New meds, my doctor will only write for a couple of weeks (6-8 weeks) and then we have to come in and see her again to ensure they are working the way she wants. Once we do that, she'll write the prescription for an entire year. I think that's reasonable.

For most meds, every three months seems a bit much.

My dr's office just recently started doing this. The nurse told me it is the policy of the new operating company or whatever.

I go to my gp once a year. We have never actually spoken about refills. The pharmacy calls the office and he approves it. I'll be a little more grateful from now on!

I'm on synthroid and my doctor requires blood work every three months. I did have some stablization issues in the past, but it has been pretty good for the past year. I may ask if we can go to 6 month intervals, as it is difficult for me to get off work (I start at 6:30 AM and the doctor doesn't open until 7 AM). My boss is sick of my "blood work appointments" and having to get someone else to do the morning report.
