I want to be a frozen pea!! Is there another thread I should be reading for info? I just started scrapping again!

I'm now on a limited income so scrap shopping isn't going to happen....except the cricut shall we dance cartridge that my Mom has offered to buy me if I find it reasonable as I have years & years of dance photos.

Can I still be a frozen pea?

Hey ladies thought I would check in. I have had a rough two weeks. As a lot of others we are furloughed (well now he is working with the promise of back pay SOMETIME) and its a bit stressful. I was doing so well creating and hosting the CADSO but that fell out of rotation too. I WANT to create but my spirits are low and USUALLY to combat this I would go look for inspiration at the big box stores but I know if I do that I will spend and we don't have it right now. Any other thoughts to break this funk? sorry to whine, I KNOW we are lucky and blessed it's just been one of those times lol

I'm so sorry that your family is going through this. Financial stress can be sickening. I hope there is an end to this very soon.

I find that if I'm feeling down or very stressed I just cannot scrap. Scrapping to me is a fun and positive thing to do and doesn't mix with stress. If I'm feeling that way I will most likely edit and order pictures or look for inspiration on Pinterest, blogs, or youtubeto pin or bookmark until I'm ready to scrap. You could look for something really easy to scraplift to get you going.

Caitlynsmommy I know EXACTLY how you feel!! I haven't scrapped in years.

I no longer can work, this led to losing my home. I had nowhere to go because I would not give up my pet & my fiance left me while this was all happening. In the nick of time...(I was hounding them daily because I needed shelter)...my disability got approved. We were literally getting locked out. It's been an absolutely trying, heart wrenching few years.

I didn't want to remember anything. I stopped taking pictures, I stopped alot of things & just got really depressed.

I don't particularly "like" where I live...but...after facing almost being homeless....I'm grateful that I have shelter & that my dog is with me. I get fed, he gets fed, Mom helps with vet bills (he eats better than I do!), & we're together. Really, that's all I can ask for.

I'm approaching it from more of a journaling perspective. After a head injury, I'm different & have to relearn some things. I'm going to scrap about that. That way when everything's a mess I can look @ my pages & feel positive. When dinner seems impossible because I forgot what ingredients I've already put in or that the oven was on, so it's burned & then after finally getting it on a plate I drop it because my motor control isn't what it used to be....I'll look through my scrapbook/journal/therapy & remember to be grateful & happy I'm alive.

Just remember "scrapping" is what you make it. Whether it's an art journal or a "pretty" to do list.

Hugs, I know it's hard. I feel hypocritical since I quit scrapping for so long ...but I think it was a mistake, so I
wanted to give you some ideas of keeping it scrappy when you don't want to. Do, what feels best though.

Can I jump in and join you as a newbie? I need to be frozen, even though I haven't shopped for supplies in about a year, or scrapped in the same amount of time. I just know that I'm going to need some support to stay strong as I jump back into scrapbooking and see all the stuff that I missed in the last year and now really want to have!

emarie803 welcome aboard. wrap up tight and jump in and join us in the freezer. pull out some of your stash and get creating. my goal is 365 days. as of today i have been frozen for 70 days. Thats great for me considering I'd purchase every week esp. with those 40% off coupons LOL!.

petscrapper - welcome to you. thank you so much for sharing your story, your trial, your tribulations, but most of all your triumph. Yes, you are triumphant and I applaud you for your determination. I agree, definitely start journaling and document all that you've overcome. Despite it all you are still here, you are still standing, still living and still able to make memories. I pray you stay strong, I pray your motor skills will get better each day. I pray you find joy in the everyday...just for the air that you breathe. I pray for your memory and your health. May you find peace in knowing that each day is a blessing and another day to get it right, to love, to forgive, to hope, to grow. Amen. Sending lots of hugs your way. Blessings to you.

Caitlynsmommy - praying for your finances and that God will make a way out of no way. This too shall pass and you will come out renewed and restored and when you look back, you be amazed how you made it through. Sending (((hugs))) you way too.

Ladies, lets keep being strong. Lets pull out some of the stuff we've been hoarding, saving, hiding, rearranging and storing and get to creating. Thinking of you all, and praying your strength.

Thanks Treyaut! I get to place one order for adhesive and one order for supplies before I get frozen. My bf and I agreed to me getting baby boy stuff since we're expecting and I have no baby/kid stuff. So I get to pick out a line and album for me. And then, I'm going to be doing an album of baby's first year for his mom since she lives in TX and we live in CO, so I get to pick out a line and album for her book.

And then I am frozen for at least 6 months!

Just chatting with you guys makes me feel better!

Caitlynsmommy no need to feel silly. I definitely have my moments when I "forget" to be grateful for what is instead of worrying about what isn't. Any loss of income is an adjustment. I'm just glad I was able to help We all need a hug now & then, even if it's virtual

Treyaut Thank You, so very very much for the warm welcome, encouraging words & your prayers! I'm so happy I came back to two peas & I found this thread!! A big virtual hug to you too!

Emarie803 Congrats on expecting! How exciting & wonderful that you're preparing to document now.

I need to freeze for the rest of the month. I'm going to be barely scraping by. NO DIGI SHOPPING FOR ME. It's so easy to shop for digi supplies. It's all instant gratification. But I have to rein it in. Hopefully, joining in this thread will help.

Hi ladies I have been lurking but wanted to jump in! Have been frozen for 41 days and finding it hard to resist shopping but staying strong. I don't have a huge stash but still more than enough to scrap tons of pictures. I really really want to scrap more with the stash I love!...it's been a year of expenses it seems and cutting out all the unnecessary spending to put towards the next family vacation!

You ladies are inspiring and happy to be in the freezer with you!

Treyaut love all your new LOs especially the one using Girl Friday...I still have a little left myself!

awww treyaut your just a diamond and heaven sent

I'm also a frozen pea...moved my craft space into our formal dining room only to find that my paper doesn't fit that sent me into a "I have waaaay too much stuff and buying more IS simply IRRESPONSIBLE" type mind frame.

Admittedly my school load prevents me crafting as often as I prefer, but I'm hoping to complete a few assignmentS today so that I can CRAFT CRAFT CRAFT TONIGHT!!!

Well, I fell off the wagon, which happens from time to time. I went on a huge shopping spree for all the new stuff in the store last night. After I push the submit button I told myself this is it! We just ordered our backyard to be finally done after wanting them for 3 years. So I did my last hurray for my shopping and my first real day of being frozen starts today. I can't shop anymore, I must pay for our backyard. I am going to take pictures of my scrapbooking room once my finally package comes in and then in a year I want to take another just too see if I even make a dent. I am one of those that keeps everything and that still loves all my stash. Ok, I am doing this day 1 becoming a true frozen pea. What Ambergirl wrote hit home for me too! I really don't have anymore room that when a package comes in I leave it in a box on my floor. I need to start using my quickutz and cameo for items I don't have or letters, no matter how bad I like thickers. If I don't have the color oh well, back to creating it some how with what I do have.

Frozen Pea as of 11/15/2013 Goal: Complete 100 pages & 50 cards before purchasing SB items.
Projects accomplished while being frozen:

Cards = 6

welcome back on board passion4scrappin. i agree with you. my creativity and mojo is stunted because i have so much stuff. i am now organized and i've made and bagged a bunch of kits and i just grab and create, grab and create. today marks 71 days that i have been frozen. i have 294 days to go.

just think about your backyard and your goal and stick to it. don't get me wrong it's difficult at times, but its obtainable. my desire to stay committed far outweighs my desire to want (certainly not a need) new scrappy goodies.

enjoy your new stuff when it arrives and get creating. again, welcome to this cold happy place. we keep each other warm in here.

Hey Frozen Peas!
I'm still frozen. I did cave a few weeks ago and bought a $2 pad of journaling tags, other than that, I've been staying out of the stores and ignoring all pretty emails, lol!

I am about to check out my stash of holiday papers and hope I have what I want to scrap my Christmas cards tonight. I will find a way to make do if I don't. I did a Halloween LO recently w/some non-Halloween papers and some Halloween stickers from my stash. I really liked how it turned out and liked that the process made me think outside the box. I also was in a calendar swap on another board and made 12 months of October w/only what I had in my stash. Each calendar page is a one of a kind and I used what I had.

Welcome all newcomers to the freezer!! It's warm with all the company we have in here! I'm planning to stay frozen til March 1st, 2014.

Last night I was papercrafting onesies for a baby shower with my stash and I used up 11 sheets of old patterned paper!!! They were just sitting in my use it or lose it pile as I've named it. I also finally used up some old Jolee's baby themed stickers as well! All of this stash was roughly 3 to 4 years old! Maybe not a huge dent, but I'm super happy!

Yesterday, DH and I were driving home when I spotted M's. We were at the intersection waiting to make a U-turn, and I blurted out "Michael's!" He didn't say anything. I said no more. The light turned green. I thought he was going to surprise me and stop at M's but he completed the U-turn, so, I said "Bye Michael's, see you in 2014!" DH laughed.

When we arrived home, he said "I wasn't going to stop (at M's), but you can go." Totally enabling me, not knowing how much of a test that moment was for me, but I survived and replied, "No way! I'm frozen until 2014!" I just had to report this, as only you frozen peas can understand.

I was clearing off the small bookcase in my scrap space last night so that my Bf can move it upstairs and put together the deeper one I have for that space today while I am at work. I came across a whole box of ATG tape, plus a few extra rolls that I must have had left over! So now I don't have to worry about buying any adhesive, except a couple boxes of Glue Dots, for a while. Even though it's one of the few things that I've given myself permission to get while I'm frozen, I felt good knowing that I don't have to spend money on adhesive for quite a few months.

I totally understand. I drove by Michaels yesterday and sighed and looked longingly at it. But I kept driving. I don't think my husband is even aware that I've decided to stop buying supplies so I could easily have stopped in and bought a few things. I toughed it out, though.

I have 16 kits bagged and ready to go. In the bags are the embellishments, Thickers, sticker letters, ink, stamp sets, journaling spots and PP paper. If I'm lifting a LO or sketch I throw that in there too. I grab my photos last because I'm okay making pages without photos. I did 3 non-photo layouts last weekend. (They're in my gallery).

I just spent 3+ hours organizing and cleaning my scrapbook room. I finally found my camera cord (it has been "missing" since July) and 24 embossing folders randomly.

I really thought I needed an additional piece of storage furniture, but I'm going to make my current stuff work to save money.

I also declare myself FROZEN as of today! My goal is to complete 30 layouts before I can buy anything else.

Stay strong, Peas!

Charlotte'smommy ~ You have inspired me! I am in your situation I don't have anything fall which kinda shocked me since I have a whole room of stuff so I am somehow going to make it work. Can't wait to see your Halloween cards.

Scrappykindofgirl. How funny! I have been missing my Theresa Collins boarders for months finally decided to take my room apart to locate them. Thankfully it was only the second box that I started on when I found them I didn't even want to imagine what my room was going to look like if it was the last place to look. lol

Ok Girls I am 2 days in and 1 layout down.

LOL I confess, I have an ongoing dialogue when I drive by, like, "I know Mike, I know, but I'm better off without you right now."

I'll have to give Michaels the old "It's not you, it's me" routine next time I drive by and see if that works.

In the meantime, ladies, I'm getting stuff done with my stash. I've finished up a vacation mini that was half finished and I put some finishing touches on a couple of layouts in the last couple of days.

That is awesome Elsebelle that you are using your stash. I hope you post a link for us to see what you have made.

So far I am almost done with a fall layout using what fall stickers I had on hand and die cuts that are so 8 years ago. I am making it work and so far I think it is cute. Will post it here tonight.

I did have to make a small purchase today, my black staz-on had dried up since I haven't used it in years. So with a coupon I spent $4.49,

I am happy to say that with the exception of a mandatory purchase of a one inch circle punch I have been frozen for almost 3 weeks now! YAY! My hubby even took the original punch apart and reassembled it, we did the wax paper/aluminum foil trick and NADA. So off to Ms with the half off coupon to get a new one since I was in the middle of a project that was using it tons. I assembled my entire THANKFUL album using my stash and some printables from the internet and Silhouette store! YAY! I also planned out all the Christmas gifts and with the exception of some colored card stock I had it all in my stash YAY! Amazing what we find when we "shop" our own stash huh?

Keep it up ladies!

There is no resolution in sight for this government shutdown/pay situation so I am trying very hard to just stay home and not spend a dime on anything but gas and food. Thanks for the encouragement and thoughts it will be OK I am sure.

So glad you ladies are inspired to use up what you have. Why do we feel that the older stuff isn't so pretty or exciting or trendy or special? Isn't it all still the same. If we loved it then, what change? Just a thought to ponder. I am totally in love with all of my stash old and not so new. For instance. The Girl Friday line from Cosmo Cricket was and still is one of my favorite lines ever released and I purchased TONS of it. I finally used it on THIS LAYOUT and I think the paper is still stunningly cute.

I also pulled out some very old OA (my background paper) and Jenni Bowlin which really brought THIS LAYOUT to life.

Let's continue to hold each other accountable and find inspiration in the things we've accumulated and spend wayyyyyy to much money on. It's still fabulous, it's still trendy, and most of all it still works, we just have to pull it out and use it. I think you ladies ROCK!!!! and I'm excited to see how much we want this.

Hey, ladies! I'm working on some journaling on some unfinished layouts today now that I have ink. Then I'll only have a few more layouts to do to finish my 2011 pictures! I'm so thrilled! I'm one of those scrappers that likes to be "caught up". I know it's not important to many scrappers but I find that I scrap more of everyday moments when I'm caught up and not just events and that's something I'd like to get back to doing.

I would like to jump into the freezer! I've just moved into my craft shed and finally managed to get everything together in one place and I have so much stuff!!! I want to stay frozen until my birthday which is April 14th 2014. Then I can see how much stash I've used. Wish me luck ladies and well done to you all. You are an inspiration xx

I got the paper line I ordered for the baby book and realized that I have enough (I got 2 packs for the book and for thank you cards) to do both my baby album plus the one for my Bf's mom. So now, I don't need to find a baby collection for her book. I also found an old Fancy Pants 12x12 album in lt blue that I can use for one of the books, so all I need to buy now is a box of page protectors and another album. I might ask for a couple gift cards for Christmas to get these things.

I went through my stash this weekend and pulled everything I need for my 30 Days of Thankful Album and for the baby books. I was very happy, and embarrassed , that I have more than enough cardstock and embellishments for all three projects without having to buy anything else. But, even after pulling all my supplies into kits, it looks like I didn't even make a dent!!

So I think I need to stay frozen for at least the next 6 months!

You are all to be congratulated for maintaining such a positive, inspirational thread. You are inspiring me to just be thrilled with using up stash and getting more layouts done. I keep visualizing more space in my scrap area and more pages in my scrapbooks instead of adding more stash.

What tips do you have for fitting more scrapping time into your busy schedules?

Treyaut, are your kits for multiple pages? After a frozen year do you think you will have a way to measure how much stash you have used up? That would be fun to hear about.

Keep up the great work
