I'm not in Addison, but I am in the Dallas metroplex. What brings you to Addison?!? I hope you teach a class here someday, I love your style! You single handedly inspired me to try Gelatos (this layout).

Unfortunately there are no scrapbook stores in the area, the closest are an hour away and not always up to date.

I live in the Dallas area and a couple of the stores are worth the drive to visit. Crafty Scrapper and Big Mouth Scrappers both have current inventory and good classes/prices. Crafty Scrapper recently had Kathy Orta Files teach as well as Debby Schuh.

Thanks

I live about an hour south of there and have a friend who lives in Addison.

Someone mentioned a couple of scrap stores. I frequent The Crafty Scrapper, but what is this Big Mouth Scrapper you speak of? Where is it located??

Big Mouth is in Canton or nearby. I think it's only open on weekends. I was there a year ago and hey do have tons of stuff.

Thanks so much! My main question is about public transport and if one can get by with buses and trains? How far is addison from dallas downtown? For some reason google cannot answer these questions for me!

i am also looking for the quaint shopping part... You know, where you find handmade stuff vs the big stores. Where you have coffeeshops and the shopping is good.

Can you recommend any good restaurants? Other stuff one MUST see and or do?

too many questions? Thanks soooo much.

My husband has a conference in addison and i am going with for 5 days. Unfortunately no scrapbook classes.

I can possibly answer a few questions.

Addison has more restaurants than people. Depending on where his conference is you can almost walk to anything. There's no real boutique shopping in Addison, but between downtown and there you can shop Highland Park , remember your credit cards you'll need them!

Or you can go north to Frisco and hit the mega shopping. Ikea, Sam Moon (the mega jewelry and purse outlet) the mall, and about 100 other stores.

A few suggestions for places to eat..for out of town guests they always request steak. In my opinion 3 Forks and Del Frisco are over rated. We like Bobs Chop house up on Legacy. (north on the tollway before I-90) near Frisco.

A good lunch in Addison is Kenny's Wood Fired Grill. It's on Beltline in a strip near Quorum. They start off with huge popovers. I've never had a bad meal there. Remington's is a good fish house. For Italian, hands down its Ferraris just south of Beltline in Midway.

Downtown or main Addison square has a cool sculpture a few boutique restaurants. There's a little pocket park that many locals go to for lunch. Again, not much shopping but lots of little restaurants.

As far as the distance from downtown, it's a few miles or as I like to say, 15 min going south with no traffic. 45 min either way with. I do drive fast though. I'd recommend getting a rental car. No one takes the bus and trains aren't going anywhere near. That way you're free to explore, heck you could throw in a trip to the arboretum that way.

I grew up in the Dallas area and I'm planning to visit next weekend. I plan to shop in downtown McKinney. They have small shops (gifts, antiques, girly stuff) and nice restaurants. Some thing you may want to consider. It's not too far north of Addison, but you will need a car.

If I remember correctly there's an Enterprise rental in the Intercontinental hotel on the tollway. It would be better than getting a car downtown.
