I'm going to be visiting Chicago area (downtown Chicago & Naiperville) in a couple of weeks. I was wondering if there are any scrapbook stores that are centrally located. There is a Michael's near me, and one other regional chain store (I live in Oregon) and I am hoping to shop at an independent store. Thanks for any information!!

I think there's still an Archiver's in Downer's Grove (between Chicago and Naperville), and it should be having a big closing sale right now.

(I lived in the western suburbs for several years, so I'm not aware of any stores downtown, but I'm certainly not the final word. I was out of the scrapbooking loop for a lot of the time that I lived there.)

You might also look into finding a Paper Source - there are several in the Chicago area. It's not specifically a scrapbooking store, but they do carry some things in addition to a lot of blank cards and envelopes and lots of fun gifts and craft-related items.

Memories and Beyond is in Downers Grove, which is a hop, skip and a jump from Naperville. It's a pretty big store. I haven't been there in a long time, but I plan on heading there soon since Archivers is gone.

Other than that, nothing in that area that I'm aware of.

Memories and Beyond is about the only one in the area, besides As.

Enjoy your visit, I hope the weather is a little warmer while you're here.

There is a Paper Source in Naperville in the downtown area. It's near the Eddie Bauer and the Apple store.

An Archivers is on the corner of Rt 59 and New York St near the mall. It's in the Naperville/Aurora area.

There were several independent stores in the Fox Valley area, but they've all since closed.

Paper Source is really all that's left, aside from the aforementioned DG Archivers. No independent stores in the western 'burbs. It is a bummer.

Nothing in the city but Paper Source, which is a paper craft store (lots of cards and invitations). I like Craft Fancy in Arlington Heights but that's not close to where you will be.

Thanks for all the information! There used to be a couple of independent stores near me, but they've closed as well. I'm looking forward to visiting a couple of these places! I know you all are probably tired of winter weather but I'm hoping there's some snow (kind of rarity here in Portland) or at least more wintry weather than we've had so far.

Take that back!!!!

J/K--The way our weather has been this winter, you'll probably get your winter weather. It seems it snows every other day or so.

Have fun!
