The Page Girls

Ho Ho Ho.....
Santa whispered in my ear and said bring those crafters some more holiday cheer! So here we go , one time again December 21st... 75% off everything excluding hand crafts and 3/1 glue.. So please come on in and enjoy the cheer as you know that the Page Girls will always be here!

They had a sale on Black Friday where everything was 50% off. They did a sale they called "Wacky Wed" and had everything 75% off except new lines. This email didn't mention anything about new lines. I fear that they may be closing. 75% off your entire purchase is unheard of.

What do you think?

Yikes! That doesn't sound good at all. My LSS offers 25% off one item every so often, but even then they have lots of limitations (no classes, no clearance items,...). Hopefully they aren't closing on you.

It they were trying to just move out old merchandise to make room for the new CHA stuff maybe it would make sense. This includes almost everything, and I would be concerned they are closing.

Where is this store? I agree that it could be just getting people in the store period. Clearing out their items for new CHA releases. They would have marked them clearance soon enough too, and it is only for day. If they had if for longer than that, then I would worry.

If they didn't have plans to go out of business before these sales I would think they will be out of business anyway shortly. You can't run a business doing 75% off everything you sell.

One of my LSS stores had a huge sale off everything (can't remember the % right now) because they were "making room for new CHA items" and then 2-3 weeks later they closed.

Doesn't sound good.....

That would worry me a bit too. do they have a large client base?? My LSS has 50% off most everything right now. It is a two day sale, but I am not worried. It is to make way for CHA items and to avoid inventory.

75% off is basically them charging you what they paid for it. I would venture to say they are probably closing. I sure hope not, but I guess, at least you can bet some bargains.

Tons of stuff to be had. I only spent 10 and got two things. There isn't really anything I need. I got a really pretty book mark and a Just Rite Vertical UC stamper set. I had other items in my basket, but put them back. Honestly I really don't need anything. It will be sad to see them leave.

Unless they r marking up more than keystone ,75% is below what they r paying for it. When I closed I never went more than 50%. My guess us- they r closing.

Wow, deja vu. There was an LSS near me that did almost the exact same thing a couple of years ago. They had a big clearance sale the beginning of Janurary supposedly to make space for new merchandise. They too said they were moving to a new location. Some of us suspected they were actually going to close, and that's exactly what happened.

Makes no sense! What store can afford to sell everything for 75% off? If they weren't in financial distress before that sale they certainly will be afterward. I wonder if it was a typo?

It was for EVERYTHING in the store except the glue listed in the email. The email before listed everything except the new lines. Not this email. I wish I was able to take advantage of this great sale. I went, but in the end didn't really need anything. Crazy right?

I would think they are closing fast. No one jumps to 75% off like that unless they needed to vacate their space soon.

This time of year, most retailers are desperate, even big chains. They are staying open for extended hours to earn a buck.

Wasn't Scrapbook Oasis "moving" to a new location also, and then they just disappeared?

One of my LSS's did that also. They were moving, but still had not found a place........and then they never came back to update anything.

It sounds like they are closing.

Scrapbooks Plus did a big Black Friday sale to reduce inventory before rearranging everything, but they did reorganize the store over the holidays and reopened Jan. 3rd. The store looks awesome, better arranged to make things easier to find. She arranged for an interior designer to design the store layout, but she had to work with what was already there (no new walls or breaking down walls). She also got better lighting. The last one reassured me, because you don't pay for a bunch of better lights if you are about to fold. Oh, and she added more tables and chairs to the crop room, too, which had been enlarged slightly.

She never offered more than 40% off, unlike your LSS. Of course, she was not "moving to a different location," but it was still a ton of work to rearrange it all.

I just can't see a store offering 75% off sale prices, and selling furniture, unless they are closing. If you are enlarging the crop room, would you sell the tables and chairs? Not unless they were too flimsy to crop on. You'd need more of them, not less.

Are they in a mall or strip mall? Some malls actually prohibit their tenants from having "going out of business" sales. If someone is actually going out of business they have to come up with a different way to promote their liquidation. I had a business in a strip mall a long time ago that had that restriction written into the lease. I couldn't do sidewalk sales there either.

Most places that are moving tell you where they're going. Looks like the only place this store is going is out of business. That's just way too big a discount, and they're selling the furniture as well. But then again, why would they lie about it? Makes no sense.

I posted earlier about a store in my area doing the same thing a few years ago. Furry Pea brought up Scrapbook Oasis, which is the store I was talking about. They had been stocking less and less merchandise, not updating their once active blog, and closing earlier than their posted hours. Then they had a huge end of the year sale and the owner told people they were moving. Some of us suspected they were closing, which was correct. By January they were gone.

I wouldn't be surprised if they were just going out of business instead of discounting. They never did discounts like that before. They basically took all their old stuff that they had when they had a store here in Big Bear and moved it down to you guys. It's go to be even more out of date than it was before. I wonder if it all still smells of sassafras tea. I could never bring anything home from there because I couldn't get the stink out. I'd go, see if they have anything worth getting, and take advantage because they probably won't pop up again.

This little store is located in Ladera Ranch in a little strip mall. Very nice area. I went to their last posted 75% off sale. I only walked out with 10.00 worth of stuff. I tried real hard to get more. I just don't have the need for anything. They had lots of stuff. It all depends on what you are looking for. I didn't need any paper, stickers, inks or stamps. If I was new to scrapping I would have been in heaven.

ETA: I did find it odd that the sales girl couldn't tell me where they were moving when I asked her why the sale. It is a very small store. I'm not sure how they could get the crop area any bigger without taking up the product space.
