I'm sure I am way behind the curve. But last month I discovered I could just say "Play 'The Secret o' Life'", and one of my favorite tunes starts up. No fiddling around, all my songs are just a wish away. Around the same week, I discovered setting the alarm was as easy as saying "wake me at 7:00". And to think I've been fooling around with the clock and settings, ect all this year.

So today I was feeling stressed. I have my Nurturing Statements from therapy written down in my notes. And decided to see if Siri would read them to me. Yep Even better, I asked her to read them again and the little sweetie had no problem with it.

I see all kinds of possibilities here.

So, tell me, how do you use Siri? I'm in the mood to take advantage of this program, even though I'm not very advanced technologically.

I like that she can dial people's number for me - I will just say "Call John Smith" and she does - so I don't have to fumble locating his number among all my contacts.

I also love that she can navigate me when I am lost - example: "Find Bert's Pumpkin Farm" and she will say "Bert Pumpkin Farm is 2 miles from you, would you like directions?"

I like that she calls me "Princess"

I don't know why I didn't think to tell her what time to wake me at...I too have been fussing with the settings on my own. I don't use her to her full potential at all. Typically I just use her for directions and to dial a number.

Hold down the round button at the bottom for a second or two. She'll pop up.

if you have her on your phone, I have a 4 and I think Siri started with the 4s.

Siri,
Make an appointment For Brownies on March 3rd at blah blah elemntary school from 3-5 pm.

Jen, you have another appointment with the orthodontist that overlaps with that appointment...do you still want me to schedule it?

Yes.

Okay...the appointment for Brownies has been made.

LOVE IT!
So much easier than opening the calendar...typing it in, etc.

Nothing! I don't trust my Siri, I think she's insane.

She used to work fine and I used her a lot to find directions, favorite restaurants, etc. but in the summer we were on a boat and I had slipped the case off my phone for some stupid reason. I had it in my hand, went to pull my hair into a ponytail, forgot I was holding my phone and it went flying into the lake. I yelled out and my husband dove in immediately. He actually managed to grab it at the bottom of 15 feet of water!

I thought it was doomed. He dried it off with a towel, while I tried not to cry, and handed it to me and it was perfect! No problems, no damage, nothing! It has worked perfectly fine since then....except Siri.

She gives me the weirdest answers to everything. My kids love to mess with her by asking her basic questions, like "Siri, Starbucks close to me." She'll come back with insane answers.

Poor Siri. I think her near drowning rattled her.

I'd completely forgotten about Siri when I got my 5c a couple weeks ago. I guess I'll have to figure it out this weekend.

DD had a good one with Siri last year on her bday:

DD: "Siri, it's my birthday. Will you sing Happy Birthday?"

Siri:"sorry, I don't sing"

DD: "Please?"

Siri: "how about a birthday poem instead" and then proceeded to rattle off some hilarious birthday limrick. I wish we could remember what she said. I just remember that it was funny

I use her to add things to my running shopping lists (in reminders):

"Siri, add paper towels to my Target list."

"Siri, remind me on Monday to pick up a birthday gift at the mall."

I need to use her more, too. Thanks for the ideas!

The only thing I've ever asked Siri was the longest station name in Wales. She couldn't tell me. Not surprising. Most people can't say it either.

DH asked her twice to marry him and she said "we don't have that kind of relationship", followed by "it's not me, it's you".

I suppose I ought to find out more about how to use it instead of just mucking about.

My girls mainly just play around with Siri. Oldest dd once said she hated Sori and Siri said "why, what did I ever do to you?" It was so funny! Other dd asked her for a kiss and she said "we don't have that kind of relationship!"

I use her for texting, directions, setting the alarm or a timer.

My kids also love to play with her. They love to ask her to tell them a story, and sometimes she won't, sometimes she starts one, and every once in a while she tells a long story about how she was created.

They ask her how much wood could a wood chuck chuck... the answers are funny; she has several of them.

Oh, and they like to ask her to tell them a joke, too.

She'll answer: (Whoever's number 25) because I root for the underdog.

It's hilarious!!

Shoot! I can't remember them all and it's not working for me right now.
She gave a list that included (what I can recall) funeral home, morgue, and dump. There was another off the wall dump type place but I can't think of it.

My DD told her my name was "I have stinky Farts". So when you ask her "what's my name?" She'll say. Your name is Holly but you've asked me to call you I have Stinky farts. She won't come right out and say that's my name though. My DD likes to mess with her all the time.

I admit I don't use her often. How do you get her to call you by name? I do use her for phone calls and texts. But for some reason I feel stupid taking TO a phone. I guess it is no different than talking ON the phone, but it just seems weird. I also hate talking to my video camera. I think it has to do with thinking that anybody who talks to themself is insane.
