I am trying to use a 3D rosette from the online store. I am needing to resize it. I watched a video online and the lady just selected the whole image and then ungrouped it. When i select the whole image it isn't giving me that option. It is only letting me make and unmake a compound path. Which is not helping bc is disconnecting the perferated lines. I dont understand what I am doing wrong.

And I am using the Designer Edition, if that makes any difference.

When resizing - you want to keep everything grouped until you have it resized, or things will not match up...

To ungroup - I ususually just right click on the design. Choose "ungroup" from the menu that pops up.

Then click OFF the design so it is no longer selected (no box around it) .. then click back on the parts you want to work with.... Click and drag around the parts of the design you want grouped again later and right click and select group.

Hope this helps.

That is what I am trying but when i right click and go down the options to group and ungroup and greyed out. (cant be clicked). If I try to resize the whole thing it makes the little circles into ovals and thats not what I am wanting.

I still couldn't figure it out.. I'm still learning this machine.
This time it got the best of me and I just resized the image and left the little circles as what are now ovals. I don't think anyone will notice but me.

Thanks so much for all your help.

The Design ID #21879 (just incase you were still wanting it)

Now that I started. I found the exact file she used by lori Whitlock. Im kicking myself bc now i wish I wouldve looked for it harder before i started cutting.

Hmmm... I didn't have any trouble with the ungroup on that file.

Maybe your file was corrupted on download? Sometimes you just have to close out of the program and restart it when a file doesn't work too.

When you resized - did you use the box to drag it, or did you open the Scale window and specify the dimensions? If you do it that way - you can select LOCK ASPECT RATIO, change one direction's measurements and it automatically does the other, so everything stays in the correct proportions.

I didnt end up even using that design after all. When I got one cut out the ovals were gonna drive me nuts. So I bought the Lori Whitlock 3d rosette and did it how the video explained. Worked great.
I'mnot sure what was going on with the original one. I used tthescale window but did llockratio bc iIwanted the length to be the same.
Long story short... I got it all to workout . Thank you so much for your help and taking the time to respond.

Sounds like you were trying to make it bigger by not pulling the corner when you were resizing. Make sure when you are trying to make something bigger you grab the corner resizing tool not the middle ones. Also if something has been put together with a Compound Path you do have to be careful when you release it. I try very hard when I have a compound path to select stuff very carefully and re do the Compound path on select pieces so I can move them.
