It seems that some, but not all, of the Studio Calico December Daily kit albums have the chipboard cover on upside down on the front... I.e. the stars are clearly upside down. (Though, you could argue they are merely 'slanted' or on a diagonal. It doesn't look bad, but definitely is not what is pictured in the kit ads.) Back cover is fine.

Mine is upside down, though truthfully I probably never would have noticed if it were not pointed out to me!

SC is saying to convo them for a resolution. No idea what that might be though.

What do you think? Is your cover on right side up or upside down? Do you care? Will you contact them to fix it? What do you think a fair fix would be?

My album hasn't arrived yet, but if the stars are not right side up, I am absolutely going to contact them. I paid for a product, and it needs to be as advertised. I didn't pay for defective merchandise. I only hope that they handle it well. I have had less than pleasant experiences with their customer service, and I actually told myself that I would never purchase directly from them. I guess I should have known better.

My album was badly damaged by UPS. So even though I was inspecting the album closely, I never noticed the stars were oriented differently from the photo. Even after pointed out, I had to really think about it to see what people were talking about. To me and my perspective they appear as set on a diagonal. It'll be interesting to see what version of the album I get as my replacement. But, I have to say, I really couldn't care less. Different from pictured doesn't necessarily represent a mistake in my view.

I wonder how many people would have noticed if it wasn't mentioned publicly?

I'm happy with mine - I never thought that stars could be upside down. I like the overall pattern of the stars.

The more I look at it, the more I like the mistake rather than the correct way of having them! (If I flip back and forth between the front and back, the front looks better to me.) I see it as being on a diagonal rather than upside down. If I saw it as upside down though, I think that would bug me enough to request the change.

Some people have crooked stars, some have them completely upside down. Crooked would not bother me, upside down would drive me crazy!
What is the resolution they are offering? The thread was closed on the board, but I was curious on if they were handling it better than they typically do
I also wonder what they will do with the kits that are unsold, if they will send out defective albums or not.

I was one who posted at SC that my album has upside down stars. I have been in contact with SC and they will be re-running the albums and sending out new ones to all those that are affected and that send in a picture of the album showing the upside or "wonky" star pattern. They said it will take about 3 months to get the replacement.

Skellinton - I guess mine are completely upside down if I look across the rows, but it just didn't catch my eye that way. It looks to me like they are oriented in diagonal rows, top left to bottom right. I haven't seen the official thread about the solution, but I hear SC is offering to replace. But I agree with Mishi, stars have no orientation for me and stars are used "upside down" commonly. Case in point:

The stars on the elephant are oriented the exact same way as on my album. If others aren't happy, they have every right to seek a solution from SC. I hope SC is able to find resolution for them.

After seeing this thread, I checked my binder and sure enough, mine are "upside down". But I don't mind, and wouldn't have noticed unless someone pointed it out. I'll just deal with it...

I wasn't surprised to see this thread. Every year there's a problem with the SC kit. For the cost they really should have better Quality Control. I hope they have a good solution for those with a problem. That would drive me nuts.

Hi Stranger!! LOL!
Mine is upside down too (just noticed since you posted!) and damaged from shipping. I messaged them immediately regarding the damage last week and they said they were going to send me a new one. Nothing as of yet. Upon further inspection I would have liked the ribbon "December Daily 2013" embossing to be on the front.....

Hey Dawnie! Love your signature pic!

I still think the messed up cover looks better. It's got more movement or something. I just wish the back matched! Don't think I'll be asking to have it replaced.

I do like the fact that the banner is on the back. That way the potential for the front is less restricted... I like that it's more of a blank slate to work with.

Seriously, after this many quality control issues you would think they would learn. I feel like just about every kit they produce ends up having some issue.

And of course April locks the thread so no one can "air" their concerns in public.

I wish the DD 2013 was on the front too. I thought it was a mistake!

I have upside-down stars on the front and correctly placed stars on the back cover. It wouldn't bother me as much if they were the same on both sides. I started a convo and am on the list for a new album.

How is the handling of the old albums going - do you need to ship it back? If so do they pay the return shipping?

Well, they are at 100% for problems with this kit, so however long they have been doing it, that is how many years there have been screw ups.

I find it really odd that almost everyone that has a screwed up cover that the back is fine.

I really don't understand how so many slipped by their stringent quality control (snort).

I also don't understand why April feels locking threads will make the problems magically disappear.

Wow! Great album, Isbaha!

The three month lead time for a new album is disconcerting. Does that mean you have to return the old one now and have no album to assemble throughout December? Still wondering what SC has suggested as a solution...

Three months?!?

Oh well. I can cover it in pretty holiday paper and and spray a light coat of acrylic on it for secure staying power through the years.

I just looked at mine. The front is diagonal but it doesn't bother me at all. In fact, I kind of like the stars diagonal better than straight. No biggie (for me personally), but I sympathize for others who don't like theirs. We paid A LOT for the kit!

I think my stars are upside down, but it doesn't bother me. I would not have even noticed it if the peas had not brought to my attention.

I'm glad the December Daily embossing is on the back because I don't plan to do that type of project with the album.

Mine are flat-out upside down. Not diagonal. I noticed as soon as I got my album out of the packaging. They are replacing it, and I am fine with that.

I would not be OK with the upside-down stars as "no biggie" had they gone that route. But they didn't.

Mine are upside down, dang it.

You know, we paid so much for the kit that I think we deserve first quality, defect free merchandise.

Is a cover with upside down stars the end of the world? No. But I still think it's reasonable to expect quality for that price.

I didn't order this year but I did order last year and there weren't any quality issues last year. There was an issue where the stamp manufacturer released the exclusive stamp set in their online store so SC gave us all a new exclusive stamp set.

For this year- I think the diagonal stars is much prettier than the straight stars, but I didn't order it, so it doesn't matter. Sounds like SC is letting you keep the 1st album and sending those who had issues a 2nd new one. Sounds like good CS.

I no longer subscribe to SC but I never have had SC CS issues.

For the front, I used Bazzill textured dots paper.

Actually, I made it for Paperpilekitten's My Dream December and made a detailed step-by-step, so I can't share the tutorial here.
