It's like having a 2 year old around the house again. I have chased this little guy out of everything in the house. Duh, didn't even think about Christmas being so close. Guess our tree will be on the dining room table this year. That is if he hasn't figured out how to climb up there by then, lol

But dang, he IS so adorable. My havanese has become so attached to the little guy that he keeps guard on him. Whenever our other cat or dog gets near the kitten he chases them away. It is so cute to watch.

Meet Milo.

This pic is of Milo and his guard dog Baxter.

And these are kitty cutness

We have a Havanese that has anxiety.

I have been thinking about getting a kitten for him to keep him company.

I'm still on the fence but this is a good reminder its not all rainbows & unicorns.

Two words: squirt gun. Unfortunately our new little kitten actually likes getting squirted but it did work once. Just once. It hasn't worked since then so maybe that's not such good advice. My other cat has taken over mothering him and showing him the way around here.

I'm glad your pets are bonding so quickly. Animals have an amazingly open heart in their unconditional love and acceptance.

And yes, this thread is useless without pictures. Just sayin'.

I lost my beautiful Birman a couple of years ago and have been considering getting a kitten. Everything you describe just makes me want one more! The Christmas tree is a problem though - I have all glass baubles and can only imagine the mess a kitten could make! I definitely will be waiting until after Christmas if I do decide to go ahead

My kittens are almost three. Christmas the last couple of years has been a nightmare. I finally got a little fake tree with plastic balls and tucked away all my good ornaments. There was no amount of squirt guns or fussing or penny cans that would keep the little darlings away. I gave in and changed my expectations of what a tree should be.

We have a new kitten this year as well. I think she is almost 4 months old now and WOW. I forgot how much they get into everything! I'm also not looking forward to Christmas decorations! Luckily everything on my tree is shatterproof!

My only issue is that she seems to "play" rather rough with my other two cats. Don't get me wrong, they take care of themselves, but I'm worried that she's being a bit aggressive when she wrestles around with them. I'm also worried that I'm reading her actions as playfulness, when in actuality she's tormenting them. I guess I need to watch a few more episodes of My Cat from Hell...lol.

Yep, I've got a kitten over here too.

She's in to everything. And I mean every.single.thing.

But I love her so much.

The spray bottle doesn't work for my little love bug either - she loves water. Just closes her eyes and sticks her face right into the stream of water when I squirt her. She jumps into the bath tub with me too or into the shower. Loves to sit in the toilet too if we forget to put the lid down. Just sit in it. My weirdo didn't get the memo that cats don't like water.

it's tough, isn't it?? (but cute, indeed!) We still haven't let our new kitten have the run of the entire house when we're not home; there's just too many places she could get into- or under- lol! The first floor powder room is 'her' room at night when we go to bed, and during the day when we're at work.

My DH is asking himself the same thing about my little kitten. He admits that the cat is super cute, but boy is that little fuzzball a mess! It's an outdoor cat, so it only gets into stuff outside and likes to hang on the screen in the glass door. It consistently attacks my sister's leg and feet when she comes to the door, so even though he's majorly annoyed by the 'kitten phase of get into anything and everything available' he thinks it's hilarious when it gets my sister since he's only playing .

Awwww, I just love kittens. DS went to the animal shelter with a friend yesterday and wanted to bring home two more kittens and a dog. Not happening. I already have two cats and a dog.

We got our kittens just before Christmas and oddly, they've never bothered the tree. There's one bell ornament that they bat around, and they like to hide under the skirt, but I've never seen them trying to climb it. So maybe you'll luck out?

We got two kittens at the same time, so they chased each other and didn't destroy quite so much. Except the screens. The female loves to chew her way out of screens. And she hangs on the front screen door -- you can open the door and she just hangs there.

Please, please, please be careful of this. I've known kittens that have drowned this way because they couldn't get purchase on the slick bottom.

Spraying works so well on our cats that we just have to pick up the bottle for them to stop what they are doing. Most of the time.

I know exactly what you're going through! We got a puppy last month, she's about 4 months old now and is a menace! She gets into everything, and gets a hold of stuff and races through the house and out the back door. Over the weekend, she took a pair of underwear, jeans and countless stuffed animals out the door. I know she has something when she comes tearing through, closely followed by one of the kids. Of course, she thinks them chasing after her is playing. We haven't all left the house together since we got her b/c we're afraid of what she'll do left home alone! We finally broke down and ordered a dog crate. It's been set up for a couple days now and the door is always open so she can go in and out of it and get comfortable with it. It's huge, we could fit 4 dogs her size in it, so she will have plenty of room. Makes me sad to have to do, but I'm afraid she'll get into something bad for her, never mind the destruction we'd return to! Good thing we're already attached to her. Her name is Senna, but has learned to answer to Senna Beast and Senna the Menace.

I was going to say the same thing! Good luck with him not getting on the table We have our tree in front of our picture window. There are nails behind the curtain against the woodwork. They attach to the string that ensures our x-mas tree stays upright, lol!

I love that the dog is protecting him. So darn cute! Our 1 1/2 year old pup would love nothing better than to bond with our cats - not about to happen!

We have 2 ragdoll brothers, almost three years old now, and we're getting two more in June next year. They were hard work as kittens, but at least they were small and fairly lightweight. Now they're both topping the 9-10 kg mark and they STILL act like kittens. 10 kilos of cat suddenly landing on your chest in the wee hours of the morning can give you a hell of a wake up call. They race down the hallway and stop themselves by running into the glass door at the end. Built for looks, not brains. They hide under the bed and grab your foot as you get up. NOT COOL, if you've been reading Stephen King with only a nightlight. Hektor has an obsession with strawberries. Achilles likes to fetch. I can't wait till my 'new' babies arrive. Crazy cat lady and PRRRROUD of it!!

Hang your Christmas tree from the ceiling. And keep all electric chords away... Kittens are lively. And don't forget poinsettias are poisonous! Oh, you're going to have a busy holiday.

He is so darling. I love kittens. We have 2 orange tabbies that are 1.5 years. Last Christmas they spend most of the holidays climbing the tree. We only put non-breakable ornaments on the tree and no garland. By Christmas day our tree was looking pretty Charlie-brown.

If you are really going to crate train this pup, make the crate smaller with a box or tub. It truly helps with house breaking.

He's adorable! I love the pictures -- and pictures of kittens can't possibly be too huge.

Look at those fluffy little paws.

My cat plays with my dog exactly the same way -- holding on to the dog's face with his paws.

OMG!! He is ADORABLE!!! Just want to gobble him up.

For the Christmas Tree, don't decorate the lower limbs where he can reach. Tether the tree to the ceiling, use fishing line and you won't even see it. You can try putting "collar" around the last branches of the tree to try and keep him from climbing up it.
I am suggesting this because I have BTDT. Three kittens at one time. Long story.
I'm sure he will bring much love and fun. Love his name. It fits him.

Don't even entertain the thought that you will be able to have a Christmas tree this year. I had to go 2 years no tree and on the 3rd year all ornaments were yarn poof balls, candy canes and plastic stuff - oh, and no tinsel (dangerous).

I had to laugh at #thisiswhywecanthavenicethings. Soooo true here. In 3 years of 2 crazy cats they have broken pretty much everything made of glass, including Murano glass vases (hand carried back from Italy), centerpieces and anything else on a table, etc They slid/slam into everything sending it flying. You get the idea.

They are so much fun to watch though, aren't they. #BetterThenXanax
