Blog

I am filling in for LeighAnn just for December as she cares for her new little one. I have gotten everything approved by her for this swap. I hope you will participate! This is tag swap #12.

Please sign up here by November 1st midnight 2Ps time. I will post swappers by November 4th (probably earlier). After swappers are posted, please contact each other by PM for snail mail addresses. We keep in touch by checking in on this thread every once in a while.

REQUIREMENTS:

Rectangular tag that is hanging style.

THEME: trees

REQUIRED ELEMENT: Glitter (of any kind) and Stamping (of course!)

Please mail your tag to your swap partner no later than December 3rd.

FYI:
******You must post your tag in the TwoPeas Gallery****** Usually, you will have posted in the stamping forum thread that you mailed the tag. Then the recipient will post when they got it. This has typically been the best time to post your tag in the Gallery. I have the blog open through 12/15 and I expect that should be long enough for most shipping times, even international, but let me know if there is any issue.

Any questions? Did I forget something? Thanks!

Hi Joan-Anne, thanks for introducing yourself. This is a fun swap group and I know you'll fit in. I should try to find the master link to all our swaps for this year for new folks to peruse, I will work on that.

Welcome Joan-Annne.
As Heidi suggested you may want to peruse the following thread that provides links to the monthly threads. Looser pulled these all together for us.

Thanks for including me! The link to all the other months is very helpful. thanks. The only thing I couldn't find was the size of the tag. Did I miss it? If someone could let me know that would be great. Looking forward to making a tag!

There is no absolute size requirement except rectangular shape. I use the Tim Holtz #8 tags which are 6.25 by 3.125, but I have received ones a bit larger and a bit smaller.

AJ. 'lollipops'? LOL!

Welcome 'Joe'! We now have a JoanAnne & a JoAnne (Garden Cat)!

I love the tree theme & even don't mind the glitter 'twist'. What's funny is I've already pulled 2 stamps to use & have the glitter chosen. Now I have to do my Nov. tag!

Lots of challenges this month!...and my own Christmas cards. I will post before the deadline if I can play. Thanks Heidi for coordinating this month!

LOL, Jan! Don't think I dre lollipop trees as a child, but that does make sense. TY. Actually taught floral classes where we did 'lollies' (aka Topiary Arrangements) Hmmm Topiary Trees... Edward Scissorhands anyone!

LOL, no...sometimes I type what I think in my head..that can really be dangerous!

My son, when he was very little used to shout out an enthusiastic "LOLLIPOPS!" when something would go his way. I asked him why one day and he said, because there's nothing better in the world than a lollipop.

It's just stuck with me...I say it whenever I'm really happy about something. And...just a little reminiscing from a time that was so precious that is now gone

Sorry for the confusion, no, my project will not include anything lollipop related...lol!

LOL, AJ! Love your post about what 'Lollipops' meant! Sweet. I dated a gal who didn't use swear words. She used to say "Oh Fudge" & blush.

Don't be too sure about not using lollies in your tree tag. Remember those 'trees' that had holes for making lollipop ones?

Around here we say 'suckers'--a whole different word when used in slanguage. Not always nasty, tho'

Daniel, I will tell Bo that you enjoyed his lollipop story. Try as I might, I can't get him to say it again. For any reason! He's a stubborn teen now. Sigh.

I'm laughing though...thinking about how to create a tag with lollies now! I'm a "sucker" for a good challenge!

What did I find? Not much. Just a huge bunch of diecuts, paper & pre-cut tags that a friend rak'd me several years ago.

I think I know how I want to tackle my Dec. tag now. Better get it started before I find more 'buried treasure'...

LOL, Sarbear! Trust me! I'll get the tag with weeks to spare.

My December tag is resting comfortably in the mail box waiting for the postman! I knew immediately how I would do this tag and that never happens so I decided to jump right on it. I've been wanting to work with glitter... NOT. How in the world does one keep that stuff contained?! EEEEK!

Back to Thanksgiving cards. LOL

Sorry about the glitter mess. My fault for the requirement. I have better luck with glitter glue if you clean it up right away with a baby wipe. I do have one of those gel rollers for glitter, but they don't last forever and no clean up method is perfect! It's fun that people are into their December tags though.

Marshia--I think I have given up on working with loose glitter. I got some embedded in the caulking that attaches my new stovetop to the counter and after 6 months of wiping at it-grr.

But I did learn that brayering a thin coat of stickles on especially embossed backgrounds contains the glitter and gives a beautiful light sparkle. The technique was my last SOF challenge so you might want to checkout the samples on my blog as well as the beautiful cards participants created.

In light of Marshia's 'contain glitter' post, I am encouraged to share a glitter story I read several years ago on another site (no idea which one).

Seems the poster had a love affair with glitter--loose & other. She also used rags to clean up her workspace & laundered them every few months. One time--to save water, time & soap--she tossed her work rags in with regular laundry... Iin the load were some of DH's underpants. Next time he went to the gym he glistened & glowed in the locker room.

Like creativity, one does not contain glitter--one wears it as a badge of honor until it wears off.

LOL, April. The DH was not amused, but I wonder why others were checking out his 'glitz'!

I'm making progress on my tag. At this point I'm using 'contained' glitter--'Tulip' Crystals (Duncan). That said? I am very careful to wipe my applicator (index finger) with a rag & alcohol (rubbing; not drinking)

I thought I had a good idea of what I wanted to do and even got a little start on my tag but.... I was up a ton last night with Andy and got another idea in my head. Off to the drawing board with it!

And I agree no apologies on the glitter! Yes it gets everywhere but I love it!
