What are your pet peeves?

One of my biggest ones is people being on their cell phones at inappropriate times like driving or since I work in retail when you are trying to check the person out and you have to ask them questions and they are on their cell phone. (Hey if it is an emergency, I totally understand but other than that, why not wait until you are done?) The worst is when you hear really inappropriate conversations when you are in a store...Like I once heard a woman arguing with someone and she said, "Look I have to go, these people are listening in on my conversation." Uh, hello don't have your "private" conversation in public, the reason people were looking at you is because you were so loud!

Right now?

The penchant my children have for drumming on EVERY. SINGLE. SURFACE. with their fingers. There is a constant, low-grade thumpy bumpy thing going on at ALL. TIMES. I am going crazy with the repetitive noise.

Edgar Allen Poe apparently knew my children.

Right now my biggest pet peeve, like yours, is people talking on their cell phones in stores. I was in Walgreens on Halloween, like a lot of people buying last minute panic candy. There was a woman with a shopping cart in the Halloween isle, talking on her phone blocking the isle. She was picking every little thing up, setting it back, just la dee da dee. Meanwhile she's on the phone with someone talking about her cats bowel movements, and if they saw the latest episode of Scandal. I just wanted to scream, get the eff out of the isle is you aren't really shopping! And yes your cat not pooping for three days is a reason to be concerned!!

People who can't put their shopping cart in the corral. People who let their kids run all over in stores/restaurants. People who go under the speed limit (snowbirds are back ugh). People who get all pissy with me at work and pull the whole "I pay your salary bs". No you don't jerk. And the customer is not always right. Period.

Lots, but #1 is when people interrupt me when I'm talking. I have a bit of a mental stutter (sometimes I have a long pause to get the word to come out) and if someone interrupts me, I totally lose my train of thought. I'll be done in a second I swear!

No specific area? Wow...could be a long list

People who drive at one, constant speed regardless of the relevant speed limit so sometimes they're speeding and sometimes they're going too slow.

Those stupid toilet paper dispensers in public restrooms that are mounted six inches above the floor. Really? I want my tp brushing along the dirty floor? Or having to bend over and fight to find the loose end on the roll.

Mount the damn things high enough for me to see what I'm doing and reach without being a contortionist. I guarantee you those things were neither invented nor installed by a woman.

WAIT, you put milk in tea??? I had no idea.

Anyway...

I have many (OCD, here). But, the first that came to mind was: parents who consistantly allow their children to interrupt an adult conversation. Um, no. Rude. Every child does it, and I'm not talking about the once or twice thing here...I'm talking about those parents who allow there children to rule every conversation, every time. NO, stop, and your child shouldn't have authority over you and/or our conversation.

Good question. When people make a mess and dont clean up after themselves and leave it for me to clean, WTF
People who wait till the last second to pull out in front of me, who have been sitting there for about 30 seconds, wait till I get close, and BAM they turn out in front of me
People who block there carts in the middle of the aisle and chit chat like they own the effing store. MOVE YOU A$$.

OHHHHHHHHHHHH, I just thought of something else that REALLLLY bugs me and always seems to be a problem for me....

PEOPLE WHO STEP RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME WHEN I'M SHOPPING...WHEN I'M LOOKING AT SOMETHING ON THE SHELF, AND THEY LITERALLY STEP RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME AS IF I WAS NOT THERE AT ALL.

I complained about this a lot to DH and over the past 6 months he has witnessed this happen to me several times. We finally decided that it MUST BE that the people are in their own little shopping world and think that I am a child (I'm 4'10). I was shopping for cell phone covers in walmart this week and the Walmart lady stood right in front of me and started restocking. WTH? I didn't say anything, but rather stepped over in a manner that caught her attention and she looked surprised and apologized. I really think she thought I was a child (there were 2 other children looking at covers on the same isle when this happened).

This! I'm a Bone Density tech and I can't tell you the number of times I've gone out into the waiting room and I've had to call a patients name repeatedly only to find them talking on their cell phone. Then, when I tell them I'm ready to do their exam they put their hand up to "shoosh" me and continue talking. Makes me insane.

I was in the middle of doing the exam on one lady when her phone started ringing in her purse. She actually jumped off the xray table while it was scanning to answer her phone. I was furious.

I could add mine...

Driving, if you are going to make a right hand turn, merge over if you're able to and turn, not stop in the damn street and THEN turn...Seriously!

Another is people who talk on cell phones or not see a signal change, or learn how to drive their car correctly.. Our first rain, some butthead drove a Chevy S10 nearly slid and slam into my jeep, umm HELLO its rear drive pickup drive it right or stay off the damn road... Then trying to merge on to the freeway is a nightmare.

Women who sprinkle when they tinkle and don't have the decency to wipe the seat for the next person.

If you're so precious you can't bear for your tush to touch the public toilet seat, then at least clean up your pee after your finish! To just leave it is disgusting and shows you are not only incredibly selfish, but also completely lacking any manners.

Mine is people who cross the street while talking on the phone/ear buds in, all without even bothering to look! It is especially infuriating in a parking lot when people have no sense of urgency.

Weddings that are all about the show and not about the promise and commitment between two people;

People with a sense of entitlement;

Parents who are not involved in their children's lives in a positive way or who have unrealistic expectations for their children;

Politicians and their constituents who know everything and nothing about education;

Private cell phone conversations in public spaces;

Not taking responsibility for what you do and what you need to do;

I am still looking for Thanksgiving stuff.

That said, I am getting some of my Christmas shopping done. But much of it, are things available now, (cold weather gear) or books.

The overuse of the word "obsessed". Are you really "obsessed" with that dress? That purse? That nail polish? Really??

It also grates on my nerves when people write "Love my boys!", "Love Saturdays!", "Love <insert whaterver they currently love here!" I know it's irrantional and sstupid, but how hard is it to add the "I"??

Two word movie titles with a name in them ...

Chasing Amy
Losing Isaiah
Teaching Mrs. Tingle
Finding Forrester
Being John Malkovich
Deconstructing Harry
Regarding Henry
Finding Nemo
Get Carter

Most of these show's I've never seen, but the names just GRATE ON MY NERVES!

The other thing that totally bugs the crap out of me is this lady I work with who stands behind my chair in my cube at work and will lean on or rub the back of the chair as she is talking to me. I'm a designer and I often have to show people things on my screen so my back is out to her while we are talking. It wiggles my chair and just send me over the edge!!!!

ETA - I have to add this because my daughter just did it ... Stand my me chawing on GUM!!! Mouth noises in general get on my nerves too.

I will stick with things around the house that I've been irritated by today (only because if I start listing all my pet peeves I will look like a freak!)

People who dump dirty dishes either on the counter above the dishwasher or in the sink so that I have to then empty the sink to fill it to wash them, or move the dishes into the dishwasher.

People who don't put things away and dump them on the kitchen counter.

Rubbish not getting put in the bin but next to the sink (the bin is in the cupboard under the sink)

A sense of entitlement and no understanding of time when asking about lunch or dinner (but I'm staaaaaaarving now, I don't want to wait 5 minutes till it's ready)

Can you tell I've had a slightly frustrating day?!

This made me giggle. I am not English, but I do know you put milk in tea, and no I don't drink tea (or coffee). LOL Too many TV shows, I guess.

My pet peeve is unappreciative people. You do something for them, like something big, as in helping them open their new brick and mortar store that they are weeks behind in getting open. You clean, take many many boxes of inventory home and price it, you bring said inventory back and merchandise said store. You clean. You cut things with your die cutting machine, etc. You spend 12 hrs there on opening day taking photos and get nothing. All the while, she is falling all over people that she PAID for their services of cake pops being made, cupcakes, the party planner helper, vinyl decal lady to make the vinyl for the store.. you get nothing. She tells your husband thank you for all he did. He hung two curtain rods. hmph. I didn't get a thank you. Guess she really wasn't a friend after all.. boy I feel used.

Oops, I was so distracted by milk in tea that I forgot my pet peeve. That would vary depending on where I am at any particular moment, but I'd say that today's would be the music in the hospital cafeteria. It's too loud for a cafeteria, and set to a particular popular radio station that wouldn't necessarily appeal to everyone.

And also, on the same theme, my grocery store that has started playing Christmas music. Also too loud.

Yeah, I'm a scrooge when it comes to music in public places. Have you ever been to the juniors department at Macy's? omg. Best day ever when dd was old enough to shop on her own.

People who say they are bored
People who take credit for things that they shouldn't
People who cast blame on others instead of owning up to their mistakes
People who use their phones while in a restaurant
People who use their kids as pawns in a divorce

People spitting in public.
People leaving their waste in a public toilet. It isn't hard to flush, and I get gaggingly grossed out when I open a stall and see that.
