check out their printables or cut files too. Or just save it. Accumulate a couple more and you have a free workshop.

My birthday is next weekend. Will I be breaking the vows of frozen-ness if I buy myself a Cuttlebug w/my birthday money.

In case you couldn't tell, I'm looking for enabling here.

Miglets - I think there are two reasons why someone is in the freezer. 1). Not spending money and/or 2). Too many supplies on hand. When it comes to a gift card or cash for a birthday, I don't think it counts towards not spending. As far as buying when you have too much - unless you have a room full of die cutting machines, I think a new tool is fine.

Did I help enable you? And happy birthday!

Miglets, I think bday $, esp in gift cards for J's or M's, etc, is acceptable. My thought process over the years has changed from buying too much stash, to buying tools to help me use the stash. If you have been considering the purchase a while, researched it, tried it out, compared it to others, etc... go for it. I of course overbought in tools leading to guilt over buying them in the first place, so just make sure you do the above. It's helped to control my spending habits.

Treyaut, enjoy the Scrap Expo!! My big challenge will come in January when I go to my weekend crop. I plan to make page kits and pre-plan as much as possible. I will probably get a GC or 2 as a Christmas or Bday gift as well which I'll allow for myself to use that weekend.

CaitlinsMommy, good for you for managing to scrap with little ones around. I did it, not often, but I did. I loved when we bought a bigger house that had a dedicated "craft room" for me and the kids. Both of them loved to craft with me. DD was in my space with her friends the night before she left for college this past month and I took a bunch of pictures...they were making wall art for their dorms and friends w/my paper and my cricut... it was such a happy site.
I got away from chrono scrapping about 6-7 yrs ago and have not looked back except to WISH I had not done strap hinge albums!

ElsaBelle, It was strange, yet very freeing to let go of chrono scrapping. It happened that I was getting bored scrapping the same stuff over and over, and then heard of Library of Memories (I bought the book), and decided to give it a try. Okay, I'll admit, I do have a 12x12 box of LO's to put into the albums... maybe I'll do that this weekend as my scrappy project.

Happy Scrapping Frozen Peas!

Gluemore girl, oh what a sweet memory to document with your DD! I love it! DD likes to craft with me for about 5 minutes and DS (14 months) just likes to pull everything out of everywhere LOL!

Library of Memories, I have always been interested, can you tell me more?

Ok girls, I'm new here and still getting used to the 'lingo'.

Frozen pea = not spending?

I try so hard not to spend. I look at the projects I have. Then look at my stash. Then see if I can change my project if I don't have supplies but sometimes, every now and again I have to get one or two things. I don't drink or smoke. I'm a mum of two sick boys and a new baby girl. I think I can go get that new tool that I need or stock up on tape and cardstock. It doesn't hurt anyone and certainly helps with the stress of day to day living in my busy household. There are worse things that we can be addicted to than paper. Right? Lol

Anyways been 'sober' for about 6 weeks now and it's killing me not being able to go get that new die or the cardstock that you've run out of cause I'm getting married in 5 weeks and need $ for that but look out Christmas time. Time to restock...

Ladies, you'd all be very proud of me. I am proud of myself. So I went to Scrapbook Expo yesterday (ohhhh the temptation). The class was great. I Melissa Francis. We ended up doing two classes back to back MF classes. What a surprise for me.

Well I had MY $10 which I purchased ten $1 packs of adhesive (pop dots and doubles sided tape) at Scrap That -with a 10% discount.

With the $50 my parents blessed me with. I purchased the Cut&Paste line by MME just a few pieces (10 PP for $7) and MME embellies by 4 get 1 free. Oh and I wore my Croppers Delight T-shirt (a great group that hosts the best crops that I attend in NY and surrounding area) and received an additional 20% off. WooHoo! Of course you had to ask if they were offering that discount LOL!!.

Next booth Scraputante - also offered a discount for my T-shirt, so I purchased some kits that were already put together. FP, MME, SS, and PP. all $5 each with an additional 10% off.

And finally, I purchased JilliBean letter stickers that I've been wanting to stock up on. They were $1.99 each at another booth that also gave the discount for my T-shirt. I purchased 7 sheets of those.

I drove us there 1 hour drive. So my friend, paid for both of our meals and we were back home by 6pm. I did well ladies. No credit card, no debit cards. Just my $60.00 and a great friend.

Now to put all my goodies away and get to creating.

I am super proud of you ladies. Welcome to the new Frozen Peas that have joined us in the freezer. Cover up, wrap up, bundle up, because it's a bumpy ride, but it's rewarding, and comforting, and motivating and inspiring when you set a goal and strive hard to stick to it. Sometimes the ride is so bumpy that a few of us fall off, but we get back up and we dive in again. I believe in each of you. Happy weekend to you all...I pray it's a truly blessed one.

Thanx for the enabling, ladies! It is a purchase I've been debating for a while. I have a Slice, but no embossing machine, so I think I'm going to go for it!

Yes Sarbear, frozen means no spending in Pea lingo. It may not be so fun, but there's good company in the freezer, so hop in in w/us!

Treyaut, sounds like you had a great day! I'm so jealous, but none of my scrappy friends (who seem to be dwindling every day) could go and being frozen myself . . . Glad to hear you had an amazing time. I'm really hoping to make it next year.

Sounds like everyone is doing well so far!! I am loving all the posts! Treyaut, great job at the Scrap Expo! That is a ton of deals in one day!

Just wanted to share something I read in a recent "Simple Living" magazine, that the only money people rarely ever feel guilty about spending is on "experiences" like trips or get togethers with friends.

I thought, this was relevant due to the fact scrappers tend to enjoy photography to capture their experiences, etc and create layouts to share and preserve the memories of those experiences. I know there have been a few threads about feeling guilty about our stash, but really in a way, when we use it, we are doubly enjoying ourselves and the experiences we had previously. What scrappers do does matter!

What a great incentive to keep having good times with family and friends (and even document the bad ones) and use up the beloved stash at the same time. To me its a nice reminder to go, see, do, scrap! Keeping this positive reminder on post-it notes around the house is a part of my strategy for staying frozen this time!

Morning Freezer Peas!!
Well it's only been a week for me on the wagon but glad I'm finding like-minded souls who are trying to control the urge to overspend. It's part of our genes to shop more or something? It seems like a few $ here and there should not make a difference but it's like a slow leak that needs to get fixed and I have had many in the house. I've put the whole house on a strict budget finally.
Anyway, Kristol, so glad you had a nice time and was able to spend a little w/the gift $. Sounds like you got some GREAT deals too. WTG!
Just a heads up that Columbus Day weekend is coming along w/lots of sales and coupons... resist if you can or hope it's your birthday!

Hi Frozen Peas! I am wondering if there is room in the freezer for me to join?
I challenged myself recently to complete 50 LO before buying anything (except adhesive and color cardstock). My hubz thinks I have way too much stuff, even though I feel I dont have a lot but I'm gamed and decided to accept his challenge of using up my stash. Then CTMH Artbooking cart came out, after much debate decided it was ok for me to get the cart after completing 15 LO, which I did. Now I think I need help to carry on There are all these new cute embellies (wood veneers, flairs, etc) being released lately and I dont have any in my stash and they are calling my name... ugh....
Oh and what are your thoughts on classes? I am thinking of buying the new GG workshop to help me create more LOs. Its the lack of inspiration to use what I got thats gets me every time...

Hi rambolina! There's always room in the freezer! Hop on in!

Classes, to me, are a gray area (Basic Grey, of course! ). They're more an experience than a supply, so you can justify it that way. I think Glitter Girl has free videos, so if you're looking to save some money but still get some inspiration, check those out.

Either way, welcome to the freezer!

Now I'm seeing the importance of unsubscribing from those email coupons. Joanns has 50% off of their scrap supplies plus a 15% off coupon including sale items.

I don't need anything new.
I don't need anything new.
I don't need anything new.

Maybe if I say it enough times I'll believe it today.

Thanks Miglets! Im going to think long and hard about the class. The whole point of being frozen is no spontaneous purchases, there must be purpose behind each buy

I unsubscribed to all crafty emails and my spending decreased significantly and with the smart phone app, if I need adhesive I just check to see what coupons are available

Stay strong!

Even though I'm frozen, I bought the class. I was feeling uninspired and I want to use my stash. I find Shimelle classes give me a kick-start, and this one has too. I'm putting some kits together for a weekend crop and using some of her chapters for inspiration.

I used the link on her blog so there is supposed to be a free video. Plus purchasing the class early gets you a second free video on 2Peas. I felt like I was getting more for my $$.

Hey, Frozen Peas, how are you all doing?

I organized some of my supplies today and I realized how many embellishments I have. I always have this feeling that I don't have much as far as embellishments. Turns out I do - I just forgot what I have. Now it's in plain site and won't be forgotten as easily and I feel like I went shopping!

Hi Everyone,
I am jumping into the freezer for a while. My husband and I have decided to get the finances in order and that means I won't be able to buy anything for a bit. It's not a problem as far as my stash goes- it is huge- I just have no will power. It's hard for me to see the big picture when there are cheap Thickers calling my name.
I've read through all the posts and you ladies have some good advice. I look forward to hearing more.

So I went to my LSS yesterday. And spent 370$. All my collections were finally in and I bought everything I ''needed''.

I ordered on two peas whatever was missing from the order (plus Heidi Swap new misters and masks). Another 100$.

I think I should be frozen now, don't you think?

At least until, hum... let's say January. What do ya think?

UGH! I fell out of the freezer on Friday. I took my car to get fixed and I spotted a new local scrapbooking store and "had" to stop in and check it out... Not a good idea when I am BORED (who wants to wait in the waiting room for a couple of hours) and ANNOYED (yet another thing needing to be fixed), that is a dangerous combination. Needless to say I ended up buying a stencil, Carta Bella paper collection pack and so single sheets of Amy Tangerine... Ok Back in the freezer I go for another 10 LOs...

I'm frozen until January 2014! The only things I'm allowing myself to purchase until then is adhesive and pocket pages. I think I'll still have enough to carry me through 2015. I'm keeping my focus on the outrageous PILE of project kits taking up way too much real estate!

Sounds like you have enough fun new stuff to scrap without buying anything for a long time. Good luck with your freeze!

Well Leslie, you can have my spot in the freezer 'cause I fell right out this week. Not to the same tune as Emilie, but still . . .

I am going on a weekend crop next weekend and another in November and I just had to buy some new goodies!

And don't even get me started talking about the Cuttlebug I ordered!

I should take the Frozen Pea out of my signature, but I'm afraid I won't know how to put it back when I come to my senses!

I've just come back to scrapping after a three year hiatus. I have decided to do PL, plus special event 12×12's. I did buy the HSN kit, adhesive, a mini PL kit, a stamp set, a new pen, some page protectors, and a few other things. All in all I've spent $203.18. Ugh. I just added it all up and now know what I've spent in less than a month.

Now granted, $25 of that was for a crop. I don't have any IRL friends who scrap, so I wanted to get some real life inspiration and scrap chat.

So except for adhesives and photos, no more spending for me. Right now until December, as I will have to buy some Christmas stuff for cards. I actually don't have much of Christmas, and I plan to use what I have for a December Daily. I was going to buy new, but now I'll use my scraps and just buy a 6x6 pp pack to make cards.

Hello Ladies. Oh you make me feel so warm and fuzzy inside. Actually you all inspire and encourage me.

I wanted to share some spending freeze tips that DH and I are using in an effort to stay on track with our Budget and contract we signed for no unnecessary spending for one year.

We've cut out Starbucks - seriously why do we spend so much money on coffee when we have fantastic coffee and a Kuerig at home. If we really feel the desire, we've agreed to only one Starbucks purchase a week and only one item per visit.

We've explained to our family (we have a huge family) - that we are on a spending freeze. We'd appreciate their support, encouragement and understanding when Christmas rolls around and they receive gifts that are practical and mostly handmade. I have a list of items I will be making this year for my family. (I will list that on a separate post when I get a chance).

We walked to our local Library last Saturday and borrowed (free) 10 movies that we've been wanting to see, made a pallet on the floor and had a fantastic date night with popcorn, glass of wine, fresh fruit and cheese.

I made a run to the local thrift store and got my Christmas dress (my company hosts a fabulous Formal Holiday party every December and I love to dress up) for $6.00 - it was balled up on the floor under a rack. OMGoodness it's a gorgeous emerald green satin & silk dress that fits perfectly and I'm going to rock my $6 dress with class and style.

DH and I most crucial thing we've incorporated is we've made a wish board (at home) and a wish list (on our phones) when the urge to shop stirkes. We add that item (and it's price) to the list, we do not purchase it, until we've discussed it, and leave it on the list a few months to determine if the purchase is justified and should be made. This works great if you are an impulse and/or emotional shopper. Having some patience and restraint will be extremely helpful with reducing your spending and acquiring so much stuff that guilt and regret sets in.

Finally, we have our credit cards in a 2 locked boxes (one box inside the other). I have the key to the outside box and DH has the key to the inside box. So if we need the credit card, we have to consult one another.

By the way I have 298 days until my freeze is up. But that doesn't mean I am going to go CRAZY and make up for the 365 days. I am going in changed, renewed, restored, revived, rejuvenated and most of all with a different mindset. I have 67 days under my belt and I feels fantastic. I can't explain how rewarding and freeing it is to use up the stash I have and to know that I'm okay not buying the new lines that were just released. My restraint out weighs my desire to have it all. . Ladies, you can do anything you set your mind to and my mind is set for me shopping for shoes, clothes and most of all scrapbooking goodies became such an habitual thing. This 365 day journey I'm focusing more on the essentials I need and not what I want (and truly don't need).

Let's continue to encourage and strengthen one another through this journey. For some it's not such a big deal. For me it is and I'm sure for some of you it is as well. So I'm here to say you are an OVERCOMER, you are VICTORIOUS!!!

Hey Treyaut, I love the locked boxes for the CC! Too funny.

I started doing a wish list a while back. It's amazing how little I ever end up buying when I do it that way.

I took your advice...this morning I unsubscribed to everything that came for shopping deals and steals. It felt good!

Keep it up Peas!

Lynn

UGH. I do not need the new Sn@p cards and embellishments from the Her line. I do not need them I have plenty of stuff. I have kits I've never touched. I have a PL core kit, a new stamp set. A bunch of stickers and washi tape. I do not need the Her Line, or the Family line. Must stay strong.

I am joining everyone in the Freezer. I just reorganized my room and I am bursting at the seems and need to use what I have as I don't need anymore stuff no matter how cute it might be. There are going to be a lot of online stores that are going to see a huge drop in their sales but it needs to be done.

Love how so many Peas are joining in! Welcome!

Treyaut, you have some wonderful points about spending money in every area, not just scrapbook shopping. I hope to hold on as strong as you are!

Thanks for the welcome treyaut. It is nice to see other people with similar goals. I realized the crisis situation with me when I re-organized my scrapbook room when my dh bought me two more billy bookcases from Ikea for my stuff and it still isn't enough to store everything I have. So it is time to use up the stuff I bought and loved at some time. I was spending an insane amount of money on stuff that I really don't need. Just because I have the money to spend doesn't mean I should spend it on adding to the overflow of supplies already. Maybe now I will go out and get some new clothes and shoes instead...ha!

I'm creeping out of lurkdom to join. I barely have room for the stuff I do own but I keep rationalizing why I need more, so I am freezing myself until at least my bday in March. We are gong to Michael's tomorrow and I need to maybe buy a couple spools of ribbon for holiday cards but after that, no more. DH will be with me and he should keep me on a tight leash in there.

I am working on a page about my boys when they were little and I'm gonna use some of those Mambi stick figure stickers. Yes - I still have tons of those!

In my frozen state I have fallen back in love with my stash. Also in my frozen state I find I'm at home more ( you know every time you leave home you spend money LOL), and my creative mojo has been flowing. I just uploaded eight new LOs in MY GALLERY. a few I haven't added photos yet.

I feel the same way! I'm loving using all the paper that was making me feel overwhelmed before and now that my embellishments have been organized it's so much easier to use them.
I was inspired by this paper bag mini so I thought I'd go ahead and make one even though I don't have pictures in mind. I'm just loving using my stash lately!

Hey ladies thought I would check in. I have had a rough two weeks. As a lot of others we are furloughed (well now he is working with the promise of back pay SOMETIME) and its a bit stressful. I was doing so well creating and hosting the CADSO but that fell out of rotation too. I WANT to create but my spirits are low and USUALLY to combat this I would go look for inspiration at the big box stores but I know if I do that I will spend and we don't have it right now. Any other thoughts to break this funk? sorry to whine, I KNOW we are lucky and blessed it's just been one of those times lol
