We met in January, started 'fooling around' in April, (we had both gotten out of serious LTR in December, and weren't really looking for anything to serious at first) We started dating in June, got engaged at the end of August, and were married 14 months later. Hit our 2 year mark in September. Not without a lot of bumps and second guessing, but I wouldn't change it, and he I stuck with me.

We dated for 7 years, engaged 7 months, will be married 4 years at the end of the month. I would have preferred to be engaged a lot sooner I had a content boyfriend at the time. I had to push a little

Just a couple of months, but we had been friends for over 10 years before we started dating (very When Harry Met Sally). We got married just about a year after we got engaged.

4 years of dating and a 2 year engagement. The only reason the engagement was so long was because we were planning a long distance wedding and reception and wanted it to be perfect. And we were in grad school at the time. Looking back we should have saved all that trouble and gone to some tropical island and gotten married after a few months of being engaged.

DH and I had "casually" dated for about a month before he moved out of state. I fell in love with him during that month of casual dating, although I didn't let him know. We kept in touch every once in a while writing letters back and forth for a year or so.

In March of 1980, he came back to our home town during his spring break. We went on a date the first night, ended up spending the entire week together, and were talking about forever then. When he came back in May, we went to MA to attend his best friend's wedding. He asked me to marry him in Northeast Harbor, ME. He even surprised me with an engagement ring! Swoon

So, engaged in May, married in December, and have been married 33 years this coming December. I still adore him!

We got engaged about 3 months after we started dating, and married about 3 months later. I was 21 and husband was 20. I wasn't pregnant either (most people thought I must be.) We just had our 19th wedding anniversary last week.

We dated for a year, lived together for a year, then got married. Always knew we would get married. No traditional "engagement"---I did not want a ring but preferred to put the money toward a house---but we married about nine months after he "asked."

Hmm... dated a year or two and agreed we wanted to get married. "Formal" spontaneous proposal about two years in. Got a ring about 3 1/2 years into the relationship.

But we didn't actually get married until 10 years in, by mutual agreement. We've been together 22 years total now.

Wow, y'all move quickly!!

My husband and I first met in August 1995.....proposed October 2001, married June 2003..

So, we dated for 6 years and 2 months before we got engaged.....and were engaged for 20 months before we got married.

Now married 10 years and 5 months and things are still going strong. We were both teenagers when we met (17 and 19), and he is actually the only boyfriend I ever had. Met him on a freshman scavenger hunt during orientation week at Linfield College. We lived in the same dorm and have been basically inseparable ever since. He is without a doubt the best friend I have ever had.

We basically grew up together, and went from stupid teenagers making poor decisions to financially and emotionally stable people. We have been through deaths in the family, health crises for both of us; times of financial peril, etc. Truly for better for worse/in sickness and in health..... and we made them take out the 'til death do us part' area in our vows, because I am not going to let a little thing like death keep us apart.

We weren't dating when we got engaged.

I was telling people I was engaged, and they were like, "to WHO?"

Really though we had known each other for 4 years, although for 2 of those years he was on his mission and our only contact was writing letters. We weren't officially "dating" though. We lost contact after a year, then when he came home we started talking on the phone and became friends again. I dated other guys (nothing exclusive) until he flew 2,000 miles to visit me for a couple of days and then we decided to get married.

Technically speaking, we never officially dated. We went out on some group dates, never just the two of us, when I was in high school (he is 4 years older than me), but we were never exclusive. I always had a date with someone else in between my dates with him. And we didn't even kiss, although we were pretty crazy about each other. Even back then, we figured we would get married some day.

He was my best friend long before we were ever engaged. It's been a happy 6 years of marriage so far.

Now, as a sigh of relief to those who don't want their kids to get engaged/married as quickly as they did.....

It took me 4 years from the first date to the wedding date. But my parents had their first date in October, became engaged in January, and married in June. So less 7 months from first date to wedding date.

And their firstborn didn't arrive until 11.5 months after the wedding.

DH and I started to date in 1998, dated and lived then engaged in 2001, married in 2003. Still together going strong!

My sister and her boyfriend have dated for 5 years and they keep saying they are on a "10 year" when someone asks they just say tell them 10 years. However it hit my sister that in 10 years our mom will be 70, so she said she will marry before then

We had worked together during high school but never dated. I even went with him to buy a "promise ring" for his then girl friend. We were great friends.

We lost touch for several years during college. I met p with some other friends one night and he was there.

We started dating the next week, December 1992. Unofficially engaged in May 1993 and we moved to Indiana. Got a real ring in July. We were married January 1994.

So, 5 months after dating we were engaged and 8 months later we were married. 20 years strong this January.
