Care to comment Mr. Mayor, now that the video that you said you couldn't comment on because it didn't exist actually does?

Or will you just lose your temper on the reporters on the driveway of your house?

If that makes no sense, the coles notes version of this is that the crack video that Toronto Mayor Rob Ford said did not exist was confirmed to be in the possession of Toronto police in a press conference about an hour ago. Twitter and newsrooms around the area are currently exploding.

Robyn Doolittle and Kevin Donovan must feel quite vindicated at this moment.

Is this the video that was thought to be had by a dealer? If so I remember the story and it was shady.

Yes.

A lot of people are asking that very question.

Wow! I've just surfaced from my cake space to grab some lunch, so I'm just hearing this now.

I agree - HOW that idiot is still in office is beyond me.

I'm small town, but my Mom lives in Toronto (technically Etobicoke). I was saying the other day, how I was at a business to business function, and our Mayor was there. She went from booth to booth, and stopped to chat. She knows me by name (she's ordered from me before) and we had a lovely chat.

Mom says "wow, certainly wouldn't happen with OUR Mayor" lol

It's not like he's going to leave voluntarily and the process it would take to forcibly remove him from office would take us into the next election.

And then I think of Marion Barry being reelected after being not only charged but convicted and I give up hope of ever getting a mayor that doesn't embarrass me.

i saw a survey a week or two ago that said if there was an election, over 50% of those surveyed would vote for him again. so now that this is hitting the fan, i can't help but HOPE some of them may reconsider??!?!

the guy is a moron. sorry, there cannot be *that* much smoke and no crackpipe.

if they guy had a problem and just admitted it... it would be easier to understand. him and his brother constantly lashing out and all the bluster?!?! ridiculous.

i call him the worst mayor toronto never voted even voted for....

No kidding. I could never understand his supporters. I swear if Ford was running in civic politics somewhere else, he'd be considered a wingnut candidate.

I didn't doubt there was a tape.

Also, I think someone at Sun News just had their head explode.

We'd send you ours, but.... no. Nenshi fever is alive and well in CowTown. We have had some really incredible mayors.

The more that comes out it just gets weirder and and weirder. You can't make up this kind of stuff. Honestly, if this was a script, people would think it's too far fetched.

It's kind of like Degrassi High... so much tragedy in one school. It's just so over the top. But the difference, this whole Ford debacle is very real.

I REALLY wish that half the effort that has been put into trying to get this video and catch Ford doing something illegal that really doesn't directly affect anyone but him and his family, was put into trying to confirm what the Liberals have done. There have been illegal coverups, illegal destruction of documents and who knows what else with the oil plant closures. This does directly affect each and every tax payer of the province yet the Toronto Star and their ilk seem to be perfectly fine letting them skate but have such a personal vendetta against Ford. It is a very bizarre sense of priorities.

I don't really care about Ford and if it is proven that he did what is being claimed then I hope he is properly punished. I wish that real dollar and cents issues were cared about half as much.

You know, I don't disagree with you about the coverups and the cost. But quite frankly, stopping the plants was the only choice. They were a very bad idea. They should have never happened in the first place. That's the only reason I give a little leeway to the government. Unfortunately, I don't think the alternatives would be any better.

I think Harper's over the moon ecstatic that this happened to take away the spotlight from the senate fiasco. A couple of my pundit friends are having a field day with that. Can't wait to see what Mercer and 22 Minutes have to say about the shift.

That. I don't even know what to think about all this. (Nor the Liberal fiasco.) It's all just that... embarrassing. The politics game attracts a breed of person like no other, it seems.

My friend lives on the same street as Ford, and he couldn't even get out of his house this morning, because the whole street is jam packed with so many press vehicles.
