I have an open loft area at the top of the staires (2nd story) that I've gotten to claim as my scraproom. I love how much light it gets. I love how accessible it is to the rest of the house and I love having big windows that face the front of the house so I can always see if someone pulls up. Sometimes I wish I had a door, but only because I feel the need to always keep my space neat.

I took one of the extra bedrooms and I love it! Decorated to my taste and I can shut the door on it when I have a mess. Just wished I had more time to be in it.

We moved into a house built in the 70's that needs a lot of work. My scrapbook room (the smallest bedroom in the house) has the world's ugliest carpet, a popcorn ceiling, some weird wall texture, and an ugly light fixture.

But the leaky roof, leaking shower drain, and leaking window elsewhere in the house are probably more important than making my scrapbook room pretty...

It does have a south facing window, a door, a tiny closet and 4 walls (more than I had in our last house) and for the moment it is all mine...

I have the smallest bedroom in the house, and recently traded with my son, so he has a bigger space. Even though the rooms are not a huge difference in space, I can't seem to fit everything in the new space

It needs a big cleanup but at least I am able to scrap in chaos, otherwise if I waited until I cleaned and reorganized, I would never get to scrap
ETA: I do love my space, messy as it is. I painted it to match my old room, so all my decor/storage still works, I just need to rearrange and purge

I love having a space, I don't love my space. It's awkward and cramped but I am glad I have a dedicated space. I'll get it right one day.

I love having a dedicated space but right now I don't love my space. It's in the basement and we have show chickens in the other end of the basement. I can't keep the chicken dust off my supplies. Lately I'm also seeing evidence of mice. I miss my cozy little upstairs bedroom at our old house but my Mom had to come live with us so we have no extra bedrooms here. We are working on building a chicken house that will get the chickens out of the basement. Maybe then I can get my scrapbook room in a condition I will enjoy setting in.

I recently moved my scraproom into a larger bedroom and am very happy I did this...now, to carve out time to actually use it!

When I first got my scrap room, I loved it! I had been using the dining room table so to have a room to call my own was glorious! Moving ahead 4 years... not so much. It's cramped and every inch of space has been used up! Maybe I should start using what I've got instead of buying stuff I think I "have to have". If I actually admitted how much stuff has never even been opened, I'd be really embarrassed!

I actually have the largest bedroom in our 1950's 3 bedroom 1100 sq ft ranch house, but I think I'd rather have a smaller room. Because it's the biggest "extra" room, it's the room that takes in the odds and ends that have no where else to go. It's messy and overcrowded with things I don't want in my creative space.

I have the dining area of our apartment and I love it. I can easily hang out with my husband in the evenings and craft while we watch tv or whatnot. I don't like being disconnected from everyone all the time. We're going to be moving in May and I know I'll be looking for a space to call my own in the living space.

I had my own room before we moved to California and I didn't like it much. I would constantly pull my projects out and carry them into the living room and working at the coffee table.

No...I am in my formal dining room and although I have space it could use a nice overhaul, redecoration and a purge all the crap that seems to have no home that gets thrown in there. I really don't feel inspired when I am looking at pieces from Wii Rock Band, an exercise bike, random boxes etc..cluttering my space.

My scrap space is in our 4th bedroom, aka the office, where we have our desktop computer and such. I do like that it is upstairs and out of view when company comes but I would love to be on the first floor. I just don't always have the motivation to be up there away from everything.

We just finished building our new home in late June and I made sure one of the bedrooms could be a scraproom lol. Of course I wish it were a little bigger but I think I just have too much stuff!

Love having my own space for me to go and create.

A loft sounds really nice. I love my current space which is about 9 x 7 located in my family/living room. I rent and don't have an extra room for my hobby so I had to take over a part of my living room. It has been updated several times to accomidate all the supplies that I have. I have always had an L-Shaped desk, one side I scrapbook and the other I had my laptop. I would love to have my own scrapbook room with a door.

I have the smallest bedroom in our house, which is also the one with the best view. I look out over a paddock (for now, eventually it will be a park, which will also be nice) I can fit my huge desk and everything else easily. I need to get a 4x4 Expedit so my supplies and albums aren't being stored on the floor. It needs some more things on the walls (new houses tend to be so bland) but otherwise I love it!

My scrap space is a 13' x 15' room in our finished basement. When we remodeled our laundry room, DH moved the cabinetry, sink and Corian countertops (all of which were in excellent condition - they just didn't match the look he was going for on our main floor) into the craft room. We had a lot of cabinetry that was moved, plus we added a matching desk and some additional shelving to fill out the space. DH also had a 4' square counter-height island on wheels built for the space. I like my craft room a lot. I have a ton of storage space and work space, and although it's not as perfectly functional as it might have been had it been specifically designed for scrapping, it works pretty well. I don't have any natural light, as it's an interior basement room, but I'm not good enough with color that it matters. I feel very fortunate to have the space I have.

I have co-opted our dining room, and it works fine for me.
However, often I find myself working at the kitchen table! In the winter, I have to keep the door to my dining room closed b/c it costs less to pay for heat.

Yes. I have the major portion of what was once our two car garage, now converted to be combination space with a long counter and ten foot farm house dining table and three closets. I overlook the washer and dryer area. There's also a tv in here...it's carpeted so the boys sometimes lay on the floor on beanbags and watch tv/movies. It has french doors to the outside. The ceilings are 14 feet high so it feels huge and there are doors and windows so it gets alot of light.

I love having my space, but the only downfall is that *everyone* sees it. And I am not a neat crafter.

Mine is in a utility room. It has shelves which I love a lot but the lighting sucks (which is why I call it my cave) and I have no power outlets which really bugs me because I love to use my glue gun and would love to get a lamp in there for better lighting. All in all it could be worse because I went from no scrappy space to a scrappy cave ..but I make it work

I like that I have a space and I like it's location in the house. I wish it were just a bit bigger but actually, if I could somehow get rid of the family computer in here, then it would be plenty big. I do wish it had doors so that when it's a disaster in here (like it is right now) I could close the doors and no one would have to see the mess.

Your loft sounds very nice. Yes, I like my space. I craft in our extra bedroom that has two windows, so I get sunlight and I get to close my door when I play music or videos. I could always use more space but I'm so blessed and grateful for what I have.

I took a 5'x7' corner of the kitchen as my space and I love it! For one, it's got a window to the front of the house, I can see people coming and I have LIGHT all day! I was in a closet before, so this is a big feature. Also, unlike the closet, the space is bigger then the length of my desk, so that's going well. Yes, my space, even when filled with smoke cos DH burned something he was cooking, is pretty cool.

I love my scraproom. It was custom built by DH for me so everything is exactly the way I want it.

But it's getting a bit too full so it's time to cut back on the buying, ramp up the scrapping, and do a purge.

My devoted space is an extra bedroom with a walk-in-closet & large windows upstairs. My project table sits in the middle, all supplies are housed along a facing wall, an oversized chair & ottoman provides a place to read/sketch/journal, & the closet stores memorabilia/unused albums/holiday decorations/Christmas tree/wrapping supplies/etc. I & am grateful for my creative haven!

I have to share my craft space with my home office, as I work as a translator and there's no extra room to use exclusively for crafting. I disliked it for a while because it looked cluttered and too colorful, but fortunately I rearranged it through time, buying new and transparent/white containers for everything to make it look less messy. Now it is so practical and visually much nicer, and I am truly happy doing my crafts there.

I have a corner of the room with an armoire and large desk. Dh has another corner with his large computer desk. I don't have quite enough space for my liking. Also, the furniture is mismatched. It is a major room in our house and also serves as the craft center in one corner and another computer in the last corner. The room is just off the main entrance. I bought a folding screen to put in the entrance since there are no doors and that works for me. I count myself lucky to have the space. If I had the money though, I would have some custom builtins to improve the use of space and storage.

I do have a craft room but it's not all it could be. We're planning on moving in the spring so I'm leaving it alone. So, while it's very bland and not very welcoming, I'm trying to take advantage of it now while I can because I don't know if I'll have a craft room when we move. It is nice to be able to leave my mess out and just close the door.

Mine is the 4th bedroom. I also work from home full-time, so it's my home office too. The only thing I don't like about it is that I spend all day in that room working and generally after work, I just want to get out of there. So, it doesn't get used for scrapping much.

Mine is a corner of our finished basement that I am claiming as my scrap space. I moved down there from our den/office, which wasn't all that big. I am almost finished organizing this space. When I'm finished, I plan on posting pictures in the gallery. I would love to have my own room so I can paint the walls in whatever color I want. Plus close the door when I have a mess. But I'm happy with what I've got.

I share the a corner of my family room and I like being down there w/family while we watch a movie, etc. It's a split level so I also feel I'm not too disconnected from the rest of the house if no one is w/me. I guess I'm a social scrapper.
My space is wonderful and getting better! I have shelving, a work station and a cutting station. Still working on getting it organized since we converted the closet to a work station, it's got a window so I have wonderful natural light!

In our old house, I had the "eat in" end of my kitchen. I loved it - it overlooked the back yard / woods, and was convenient to cooking & laundry. Only downside - no storage space.

Now, we have a 3 bedroom house on one floor, so even though my scrap bedroom is in the other end of the house from the kitchen, it's not that far away. DH has his computer in the "man cave" bedroom, so I put up pink curtains with sparkles in mine. It also has a closet, in which there are shelves plus three tall billy bookcases and my homemade 8' scrap desk from the old place. I LOVE IT and spend a good portion of my waking hours in it.

The other thing is - when we moved, I got rid of a LOT of stuff in the house, not just scrappy stuff. When we got here, and moved in, I got rid of a LOT more stuff, and it's an ongoing process. We had a full basement in the last house and NONE in this one, so purging was mandatory.

I have an office that I call my studio. I can close the door at the end of the day and leave the mess

But... I usually keep it tidy.
I like to pick up a bit and organize for the next day I get to work on it.

Keeping it clean is good because even though u have a project you've been working on its Nice to have a clean space to start again with.

We just moved and we bought a 3 bedroom house for my DH, DS, DD & I. So I thought I was going to have to carve out a small area of our dining room. Turns out our DS decided not to move with us and go out on his own. So it is kind of bittersweet that I will now have a craft room, but not our son living with us. He just turned 21 and wanted to be on his own. I will be heading to Ikea this weekend to get a 5x5 Expedit and the workstation that goes with it. I can't wait to unpack and organize!

Mine use to be a dinning room that we never used before we had children in a 2 bedroom apartment. Then we purchased our new house and I finally got to use one of the rooms dedicated to my passion since then though I know work from home while it is really organized, I know that I need to use what I have to make it less full.

My scraproom redo is almost complete. We put in a new floor and painted the room my favorite color-aqua. I bought new Ikea furniture, including a glass top to protect the table. It's always been my scraproom, but now I love it!

My scrap space was in our dining room. I had a huge cabinet filled with my supplies and used our table. I hated it because it had to be cleaned off every night.

Then I moved to the basement. I like that I can keep it messy but I don't like the lack of light. I use the old computer desk that used to be our office. It's huge and holds all my stuff. I'm just grateful I have a place for my stuff. Sometimes, I bring my supplies upstairs and scrap in our bright kitchen if I'm in the mood.

May I say....this thread is NOTHING WITHOUT PICTURES!!!

That said, my craft area is in a corner of the finished side of the basement. DH got me 2 Ikea desks/Expedit units.

It like it but wish it was on the main floor (we have a ranch style house). I don't like basements much, even though this is all finished, painted, carpeted and nice.

Here is a picture of mine. It is a little different now...the table at front left is gone (that was our old kitchen table) and the tall Billie bookshelf on right swapped with the oak colored cabinet on left.

I love my room. I designed a desk that my dad built and my mom painted. I cannot say how much it means to me. I am now buying containers to fit into the cubbies in the desk. So much fun. I will post photos soon.
