BOOKMARKS Challenge by Theresa

The object of this challenge is to use the layouts that you've been adding to your Bookmarks. You know that you liked them, but how often do you remember to use them as inspiration to make your own?

Fall is in the air (here in the USA anyway) and there has been a Pumpkin explosion! Between the actual pumpkins on porches, the clothing and the flavor added to everything you can't go anywhere without seeing a bit of pumpkin. Playing on that, go to the 10th layout in your Bookmarks, use pumpkin something (color, embellishment or even pumpkin shape) and create a layout.

A very important part of this challenge is that you should send a message to the Pea that inspired you. It will brighten their day! Also, add a link to their LO in the information section or the comment section. Please be very specific about identifying that you lifted that Pea, we don't want to have any hurt feelings by not giving credit where credit is due.

COLOR CHALLENGE by Diana

Create a LO using the colors in this photo: perfect fall colors

DIGI CHALLENGE by Debi

Search through the list above and select a minimum of 2 ideas to combine on one page. The key element this month will be journaling; add more than the date, time and place...let's have a story, even a short one. And just because I dabble in digi doesn't mean you have to; all projects (paper, hybrid or digi) are welcomed.

SKETCH CHALLENGE by Toni

Happy Scrapping! Don't forget to link your projects to the Chatty Scrappers Gallery.

Hope you all find your way to the correct (this one) posting for OCTOBER'S CHATTY SCRAPPER'S CHALLENGE thread. Had a bit (well quite a lot) of trouble posting this month. LOL

Welcome. What will you do on the first day of October? Here? the boys are getting their haircut after school...not too exciting but hey, it's what we are doing. How about you?

Good Morning Sweet Peas,

Happy October!!! That seems unreal doesn't it...this year is going sooo fast. I love fall, it's been so pretty here lately. The new challenges look fun, I love the colors on Diana's color challenge. I need to actually do a fall LO or two.

Life here is going swell. I have my company's celebrity cook-off tonight. It's a fundraiser where local celebs come cook dinner for people at Benihana's. I've never been to this event before, but I used to want to go there when I worked for my old place, the pics always looked so fun. I'm just hostessing and serving drinks at the event, but I'm looking forward to it.

Debi - Thanks for doing the thread. Some months it is a challenge to make it work.

Anywho, I need to run, I have an early meeting this morning. Hope you all have a great day!

Tina

I think the whole internet was wonky last night, had a terrible time here and on FB.

Thanks for the new thread Debi and for all the fun dates. Sorry you had trouble, I did see a thread that said that you can delete your old threads now. I think there are going to be a lot of people doing that today if seeing all the duplicates has any factor.

Raingutter Regatta was fun. Austin didn't win but he did great for his first time participating. Got some cute photos of the boys for their packs.

Today I'm taking Polly back to Owensboro to finish our little Punch Art Mini Books. We're stopping at HL first, albums are 1/2 and I need one for Julianne's baby shower gift, already have the pp. Haven't received Kate's baby photos from her Mom yet so I've also asked both parents to include a baby photo of their self for the book. Am going to wait to see which ages Fran sends of Kate before I find one to match of J's. Can't spend the whole day there today though, Austin has a double header baseball game in Beechmont starting at 5:30 and he thinks I have to be there. I missed the game Thursday because time got away. My sister said he didn't do well without me there (he's still scared after getting hit a couple of time with the ball).

Anyhoo, hoping everyone has an awesome first day of October!

Check box is up. Sorry, no time to chat. I have 36 puppet pieces to get organized and packed into kits before Cubs today. Luckily Steve was kind enough to cut them for me so I didn't have to do that. I'll be back later.

Thanks, Debi, for the thread and thanks to you all for the challenges. I'm determined again this month to do more.

Back again. I'm making soup and bought a little chopper that cuts everything the same size. Ran in to check if the veggies were done and they are. Soup is all done and ready for lunch when DH comes home. I think I love that little chopper.

Theresa, wish I could go to the LSS with you. Be sure to tell Diane hello if she comes.

Tina, take photos and let us see the fun you have with the celebrities cooking. What a fun evening.

Debi, I already know which dates I'm combining and have an idea for your challenge. But, it's off to do Cub stuff for the rest of the day.

Good Afternoon, Thank you Debbie for the thread.

Can't believe October is here either, seems like every year goes by faster and faster.

Working, feeling sick, I got the flu and I just don't feel good, should be home sleeping but instead i'm working.

My room is cleaned and so organize. Now all I need is to label my drawers so that I know whats what. Got my whole table to scrap in. I LOVE it. Got rid of 6 garbage bags and 5 to donate. I know I won't miss nothing.

Soup sounds so good right now Nylene, wish I lived close.

Tina That even sound wonderful. I LOVE benihanas I think that last time I was there I was in my 20s. Long time. Enjoy it.

Theresa..You are busy.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day.

DIANA sorry you have the flu. That sucks.

TINA I love Benihana's too but it sounds like the celebrity chef thing is completely different...sounds very fun and tasty.

NYLENE soup is the perfect food for days like these. Wish I had some homemade soup bubbling on the stovetop but alas I don't. Oh well.

Glad all of you found the "right" thread. It was crazy trying to post...kept giving me an error saying it didn't work, so I'd try again only to find ALL of them went through...Geesh! Then it wouldn't let me delete the whole thread so I got wiser (slowly) and went back and changed the title and deleted the contents, but it is confusing. I see I wasn't the only one having this trouble posting.

Our weather has been very windy... even had a tornado (unheard of around here) touch down south of the city. I can do without that kind of trouble.

Well I'm off to go treasure hunting in the basement (AKA storage for costumes) to see if I can rustle up some HIPPIE gear for tomorrow's spirit day.

Have a nice evening.

Debi, I found the right post because you posted it on the thread!

Went to the LSS with Polly after stopping by HL. We were happily scrapping away and Aunt Joyce called.

She was having chest pain severe enough to have taken 3 nitroglycerin tablets and it was still hurting enough to lock her jaw. Needless to say, 911 was called and an ambulance brought her to Owensboro where I've been in the ER since 1:30. We just got got moving to a room, going to keep her overnight to try and determine what is wrong. They aren't sure it's heart and ruled out pulmonary embolism. I, think it's heart. ER doc wasn't the brightest bulb in the box. She said Joyce could go home if she wanted to and follow up with her cardiologist on Friday (regular appointment scheduled already). Her blood pressure then was 187/74 and she'd already had morphine twice, nitro again and 80 mg of IV blood pressure med. My "seriously" was enough to get her to call the cardiologist (hadn't called before) and get her admitted.

Joyce's blood pressure is now only 123/34. Cardiologist hasn't came in yet so we don't know results of any of the other tests. I've not had much sleep so I'm going to rant for a minute, if you'd rather start your morning out with happy thoughts, stop reading now.

It's been a long night and neither one of us are impressed with the new "state of the art" hospital. Joyce finally got to order dinner a little after 8 and they didn't bring it till 10:30. Mind you she got picked up by the ambulance a little after 1 and hadn't had lunch either. House supervisor was very apologetic but their answer was they only had one person working in the cafeteria. Nursing staff can't get their job done due to the hospital phone they are required to carry in their pocket that rings numerous times every time they try to do anything. They have no ward clerk or call lights, patients call their phone directly through the nurse call system. The lack of a central nurses' desk means that staff sit outside patient rooms and talk. These rooms are FAR from soundproof and a few of these folk evidently don't understand what an "inside voice" is. They brought carts of one type or another up and down the floor all night and we heard every bump I think. Oh did I mention I had earplugs in and Joyce took a sleeping pill!?! Nurse was going to put nitro on Joyce this morning and yes I reminded her that the blood pressure was so low but she was going to place it because "it was ordered". Joyce asked her "won't that make it go lower" and "I'll pass out if it is too low." She thought about it for another minute or so then asked Joyce if she wanted her to not use it. Joyce said "well I'm not a nurse but I think it would be bad for me." She held it. Good grief, what do patient's do that don't have any clue!!!!

Cardiologist came in, they are going to do a stress test this afternoon (she'd already eaten) and possible stent placement. Looking like another night here so my sister is coming to relieve me for a few hours. Going home to take a quick nap, a much needed shower and change clothes before coming back this afternoon.

Theresa - Hope Joyce is doing better now and the stress test doesn't show anything too bad. But better to know than not. The hospital system sounds totally impractical. No-one can get anything done if you are on the phone the whole time. Get some rest. Thinking of you.

I'm getting over the bronchitis. Heinrich and I both slept without coughing each other awake the whole night, so I'm feeling very thankful for antibiotics. Diane, hope you feel better soon.

I packed for my retreat this afternoon, but it doesn't seem like that much once all packed up. Am I taking enough? Haha, this from a woman that can spend a week on one page... We are doing 3 classes and they have a shop open there, so I'll find something to do if I finish all 13 page kits I'm taking with. Okay, I think I'll be busy for 3 days...

Sean is just worried that I'm taking the computer - what is he going to do?! Eleven year olds!

Heinrich will be taking them fishing Saturday and then to a braai and camping on a friends farm, so they will be doing something fun too.

Diana - congrats on organising your space. Wonderful! Now you will get really productive!

Debi - I just love all the quirky days that can be celebrated. Will have to see what we can do this month.

Going snack shopping now for the weekend. I'm not on a diet, but will have to be after this! One of the organisers says they've made a sign for the bar-man saying 'Bring more booze'! Oh boy! I'll stick to the coffee so I can gets lots done

OY! I hate to admit it but I think we have a pantry moth infestation...I've seen a few little moths now and again, but today I awoke to (WARNING: This may be too gross for some of you) ...
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.nearly 100 maggots crawling across my eating nook ceiling...ewww! I think they laid eggs in the light fixture. A quick research on the web and I found the info on pantry moths...guess what I'll be doing over the next few days?

It's always something isn't it? Makes you feel very dirty even though the issue isn't caused by lack of cleaning but rather by eggs getting brought into the home through dried goods (often sold bulk in stores)... I hope I don't have to throw out ALL our dried goods but I'll be investigating them for infestation pretty darn closely...again, ewww!

What is it about high-schoolers? My middle-schoolers dressed to the hilt for spirit days, but I can barely get them to wear a peace necklace (NOAH) or a tie-dyed tee-shirt (Owen) for HIPPIE DAY. We had so much more they could have worn to make it fun but they are too self-conscious now to wear it. I keep telling them life is for living and doing it big is the way to go but ....at least they wore that much.

Ortho appts today and Frisbee practice afterwards...of course, it's raining.

off to hit the showers, go pick up meds for Owen, and pick up some cleaning supplies and moth traps... before doing the after school errands.

have a good day.

Debi

Theresa, you and Aunt Joyce are in my prayers. I'm sorry that things seem so disorganized at the hospital. That's exactly the way I felt when DH had his last surgery. No wonder he had such a hard time recovering. Hugs, my friend! Get some rest when you can.

Debi, Ewww.....I don't know what pantry moths are (and I won't google to find out) but have had issues with weevils a time or two. Containerizing things takes so much time but does seem to help. LOL at the boys. Maybe after seeing others dress up they will next year....or maybe not!

Michelle and Diana, I wish I could hand you some homemade chicken soup through the computer. It tastes so good for lunches on these chilly days. Hope you both get to feeling much better soon.

Well, today I made a BIG step! I decided I can't freeze in Church any longer and needed to buy some clothing that is long and warm and actually fits. Went to Dress Barn and found I could shop in the regular section(!) and found some cute things. The clerk was a gem, bringing me things, encouraging me, etc. You all know that I like clothes shopping about as much as I like camping and visiting the dentist! Came home with 2 jackets, a long-sleeved sweater and 2 long skirts. When I told DH how much I spend he just laughed. I'm so blessed to have this good man!! Now maybe he won't have to hear me complain about freezing at church.

I did Debi's challenge and picked Do Something Nice, and Story Telling day for my layout. This photo was the last one taken of my sweet Auntie before her death. My sisters and I drove 2 hours north and picked up her and her two girls and took them all to lunch. Aunt Met filled us in on stories of our mom right after their mother died. Mom was 14, Metta was 10. Mom just became her "mother". She cleared up a lot of misconceptions about a stepmother that later joined their lives. Very special day.

Oops, my layout is not longer showing up in the gallery, and the URL doesn't work. I'll post it later. This site is so irritating lately. Seems there's something not working every day. I tried to shop earlier and no product photos would come up. Sheesh!

No surgery, starting her on a BP pill. Not looking good to go home, her blood pressure right now is 190/77. It was 199/97 so it's a little better.

Didn't get to go home but we both slept really good. She slept so hard I got up once to make sure she was still breathing. Night nurse came in with a K Pad (recirculates warm water in a pad and I should have thought of that Tuesday). It was wonderful for her arthritis pain. I also brought her home pain med when I came back yesterday since the cardiologist wouldn't order it because he didn't want to do the paper work on the narcotic (yes, that's what we were told). He was willing to give her a different kind. Crazy. Anyway, blood pressure is good, she has an appetite and is eating. Waiting on the doc. Hope to go home today.

Wow THERESA, you and your AUNT JOYCE have been through the wringer. That bp is amazingly high, hope the bp meds help keep it in the regular zone. Isn't it frustrating to see the incompetence and "laziness" some of the medical field have resigned themselves too...it must be hard for you to deal with it knowing as much as you do; but imagine how frustrating it is for us "unknowledgeable-medically untrained" folk. No wonder so many people don't trust doctors. Can't really blame them when they don't seem to have the time to get to know their patients or make the effort to help them. Hope JOYCE gets to go home today and you too. You must be exhausted!

Today was HUSKY (UW) vs COUGAR (WSU) day at the HS for spirit week. Again the boys went minimalist. Noah wore a white LS Husky shirt with jeans (he had on cougar colored shorts but I encouraged him to change); he wouldn't wear the Husky Hoodie I gave him. NO idea why. Owen wore his basic normal clothes and a Purple Husky pullover but doubt he'll keep it on throughout the day. Oh well, what can you do? At least they made a minimal effort. Tomorrow is green/gold day...HS colors...they are supposed to pick one but I bet the boys will wear both. LOL

Getting the kids out on time in the morning is becoming quite a chore...I'm losing the battle to get them to prepack their stuff the night before. Guess I may have to make my point more direct by shutting off electronics early...until we get some cooperation...

THERESA I just heard from the boys that the ex's newest wife is taking a round of radioactive pills (I assume radioactive iodine) for thyroid issues as she told them she can't cook for them because of it. Is this a problem for the boys to be around her during this time? Of course, she has said nothing to me about it. The boys are to spend the weekend with her. She waited to start the treatment until after her 2 week Caribbean cruise even though she told the boys that if she didn't do the meds she would die (she is a bit melodramatic-LOL). It seems to me if your life depended on it, delaying it for a vacation doesn't seem very reasonable but what do I know? Should I be concerned?

Boys have an Ultimate game this afternoon, so I need to get my errands done early.

Doc came in. IF she can do orthostatic BP monitored (lying, sitting, standing) without too much variation we get to come home. Only God knows when they'll come in and do that. But at least there is a chance.

Debi, I don't know a lot about radiation pills. From what I remember, you're supposed to limit contact with people for, I think, a week, not use the same dishes and double flush toilets. I know they're supposed to stay clear of pregnant people too but not sure about kids. Do a search on webmd or Mayo Clinic and see what it says. I would think, if they were mine, I'd really be leery of sending them.

Theresa, I had to check in to see how you and Aunt Joyce are doing. Sounds like there is some progress. Keep us informed. You are both in my prayers.

Debi, I think your boys are growing up and not so much into dressing up anymore. Isn't it hard to see them becoming young men instead of boys?

Diana and Michelle, I hope you are both feeling better.

My internet has been off again, but DSIL came early this a.m. and worked on it. There's a chance we have either a modem or a router that is going out. So while it was out, I worked on a layout. I'll post it later.

Have a great day all you Chatty Scrappers! I go nuts when I can't check up on y'all!

I'm home!!!! Still have no real idea what happened to Joyce. I think she had a heart attack, they don't. Her blood pressure never did regulate. They sent her home anyway and we didn't argue. Can't say she got bad care, more like no care. Her cardiologist thinks the new bp med will help and said he thought her elevations while she was there was due to not being able to take her Lortab (he wouldn't order it). Of course, we didn't tell him I brought her some from home so she did have it. Should have I know but he should have ordered it too, his rationale was just stupid. We weren't asking for him to write orders after discharge, just to be able to take her meds from home while she was there. He okayed everything else, just not the Lortab. She only took 2 the whole 3 days she was there. Anyhow, we'll see if the BP pill works.

I'm here in spirit if not in scrapping output. Fighting with the bank (over a botched IRA withdrawal), the school (over a false absence marking), and given my luck, who knows what I'll be trying to unscramble next. Seems to me my karma right now. Dang it.

hope you have a problem free day

Debi, sorry you're having a bad day! Hope it gets better soon.

I slept til 8:30, well woke up a few times, but didn't get up til then, and I'm still tired. I gathered up stuff to take to my crop tonight and whipped up a cover for the mini album we're going to do over the next month using playing cards as the base.

Hi still a little under the weather, had to take Monica to the doctor's yesterday because she was running a temperature of 104 for 2 days it will go down to 101 but spike right up again. She has a sinus infection. Not that he did any test. I so wish my aunt was still in the states, she retired to Spain, now I can't just get an antibiotic without going to the doctor, and all my mom doc and pharmacist friend from when she was a nurse are all retired or dead. So a trip to the doctors is inevitable. Anyhow, she is felling much better today.

Debi..WOW!!!Nasty maggots. Hope you were able to take care of them. Where you able to resolve the problem with the bank and the school. There is always something.

My friend took those pills, and I know she had to stay away from kids, but not her own. I think is because your immune system is very low and you can't get sick. My friend has 2 daughters and they did not move out. Oh and she cooked almost everyday. She even cooked on the days that her chemo was not kicking her butt.

My kids never liked doing a lot of the spirit week stuff, even Nati participates very little, unless is a no uniform day then they all want to participate, lol!

Theresa..I'm so sad that Aunt Joyce is still not 100%, Doctors now a days are so lazy. Medicine now a days sure is not about caring for the patient. I pray she gets better soon. Hope you can finally get a good night rest.

Nylene...Glad you finally broke down and bought some new clothes that fit. Now you can tell how much weight you have lost. LOL!! No more freezing in church.

I'm going to scrap and rest.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day.

Diana, your Laughter layout link is wrong. Glad to see you scrapping.

We had fun with the mini books last night. I covered 31 cards and numbered all the pages but I'm going to wait and decorate them as the month of November goes by so I can decide what I'm thankful for on each day.

Went to a Animal Blessing hosted by my friend Tom (the one that last his daughter last year). Got caught in the rain a bit. Hit the grocery store on the way home and now I'm just too tired to do anything else. I think this week just drained me dry!

Theresa, I'm sorry you are so exhausted. I'm sure the hospital experience was draining. How is Joyce doing today? I love your 30 days of Gratitude idea. Can't wait to see more of it.

Diana, I spotted your layouts in the gallery earlier today. So cute. It's nice to see you scrapping. I hope Monica starts feeling better. That's too high a fever for very long. Hugs to you and her.

Melanie, are you up to your knees in snow? Sounds like your area really got hit hard. We had less than an inch, but it stayed most of the day.

Debi, sounds like if it can go wrong it has lately. I hope you got things straightened out with the bank, the school, etc. Some days it doesn't pay to get up! Hang in there. Scrap some to relieve the stress!!

I've been working on cards and a couple of pages. I will post them later tonight or tomorrow. We have LDS General Conference on TV tomorrow so I don't get to wear my new clothes yet. I'll stay warm at home in my comfy clothes!

Sending hugs to all of you. Have a great "rest of the weekend".

Nylene, I'll add some photos of the pages I make of the mini book during November. I plan on adding what I'm thankful for every day of the month. May not scrap the opposing page that day but I'm going to put the thankful for item there.

Thanks for asking about Joyce. She's not good. Continues to have the chest/back pain and had to take nitro again this evening. We have no idea what is going on. She's miserable. I should have went over instead of calling today but I just don't feel well myself. I think I've had fever this afternoon (to lazy to check), haven't felt well, cold then hot then cold again, etc., so I've just been on the couch resting. Headed to bed in a bit. Was going to take Nyquil but we have some nasty storms headed this way so I need to be able to wake up easily just in case the tornado watches turn to real tornadoes.

Diane, hope Monica's sinus infection is better and that you feel better soon too.

Wanda called and left a voice mail a week or so ago. Tried to call her back last week but caught her at a bad time. At least we know she's still alive.

Jeremy sent me a photo of the nursery that he's painting. SO cute!!!! Gray on an accent wall. Lilac on most of the walls with a horizontal gray stripe on the wall the crib will be on with white trim.

Best get the dishes cleaned up and head to bed.

Waving hi to all.

I'm exhausted.

Got the school "absence" issue resolved, only took 5 emails...geesh. Turns out the attendance office made the mistake, not the teacher.

Haven't gotten the bank issue resolved. They promised me a check TODAY (yep, Saturday) which I waited around for all day, but it didn't come. They have messed up this transaction so badly, I can't even understand how they did it.

Mowed my lawn, used the leaf blower, picked up a bunch of old leaves and branches and put them in the yardwaste bin, even cut down all the errant bamboo from the neighbor's yard for them.

THen I attacked the eating nook and those dang panty moths...going through every container of food and cleaning all the shelves, sills, windows, cupboards, floor (sweep, vacuum, mop, steam mop) . . . still getting maggots crawling out of the ceiling by the light fixture, so may need to take that down tomorrow (not that I want to). Did find 3 major infestations of moths (Oatmeal, grits, and the worse, brown rice) so got all of those out of the house. Completely cleaned out the refrigerator as well, and washed down everything and under the stove, and under the dry foods cabinet where the brown rice was kept (It was quite gross). I hope to get a handle on this soon. Even had to take my Dyson completely apart and clean it because I've been vacuuming the maggots off the ceiling and well, some were still alive in there when I went to empty it. Sorry this might be TMI. I'm really tired though.

Took one break, watched a movie, while I sorted through last year's school papers (to see what to keep and what to toss) and set up the divided paper shelf so the boys can clean out their binders and keep papers by class for this year. We do this, because with twins, it is often easy for the teachers to mismark assignments in their grade books and I can verify grades against what is on the online record and take in papers to prove grades if need be. You would be surprised at how often this happens, although the boys share 5 teachers, only 2 classes together so it shouldn't be an issue this year...hopefully.

I'm thinking although it is still early, that I should go take a nice hot shower, make sure I have no bugs on me from the inside pest removal and the outside yardwork, and relax with a movie for the night.

There is so much more I could do around her, but I'm beat.

Debi

Nylene - We live in the central part of the state and have only been getting rain - thank goodness! It is pretty nasty out in the Black HIlls. The interstate is closed starting about 80 miles west of us. It has not helped our business any the last few days. No one traveling by. The people that are stuck here are just killing time wandering around and not really shopping. They just want to get going. Oh, well. Yesterday besides the tons of snow to the west, there were tornadoes about 100 miles to the south and east of us. Crazy!

We are counting the days until winter break. Can't wait! I have so much I want to accomplish this winter. I'm hoping to get at least a quarter of it done. More than that would be bonus. The time always goes faster that I think it will.

Take care all and I'll keep checking in on you!

Good Morning Sweet Peas,

Happy Sunday! Just thought I'd swing by to check in since I'm all ready for church a half an hour early. We have a pitch in today, so I got up early to fix some goodies for that. I don't think I've mentioned this, but dh is looking for a new job. He was contacted about a job as an assistant pastor at a church that is about 10 minutes from our house. I went and visited that church last week (he couldn't, he was teaching). It was interesting, but I don't know if I can see us there or not. We really have to make a decision about whether he is going to take a job in the IT field, or if he is going to go from part-time to full-time in the ministry side of things. We honestly aren't sure what he should do, but he does need to change things. We've had so many of his customers stick us for large amounts of money in the past few years that it isn't worth him trying to keep his own business going...I think it's just how things are now, but it is a real challenge to be on the other end of that.

I actually spent some time scrapping last night. I edited up a bunch of our pictures for the last 2 or 3 months yesterday and printed up a few at home. I'm hoping that I can find some more time to play today. I got Toni's sketch challenge done, I ended up loving the sketch with the 3 pics on it, I'm not usually very good at using sketches, but that one came together fairly easy...I'll swing by later to post.

Melanie - It sounds like you have some crazy weather conditions going on out there. We've just been getting a lot of rain here. The forecasters are claiming that we are going to get another couple inches of rain...we'll see, I never believe them.

Well, I hope you all have a relaxed Sunday!

Tina

Hey girls -

good Sunday morning....

Theresa - I'll be keeping Aunt Joyce in my prayers.

Melanie - wow, on all that snow and the closing of roads, etc. I'm so sorry. I couldn't even imagine that happening so early.

Debi - Yuck, bugs...ooooh. Hope you've gotten rid of them. What a terrible job to have to do.

Nylene - Glad you can scrap some more now that your room is clean

Tina - I totally understand about getting hit with people not paying...it really stinks. I hope whatever decision you all make,
you're happy with it, and it works out great.

Anyway, I've got to get ready for work.
I did scrap a page using Diana's color inspiration:

Fall

I read a couple of more books...the Divergent Series....I highly suggest it. The 3rd one is coming out on the 22nd...can't wait!

It may only be a short reprieve but there was only 1 msggot on the ceiling this morning...yay! The end is near.

I'm really sore today...too much physical labor yesterday. Currently I'm wrapped up in my heated throw thoroughly appreciating the heat on my shoulders. I will have to get up soon and start todays' cleaning jobs but hopefully they won't be quite as taxing as yesterdays.

Got to do the run up to Mom's today to get groceries and town errands done. We're not going to the casino this month, since property taxes will take up any discretionary funds...probably could use the break, although I'll miss our little bit of entertainment.

I need to get my house in order any way. I'm considering signing up for a local HOST program - anyone host foreigners here to learn English? I think it could be interesting, but I'm a little nervous about having to provide food for them (what if they don't like what I cook?)

The sun is still out albeit it's only in the upper 40's. Brrrr!

Have a great day.

warmed up to 62, brrrr, actually not really cold but it was 86 yesterday. We didn't get any storm damage but sure got a lot of thunder/lightning. Rain wasn't nearly as heavy here as other places.

Wasn't feeling well again this morning so we slept late. Jackson is over now, possibly spending the night, to be determined later when Trish and Greg get back. If they're out too late, he's staying.

Wanted to share a great tip with you for flattening Cuttlebug plastic plates. go to this website (link there) for details but basically you weigh your plate down and bake it to flatten it. It works!!!!! Saved me from having to buy new ones.

Good morning, It's been a lazy one here. I do feel better I think only my allergies are bothering me now. Monica is also doing much better.

I made 2 LOs today. One of them is using Toni's sketch.

Halloween 2011

I upladed them together since they will probably be next to each other in the album, the second one is for the Sketch challenge.

I need to mop I have been putting it off all weekend, I just want to vegitate. We went to a pretty interesting fundraiser last night Project Stable very interesting and both Monica and myself are going to volunteer, I think it's pretty far from home so I have to work a few things out but I so want to do it. My two favorite things kids with disabilities and horses. I have to find the way.

Tina..Good luck with the decision, God will guide you to take the right one.

Debi...Hope you are feeling better soon. Glad you got all the pantry squared away. That was a lot of work i"m sure.

Theresa...Sending prayers to Aunt Joyce. Hope she can start feeling better soon. You take care of yourself, this cold/flu what ever it is, it's not fun.

Mel...Glad you and yours are ok. Sorry that business is suffering from all that bad weather. The weather is just so crazy everywhere.

K..got to go I'm really going to try and clean a little, not in the mood to do much.

Morning all. Chilly here this morning. Was sleeping so soundly Randy came and woke me up because he said I was so still it scared him. Couldn't go back to sleep afterward, thankfully it wasn't too early or he might have been the one not breathing LOL.

Jackson went home around 10:45 last night, Trish and Greg got back early and he said he'd rather go home and sleep in his regular bed one more night before they leave on vacation today so Greg came and got him. Totally understand that.

Good Morning Sweet Peas!

It's a new week! We are experiencing wonderful fall weather this week, it's crisp and cool...a huge change from last week's humid weather. I had such a nice, low-key weekend. I actually got to scrap some on Saturday and Sunday. It was such a nice break from the pace that I've been running at for the past few months.

Anywho, I thought I would post a few of the LO's that I got done...don't fall over, but I actually did some of our challenges.

Here they are:

Family Camp 2013 - for Toni's sketch challenge.

The best - for Debi's challenge to actually journal.

Right here right now

Hope you all have a great start to your week!

Tina

Looks like I might be getting the upper hand on the moth invasion...hopefully I am not talking too soon.

Now if only I could get the upper hand on the bank issue...still no check. You can only imagine how frustrated I am.

Weather looks like it may cooperate for another day although I see the wind is picking up, so who knows what will happen as the day progresses.

Off to have another cup of tea before I get started cleaning yet another room...

Theresa, are you feeling better? Any word from Joyce today? Take it easy and get back on your feet.

Debi, yeah for getting on top of the infestation. Not a fun activity, I'm sure. Good luck with getting the check. Are they blaming it on the govt being shut down...seems like that is getting the blame for everything I see and hear.

Melanie, I'm glad you aren't in the middle of the storms, but sorry they are negatively effecting your business. Seems like we've had a lot of weird weather lately. Hope it lets up and you see some visitors. I'm sure the govt shutdown doesn't help tourism either.

Tina, I love your pages. So fun to see those two pretty girls together. I'm glad you are getting some scrappy time. It really does improve my mood. In fact, I'm surprised DH doesn't lock me in the room sometimes!

Toni, I somehow skipped over the loss of your 4-footed family member. I am so sorry. Sounds like you are reading up a storm! I do less reading when I scrap. Seems like it's one or the other. You haven't said much about school this year. Is it going oK?

We had DD and family over for dinner yesterday between LDS General Conf. sessions. It was so much fun to play with little Alex. Can't believe he is one! I always love to attend (watch) church in my comfies. We even made some cookies and I gave in and ate one.

I won't have internet for the next 3 days, but will check in on Thurs night or Friday. Have a nice week, Chatty friends.

NYLENE the check came, albeit for the wrong amount and I was able to cash it at the bank (they courteously waived the check cashing fees-LOL). No they aren't blaming it on the government shut-down, as the process was started and should have completed, before the shut-down even happened. basically it is mismanagement and inept service, although they aren't doing anything to make up the lost time waiting for a check that didn't come as told (3 different times) or for the fact they didn't process on time or the fact they processed for the wrong amount. Pretty annoying, really. But the money (or what I got of it) is in the bank and the bills should get paid on time.

I'm still hurting today. I suspect the erratic change in weather from being cold (high 30's) to warmer (up to low 70's) is doing havoc on my joints. I just want to take pain meds and go hibernate. I didn't though.

I went to my meeting, to the bank (for the check cashing) then to my bank to deposit the funds, grocery shopping and picked up 2 free dressers from a Craigslist listing--they are still in the car as the boys will need to help me get them unloaded (too heavy for me) but I have to get them out by tomorrow afternoon.

Tomorrow I'm going to do a walk-in and see if I can get this tooth (one that had a root canal and now is broken beyond repair) extracted. It might take all day and I have to be at the place by 7:00 so have to leave home by 6:30 a.m. Hope the boys can manage to get to school on their own tomorrow. Crossing my fingers and hoping I can get it done in one day and not have to come back for a 2nd appointment as that will cost me 2x as much ($40/visit/day). Wish me luck.

Kids will be home in about 1/2 hour, so I need to start dinner soon. I'd rather just go crawl under my blanket and read. I don't get much scrapping done when I read either...it's one or the other, it seems.

Felt better today, think I needed the rest. However, blew the rest today when I went to Diamond Caverns today with Austin and Michelle for his Fall Break event. It's an underground cave similar to Mammoth Cave which is closed because it's a State Park. Diamond Caverns is actually next to MC but is privately owned. It was really nice. Then we went to Chuck E Cheese and did a little shopping at Kohls. I bought the baby the cutest outfit, tights, zebra onsie with a tutu--too too cute! Too too worn out now though. Austin talks non stop! Even with his meds, he just can't be quiet. At least the meds are controlling the tics.

Off to go watch Castle.

Storm is over - worst October storm on record for the Black Hills. The snow is unreal for this time of year. Cattle lost all over and many of them dead. Makes me sad and thinking even though business has taken a hit that things could always be worse. So far no loss of people, but the news tonight said they are looking for some hunters. It is supposed to be in the mid 70's the rest of the week here. I hope this is not a hint about what kind of winter we are going to have. I really don't want that much snow. I don't mind a little, but let's not get crazy.
Piano lessons tonight. I'm down to six students this year and I'm not sad about it. I can get the lessons done all in one night now. The girls I have are all pretty easy to work with and most want to do well and will practice. I have one beginner and so far she is a joy to teach.
Starting to get things organized to sell on Etsy over the winter. We try to sell enough over the winter on Etsy and Ebay in order to pay our first half property taxes in the spring. So far we have been able to do this with a little left over. But I have to get busy! My store only have a handful of items right now.
Take Care all!

Melanie, watched the news and saw all the nasty weather up there, whew! Didn't think about the animals that might be lost. Naively thought that the farmers would be able to get their animals in barns, etc. Forget that ranchers have herds that have thousands of animals.

41 degrees here this morning. Randy wants to play golf but I've persuaded him to wait an hour before we leave. Will still be cold but at least I won't have to bring out the winter coat to go. Going to be a high of 70, back to 80's starting tomorrow.

Joyce had a better day yesterday. Hoping that means the new BP med is kicking in.

Good afternoon Catty Scrappers!

I'm back in the real world after my retreat and finally getting back into a routine. It was such fun! I finished 11 pages, so won't flood the thread, but will post over the next few days. Still need to get them photographed and loaded. We scrapped up a storm and I actually have bruises on my arms where they were leaning against the table all weekend. But I haven't laughed or eaten so much in ages. Haha, who knew scrapping was a contact sport?

I'll catch up on chatter later, just wanted you to know I'm still around.

Good afternoon, I have been in the ER with Monica all morning, this poor child has been sick for the past 8 days on and off. She has missed so much school, I don't know how she is going to catch up on all her AP classes. Today we spend the morning at the hospital from 7:00 am to just a little while ago 2:00, I feel so bad for her. Thankfully, she just has a real bad case of constipation that has her feeling really bad and with a lot of abdominal pain. Believe it or not she is still with 101 temperature even after taking the antibiotics for the sinus infection. They changed them today see if the new ones work. She needs to get well soon.

I on the other hand cant tell you how tired I am, I have not felt this tired in a long time. Still with a lingering cold.

Natalie audition to be in the school choir and made it, only 8 kids from the 3rd grade made it, she was very excited but felt bad for her friends who did not make it. But she has to be in school at 7:30am for practice. So I have to rush home after dropping Monica off and walk her right away. Thank God is only tues. and thrus. This little girl love music and has an amazing ear for it.

Mel...How sad about the animals, hope your winter is not too bad and you do well on ebay. Natalie loves her piano, she was in a school, were she was not learning much, I put her in private lessons and she is so much happier. She sit and practices without ever been told. The problem is she has a great ear and does not want to read the music, it's difficult to make her read.

Nylene..Daniel made some delicious coconut cookies last night, I was not going to have any but temptation was just too strong, had to have 1.

Theresa..Continue prayers for Aunt Joyce.

Hope everyone has a great day.

sounds like we're all dealing with a bit of crazy these days.

Got a busy day
walk-in to get a broken tooth pulled (in at 7 waited til 10--got an appointment at 1:45-so came home and took a shower and ate, and will go back)

Kids have a ultimate Frisbee game at 3:45: currently it is raining and thunder but hoping for a clearing before the afternoon...already had the field changed to a turf field due to the ground being saturated. Fall sports are so fun...NOT!

Within the next hour I've got to figure out how to get 2 heavy dressers out of my car so I'll have room for the boys after the game.

Get my tooth pulled. GO to the game, Race home so boys can change before going to their dad's for the evening, go to school for a music meeting then off to their dad's to pick up the boys...

then I'm going to collapse and watch my soap and go to bed.

Already read 1/2 my book in the waiting room this morning.

And only found 1 maggot --it's getting better! Yay!
