Tis' the season for all the BF ads and plans for shopping.

I am probably in the minority--but this year, I am staying home!

Who else has plans to just stay put, craft at home, hang out with family and friends or just rest?

Anything other than shopping?

The only black friday shopping I've ever done is to hit Wegmans and get the ready to cook appetizers from the meat department on manager's special. LOL

I always stay home, that's my day to put away the thanksgiving decorations and get out the Christmas stuff. My family is also doing no gifts this year so I have no reason to be out competing with the crowds.

Nope. The only thing I am interested in is the aerobed from Target! I may use that time to repaint the basement.

No one in our house does Black Friday. It's just never appealed to any of us. We just hang out around home and avoid the crowds. We usually set up the trees, begin holiday decorations and take the dogs for extra time at the dog park

We never really did all the ads and shopping-we were never after any of the electronics, computers phones or games anyway

I used to LOVE BF, but I haven't been since I've had kids.

This year some of the big toys my kids want are on sale BF at TRU.

So I'm debating going.

I've never done TRU on BF though, so I'm a little scared lol.

The ONLY places we go on BF is REI, just for fun, and Bread Winner's for brunch. That's IT. I'm totally fine with avoiding all shops that day and all malls starting that weekend all through Dec.

No BF for me this year! We are hosting friends for Thanksgiving and they will most likely stay late!

Hoping to have all my shopping done by then anyway -- really trying to do experiences over stuff this year anyway....

Working at 7:30 Thursday evening - retail. It's the first time Penneys has opened on thanksgiving but since most of our competitors are open, we really have no choice.

Business has really picked up at our DFW store !

We went Black Friday shopping once, and swore NEVER again, lol. I'm just not one of those people who enjoy that sort of thing. Now we do the Cyber Monday shopping and check our email to see where some good online deals will be over the Thanksgiving weekend.

We've done pretty well that way, and I much prefer shopping in my pj's from the recliner

I have never been a huge BF shopper to begin with. I have hit a store or two but only if there is an item that I want that has a super price but probably won't all be grabbed up the minute the store opens. For instance, I bought my Cricut at a BF sale a few years ago. I walked in after the opening time, picked up a Cricut and went to check out. No cart to deal with so I could maneuver through the crowds with no problem.

With all of the stores beginning to open on Thanksgiving Day, I wonder if BF is going to be a thing of the past within a few years.

I love BF shopping but I swore I'd never do TRU again - I just hate the way it is set up going up and down the aisles. Last year we got everything we wanted there online thanksgiving day.

I've been out shopping on BF before but hated it. Long lines, no real bargains, up way to early, too hard to find a sitter because everyone I know either shops or has to work, etc. So for the past few years, me and the girls have stayed home and put up our Christmas tree. I asked Miss Lerin if we should do that this year and she swayed at first, she liked the idea of shopping all day, but was won over by decorating the tree. So we'll be decorating the tree again (thank goodness)!

I do a lot of our holiday shopping online, it's so much easier that way. And I have it shipped somewhere else, so the girls don't suspect a thing.

DH has to be to work at 230am Friday morning, do for the first time in 4 years we won't be going out. For us it was more about spending time together and shopping without the kids than it was scoring any big deals, so while my wallet will be happy, I'm not really happy we won't be going.

I tried the black Friday thing once. Must have been 2-3 years ago, a Wal-Mart crockpot. Yep, didn't get one, but did see them piled in other shoppers carts. Never ever again. Still don't have a crockpot, but life seems fine.

Here's how crazy I was, I was actually planning on purchasing other non-sale things as well. Just goes to show how deluded I was about people being willing to fight over something as mediocre as a cheap crockpot. That and thin towels. Towels were flying through the air. Who knew.

So yeah, I won't be at a store either. Anywhere else.

I am with the homebodies... I HATE black Friday! Yes I mean HATE!

I don't like people and I don't like shopping so to put me in the crowds on black Friday would only make it worse.

I have a phobia of being in crowds of unknown people so I am better off in my house doing anything but shopping.

Happy scrapping

I go to Target at about 6:00 or so. They often have great deals on DVDs and such. I take my time. Get a SB coffee and walk slowly through the store. Then I head over to Michael's, to see if there's anything I need to add to my always growing collection of Christmas decorations. Sometimes I head to Sears if DH sees something that he wants. Otherwise, its a very casual day.

I will be working.

I have never really done the BF thing. Went several years ago very early to KB toys! not sure what I went to get. I remember walking in and wondering what the hot item in the bike and outdoor toy aisle was because there were so may people in that aisle. Turns out it was the checkout line that was wrapped around the store. I turned around and left.

A few years ago we were spent the holiday at the Dells with family. We decided to go to kohls and Walmart. It wasn't too crazy, but not worth getting up at 3am.

My favorite time to shop on BF is actually after work. I work at a credit union, so that means going shopping around 6pm. Most stores still have good sales, even if the door busters are gone. The best part is that the crowds are not huge and usually every register is was always my favorite because they didn't do door busters so no reason to get there early.

This year I am already almost done with my Christmas shopping, thanks in large part to online shopping!

DD might go out and pick up a couple things.
But, after looking at the ads, it's unlikely.
I can pick up the one item I want at work.

I've never gone shopping on Black Friday because when I work, I've never had it off until last year and this year. I have Friday's off. BUT, this will be the third time (and in a row) that I've worked Thanksgiving.

The first year, I got off at 4:30pm and the sales started at 10:00 pm Thanksgiving night. Last year, I my SCHEDULE said 1 pm to 10pm but I worked Thanksgiving day from 1 pm to 12:30 AM Black Friday morning. Schedule is still not up, not sure what it is this year but I know that the sales start at 6 pm Thanksgiving night.

The only time I shopped Black Friday was 2010, I had to take Michel outside at about 3 am so I turned on the computer and he sat in my lap while I shopped at one of my favorite eBay sellers BF sale. LOVE what I got! Then, went back to bed and went to work as usual.

We host a big Thanksgiving family feast.

The last thing I would want to do after all that work, is shop.

We do have guests who hit the sales afterward. Have at it, I say, as I wash dishes, and put away food.

My daughter has wanted to hit the BF sales for years, but could find no one to take her. This year, she's got her license. I've given her permission to take my car. Have at it dear, I will sleep through it.

I use to work retail and always said the BF shoppers are insane and I will never do it. So 3 years ago Walmart started their sales late on Thanksgiving and I said to my sister let's check it out. Once the clock hit I think it was midnight that year all hell broke loose. I never saw anything like it. Grown people shoving and trying to kill each other for a video game. I felt bad for the poor girl who had to cut the plastic wrap off the pallet they almost trampled her. We just stood back and watched. So now we go every year just to see what goes on. Last year there was a huge fight an hour before the sale started over someone putting their hand on a pile of towels that were on sale. We go with stuff we want in mind if we get it great if we don't oh well we are not going to hurt anyone for a towel or video game. So mostly we go to laugh at how ridiculous some people are. I try to get some toys cheap for Toys for Tots at least.

There is nothing I need that bad to put my life at risk. Each year the stories of people getting trampled, fist fights, etc just gets worse. People behaving like animals is really not how I want to kick off the holiday season.

We really don't do alot of gifts anymore, so nothing we really need. Hubby and I got just for the time together and the fun. Don't know if we will be going this year or not as $$ is really tight. We'll see - so far there is nothing that I'm seeing that even interests me.

I don't think we are in the minority, really. I know very few people who participate in BF.

I used to when it was just a get up and go early (6 a.m.) in the morning on Friday sort of thing with some lines, but no trampling. Of course, it had to be turned into something entirely different. There is no way I would give up a family holiday to spend it at a store rather than spend it focused on family and friends.

i celebrate National Buy Nothing Day every year on the day after Thanksgiving.

Tho, depending how they fall out, i might be at work. Which i shouldn't sigh about and should be grateful for... Staying home and scrapping or cleaning or just being sounds wonderful.
