I haven't decided yet....I was taking the RuPaul "Better Work It" theme quite literally as the official theme for this swap, and wondering what in the heck I could do with it. Now you're saying it could be any theme at all, but not to label it as such for your swap partner? Still think the standard or business envelope is, for me at least, limiting. I would want to include more than stamped images, card stock, paper, a die cut - enough, that is for several options for the recipient.

LOL, Molly (& anyone else). Sorry if the RuPaul quote "You better work!" was confusing. It did not refer to a 'theme'. It was simply my lame way of letting swappers understand that this was going to require a tight frame in terms of getting their kits made & sent.

Far as finding the envelope size limiting? I guarantee you it is not. BUT... April & I are not going to be checking your 'size'. We are just putting players on their honor to honor the envelope size requirement. And...your kit must be one (1) envelope only. No sending multiple envelopes to a fellow swapper.

I'm a master at finding loopholes in a swap host's requirements, so good luck finding any in ours...

Molly you crack me up The envelope size is somewhat limiting but not as limiting as one might think The kit is not necessarily meant to give the person everything they need for their finished item. Just keep in mind that the receiver only has to use three of the items from the kit per finished project. Just give it a try. You will be surprised at how easy it really is

WTG about the kit contents not being the only things we can use for making projects. Excellent point, partner!

April & I have discussed the January swap a lot! We are comfortable enough with what we've come up sufficently to do a blog for this swap.

Please NOTE! The sign up thread will not be posted until 12/26, but since we have already accepted pre-registration by a few StamPeas, we have agreed to allow others to pre-register, as well. Please read the blog carefully before you commit to this swap, however.

We are also going to request that anyone who joins the swap prior to Jan. 1 post to the thread by Jan. 5 to confirm their status as active swappers.

Also... If you have decided to include a duplicate stamp in your kit, you are not required to include additional stamped images--your choice.

If after reading the blog you still have questions, please post them on this thread. So (drumroll please) here's the January 2014 Kit-In-An-Envelope Swap Blog

April! I am chortling like crazy over your 2nd project! Not only is it completely different than anything I 'expected', but also very clever & (even) subtle.

Since you only shared what items (4) you used in the piece (& that's perfectly fine), I'm able to share what you did.

The use of the diecut is easy to see. April used the center of this diecut as the 'lilypad' in her 1st project.

The punchout flowers on the wreath are from one face of a doubleface pp. Love them!

The border took me a few moments to figure out. Then I realized you had layered two identical punched ones slightly offset! Brilliant! The under layer is from the blue CS in the kit. The top layer is the reverse face of the 2nd pp I put in the kit.

Since I have the identical kit, I know what & even roughly how much April still has in her kit. Lots! WTG, pal! My 2 projects are very different from yours & that's part of the fun! I'll share them soon as I'm able!

Not me, April. I'm done with the test kit for now. Have to work on getting my Jan kit together & finish items for another swap so my decks are clear for the time being.

I think this sounds like a really fun idea! Now that my phone job is winding down, I think I may be able to participate in this.

Hope you will be joining us, Kathy. I have your shipping address, but will wait to see if you sign up when the I start that thread--just in case you aren't able to join in. If you (or anyone else) are sure you will be part of this swap, you can (as I've already posted) pre-register. OK?

Now... Courtesy of my partner April, Here are 2 kit projects. Please NOTE... You are only required to send a kit to someone; NOT completed projects.

I had to laugh when I got the photos from April. I forgot that I had thrown a small craftfoam piece in the envelope to her. It was the same as the one frog in the kit(s). She probably thot it had fallen off the one project. Silly me! I should have put a note in the envelope. That'll teach me!

OOPS! Forgot to state what my minimum 3s were!

Project #1: frog, dragonfly & pp

Project #2: frog, cs & pp

Bless her heart. April (who's not feeling well today) photo'd project #1 with the craftfoam removed. Tried to add it to my original upload without success--arrrgh!

Without the craftfoam

As I view it now, I'm a bit sorry I didn't back the polka dot area with a piece of darker cs to set it off from the BG, but such is crafting, eh?!

After much consideration, I would like to join in on this swap! I will just have to get busy as soon as I receive my kit. Mailing to Canada is slow but when I mail from here it usually only takes a week to get to the US.

Looking forward to swapping!

Hi 'Joe'! So pleased you are joining the swap. I got your PM so you are pre-registered.

A head's up to anyone else who wants to get in early. Just heard from April (CG). She has the flu! Bless her. Best to send any PM with address to me (Looser) for now.

Also... I will try to PM swappers with their 'swapmates' shiping address so they can avoid having to contact them for it. That should save a bit of time--long as your 'send' kit is ready to go by Jan 3. Final kit shiping deadline will still be Jan. 11.

LOL, April! Glad to hear my co-host is surviving. Sorry about your little guy.

We've opened the sign-up thread. Please check it if you have already pre-registered. I listed those I was 'sure' of.

A 'gentle' reminder (aka 'nag') If you know you are going to be part of this swap, you are well advised to make up your 2 kits--one to send & one to keep--so you can slap an address & postage on your send envelope as soon as you have your 'send-to' name. We have 2 swappers already whose mail 'travel time' may be a bit longer.

Great challenge!!
I just read the entire thread!
I am from India.
Can I participate in this swap? Also I would want to see a visual of the kit if I am allowed.

LOL, Tarvina! Since you read the thread you already know we are not doing a visual for the kit. Sorry if that's a 'deal breaker' for you, but you are most definitely welcome to join the swap. Our furthest swapper is in Australia so India is not a huge stretch!

I sent you a PeaMail & forwarded it to my cohost Caribbeangirl (April)

Welcome to the Stamping Forum!

My kit is half ready to send to my secret swap mate, hehehe. Are we receiving a kit from the person we are sending one to? Or is that a secret also? hehehe.

I actually have 2 different kits. Sitting here looking at them and deciding what stamps go with them before I decide which to send! So if we do next month I'll be ready, lol.

Could be I'll send the one that I've already decided to make a project out of!

I don't think the envelope size is limiting at all. You can fit a lot in a 4 by 9 envelope!

Kathy. Having an idea for a project is a great approach to building your kit.

Short answer to you 'Q' about who'll be sending a kit to you? Wait & see!

April & I would like to request that any new posts about the Jan. Kit Swap be done on the Sign-up thread.

This will benefit all those who have already joined the swap or are considering doing so.

That thread is where we will be chatting, answering questions, sharing stuff & yadda, yadda.
