Do you think they are going to be successful with this? Looks like digital, premade albums, and some kind of slip in pages. I started out with CM and still have a lot of their stuff even though I moved on to other products, I have no interest in their new stuff. Anybody planning on buying (or selling) the new CM?

It doesn't look like my kind of thing. I won't be buying (or selling).

I can't imagine anyone signing up to sell such a limited line. Nothing in that catalog interests me. Wonder how long it is before my CMC sends me an email about "the awesome, new, shiny CM!!"?

I realize that they will probably say that they were only "allowed" to do certain things due to the bankruptcy, but I think they're going to have a challenging time making a go of this. They are going to lose current loyal customers, and have to really market to get new ones. I do think there are some who will love this concept, but it won't be long term album buyers/users. And it seems pretty pricey to me as well. I thought maybe they were going to come back w/some sort of project life concept - that would probably have done well.

There were some items for "decorated pocket page" style available as well. But limited "slide in" decor ... and I, too, thought the prices were very high.

The little photo box is cute, but I wouldn't pay $9.50 for one!

Holy Crap! They aren't even trying!

"Slide in"....really? That just has a ring to it doesn't it?
And what is with those photo boxes? They look about has sturdy as a McDonald's fry box...for 9.95?

Some of their PL cards are cute, but I was never a CM fan to begin with (other than some of their tools), their prices are just so high.

The product line is awfully narrow and I agree prices seem high. I am excited to see the large single pocket pages, which can hopefully replace the side loading pages so I can at least use the album covers I have.

I definitely give them credit for a nicely updated design!

Another CM starter here---1994. I was looking at the catalog and kept thinking, is this CM? who the heck is anhi and zoe? not interested. it's kind of sad to think that the old CM is gone, they were such pioneers in the industry.

I must admit, I have never been a CM scrapper, save for a few tools. So I'm not tempted by this except for the photo app. That looks kinda cool and if they print in a true 4x6 I might be tempted by that. I will probably at least give the app a test run and see how it goes.

No, nothing in there that I'm interested in. There's not even a mention of scrapbooking. And very expensive. I can't believe 9.50 for that photo box.

Well from what I understand, but not certain of course, is that the pages for these albums are the same size and style as the previous CM and you can wallpaper them as with the old, and for those who loved the strap hinge albums it looks like these albums are the same.

Granted, I don't care much for the current selection of albums, however it appears they have black and white. And if I was going to do a PL style album, I think it would be with a CM album just because I do like the way they sit on the shelves, I would not use the kits from anyone, I would make my own as I don't like all the sayings, they just don't speak to me.

Let me be clear, I have never been "pro" CM. I dislike any company that says they are the only place to get anything, because in this day and age that simply is not the case. But of the few products I have purchased from them though the years I do have to say their quality was top notch.

Maribeth

PS - to the OP - thanks for posting the catalog link, it was interesting to see what they are coming out with.

CM was how I began scrapping and have always loved the quality of their tools.
Disappointed that I did not see replacement blades for my cutting system.
Personally, they took their picfolio album and turned them into PL and I think PL got the idea from the picfolio album system but took it a step further w/the cards instead of paper.
I have enough supplies that I won't be purchasing any of it anytime soon.

I really liked the CM tools best. Rarely used the albums or pages. The 4x6 fillers look alot like project life except more expensive. I bought one of the smaller BH kits of 40 cards for 4.99 at HL. CM wants 9.50 for 25 cards. I will miss using their stuff.

I think it looks like they are going for people brand new to memorykeeping, who don't realize all of the options yet and who just would like to put their photos in an pretty album. That's also how I see some aspects of Project Life as a brand, more of a lifestyle product than a creative hobby.

I agree. I started out with CM back in 1991, so only a few shorts years after they got going. I love their tools and liked their papers once they got into the patt papers and such for a while, and always have loved their albums. I much prefer them to the D ring, which is what I have gone to now. I did eventually branch out away from them as far as the paper and embellies go.. but have always bought their tools and albums.

I love the app idea, but they are going to need to bring their print prices down if they really want to be successful.

They need to have more formats for divided page protectors if they are going to compete with pl. I also think consultants are going to have to ditch the cm only attitude if they want to be having crops still. I don't see people paying to meet, and slide in pictures together.

VERY DISAPPOINTED! If I wanted to do PL, I could buy it much cheaper elsewhere. No tools, no standard albums, I don't need you to make my layouts for me. Guess its a good thing I have over 50 albums and pages I bought while I could! Unfortunately it will only get me to the end of fifth grade for both of my boys. Then I will be changing..

The catalog was very inviting...had a hip, young feel that I have never associated with CM ever...so if that was what they were going for...they did it.

I liked the photo box...very cute. I would want one or two but they are a tad pricey. I liked the project life style stuff...I don't do PL...but I can see it being cool for those that do.

It would be interesting to lure the people in with 1 GB--do you think it comes with terms like some of the online sites where you have to buy every year (just one print) in order to keep the photos stored?

Also I like the photo box, but more for $4.00.

The PL type cards had me scratching my head, not just over the price but because they are ordered as horizontal OR vertical even though they are double sided. Why can't one side be vertical AND one side be horizontal? It makes no sense, because that's how the manufactured their previous PL type line.

Did you see the tape runners are $9.50 and refill is $8.50? Can't get past that.

HOWEVER...if that black album is like their previous 12x12, I might stock up. I'd have to go through my stash to see how many unused CM albums I have.

But then...there's a part of me that thinks "it's only a matter of time" when they totally close up shop and I'll have to come up with another plan for albums.

I really don't think this new format is going to work for them. Way, way too expensive, way way too limiting, etc. Why jump into PL style now, at those prices, when every other manufacturer seems to be coming out with their own versions, at much lower prices.

Funny how out of everything in the catalog, the only thing that I was drawn to was that black album, just like I always was (besides their tools).

I read an article somewhere online that this isn't even totally a done deal yet. Their creditors have to approve their "plan" and then the bankruptcy court.

I read the album has a paper type cover instead of the covering the old type of CM albums had. I found this -

They are made with a soft-touch laminate paper-based material. This is not the same (bookcloth) material that we have previously used.

Who is Ahni & Zoe? They are missing the mark for this product industry. Not anything I want.

Copied and pasted from the Creative Memories website: Who are Ahni & Zoe? They're all of us, from A to Z. Literally translated, Ahni & Zoe means "beautiful life." And that's exactly what we want to celebrate with your customers and create with you.

They are saying that "Ahni" is Hawaiian for beautiful and "Zoe" is Greek for life, though it has been pointed out by a couple of posters on Facebook that the name "Ahni" isn't Hawaiian -- the name "Nani" means beautiful.

I have a good friend who is a CM consultant. I feel really bad for her because I've looked at the catalog and I just can't see how she's going to stay in business if this is what they are selling. Even though I no longer use CM albums I always try to buy stuff from her, a pack of paper or adhesive or something, because I want to support her business, but there's nothing to buy now. I'm certainly not paying $8.50 for tape runner refills!!

I have a friend who's a CM (oops, A&Z) consultant and she said the company told them that they did a lot of market research before they started this new line and this is what people want. I just have to wonder. People who don't scrap probably aren't interested since they don't print pictures anyway and keep everything online. If the comments on this thread are any indication many people who scrap as a hobby aren't going to be buying due to style and high prices--I know I won't. Newbies will probably just go to a big box store for products. Who does that leave that "wants this"? I just can't see them making it with this line.

I think they're making a big mistake w/the PL line. Having only 6 ups (either all horizontal or all vertical) is a huge mistake IMO. The thing I love about the PL stuff I can get on Two Peas is the VARIETY of layouts. And the thing I love most is that there are different sized pockets. Having NO 3x4 options in either pockets or cards seems very short-sighted. Ah well.
