Iring- I sent you pea mail with my address.

I will have to stop at the post office to mail to SarBear since I have no idea what the postage to Australia is. I don't think I have ever sent anything there in my life!

Looks like we're doing really well getting our kits built & in the mail this month. Good for us!

Sophi. Nice thing about only sending a regular size envie to Aus. & Can. is that the postage is not tons more than here in the US. But, like you, it often means traveling to a P.O.

Neysa. Sounds good. As we've said, it's up to each swapper to decide when they want to share from their kept kit.

Veronica. Darn! I can see you thumbnails, but can't get your full size pics to show. Glitch might be my puter or a 2Ps gremlin. The thumbnails look great, tho'! You've sent Neysa a lot of goodies to play with. So you've got one of the two required projects done. As you know your other required will be the ATC-size one (info on the blog).

I have my Mar. tag out for mail pick up & it works for one of my 'required'. I still have the ATC one to do. I want to see what I get from Nerd & use her kit for the ATC, but also have some good options remaining in my kept for an ATC piece.

Onward & upward! All kits must be mailed by March 8, but looks like we're all on the ball with that!

Finally got the 'tech' to cooperate so I could see your full size pics, Veronica. Left praise & comments.

As we continue to build, send & create projects, I'm up for hearing thots & comments from all players about the 'surprise' factor regarding sharing pics of projects & kits.

Since necessity has dictated that we no longer keep match-ups a surprise, we can still choose to surprise one another in other areas--projects & kits.

I'm (mostly) on the side of "I don't mind seeing project or kit pics" before the real thing (kit) reaches my mailbox since pics (no matter how good) are not the same as holding the contents in my hot 'little' hands.

With sharing projects before the 'sent' kit reaches affecting my project? I admit it might, but that ain't necessarily bad. Might just spark my imagination in a way I hadn't considered before. More likely? I'll view what my sender did, like it & then do my own thing.

There are no wrong answers to this aspect of this swap, so please feel free to post how you 'feel' about this or any part of the KIAE 'experience'.

April & I are not just the hosts of this swap/challenge. We are also your fellow swappers & each of you represents a partner in this, too!

I know I said I would join March. I am so sorry but I am bowing out again. Taxes were a nightmare last month. It was worse than we anticpated. I have been really ill too. February was just a crazy and awry month. Crossing fingers I will get to join April swap. I am having withdrawals.

LOL, April. As I shared during today's 'bored' meeting with you... Long as you're 'iced-in', whatever gets lost has to be around the house somewhere. Check the dog's dish.

OK troops! Time for this month's host to 'confuse the players' (possibly)...

I'm 99% finished with the ATC-size project I've been working on. While struggling a bit to abide by the '3 item rule' for it, I realized a few things & thot I'd share them with my fellow KIAE pals. They are NOT loopholes in the required projects, but might assist some in using their kits (kept & recieved) to make (& share) more than the required number & type of projects. (See blog for details on that).

Once you have met the required part of a monthly KIAE, the 3 item rule ceases to be in force. That means that you can make stuff that only has 1 or 2 items from a kit. You can even (& I hope some of you will) make projects combining items from both kits. If you have stuff left from previous months' kits? Great! Use them too. BUT... (there's always a 'but' with me & no cracks, April) When you share these projects PLEASE share what kit items you used.

For this month, we're saying the 'requires' have to come first. Down the the line we 'may' allow players a looser (clever, huh?) rein on what/when kit projects can be shared--long as all required stuff is shared by end-of-the-month.

I've got Daniel's kit ready. I just have to address it and add postage. So it will go out in tomorrows mail. If I had had more time this weekend, I would have sent you a really evil gag kit in response to that diabolical comment, but I just didn't have enough time. It would have been really girly, with very few options. But I figured that I should get the real kit done first and by the time I got finished with that, I didn't have time to be evil.

I'm looking foward to receiving my kit for Snickerdoodle this week.

I already know how I'm going to use my kept kit and I can't wait to see what I have to work with in my received kit.

On the to be suprised or not to be suprised topic, I kinda like being suprised. Happy suprises in the mail are always nice.

Sincere thanks, tho'! 'Ape'* & I so love when we KIAEs post fun stuff (like yours).

Daniel, I doubt what I had planned would have beaten you, just perplexed and perturbed you a little. Unfortunately, I absolutely had to clear my craft table because my new desk arrives tomorrow and I needed the room. But I will keep the idea in the back of my head for some other time.

LOL, Pug! That pesky '3 item rule'! I ran into it with my ATC, but the fix wasn't too difficult. Actually the 'fix' allowed me to use a very small amount of one item to = the 3. Long as 3 items are visible, it's kosher.

Remember. The 'TTR' (3 item rule) is only in force for the 2 required projects--one from each kit. Then you can play fast & loose with both kits.

Since most kits are traveling, I'd love to hear if players are planning to do 'made PP' for use with any of their kit projects--required ones & more. I might just play with some today.

Keep on posting & sharing pals!

Just made 2 quick pieces of PP with mostly stamps. Fun.

I used 4x6 index cards & didn't overthink the patterns too much--amazing for me. Neat thing is that I can recreate the pattern I did & use different colors. That way I can do 'sets' if I feel inclined.

Since my BG is tied to creating projects that others can 'duplicate' this looks like something I want to play with more.

Have to admit that PP has not been a big fave of mine, but I'm in the mood to explore as always.

My 3 items are the stamped image (on index card) & the orange & 'teal' cardstock.

Good job Neysa! But... You did a 'custom form' to send a regular size envelope to Canada? I'm beyond curious about that. Can you share the reason with us?

I've never signed a custom form for mailing a regular envelope (card/letter) across our northern border.

Anyone else have to get their envelope out today?

I experimented with a lot of different ideas on making my own patterned paper. I finally found a way to do it that I liked. My kit is snow themed, so that played into some of my frustration. I have a wooden stamp that is all circles of different shapes. I used that to create a background. The smaller circles, I used white stickles and colored in the smaller circles. This gave me the effect that I wanted. It took a day to really dry and I was happy with the results.

Neysa. I wasn't concerned about your envelope's size--you play fair always. Just thot maybe there was a new 'rule' from US or Canada. Thanks for explaining pal.

OK, troops! All kits have been mailed. YAY! Veronica. I used the APO addy you provided. Hoping your kit arrives soon.

Now it's time to work on getting projects made & shared. Be sure you do the required ones & make projects from both your kits.

Unfortunately we had 3 swappers in Feb. who did not share the required projects. 2 of them neglected to share a 2nd piece & 1 did not share any projects. Let's not have that happen this month. I know it won't 'cause you're all great players!

Neysa. Thanks for sharing how you made PP. The 2 PPs I've made were fun & I went repeat pattern for both. Not sure if I'll be using either in any of my KIAE pieces, but it was fun to do them. I used my 4x6 index cards as the bases. They're a good size for cards & smaller projects like ATCs & tags. Might do a few more. I used 4 different stamps on one & 3 on the other.

Sophikins, I love what you did with my kit! It was so fun to see how you used so many things from the kit. Thanks for doing an awesome job with it!

Today I played with the kit I received from JoeScrapper. A flowery image was calling out to me to be colored, so I made a card first even though what I needed for this month's requirement was an ATC (I have a card made from my kept kit that I haven't uploaded yet.) No problem, I made 2 projects and didn't use hardly anything from my own stash. Joe's kit provided just about everything I needed.

You can see the ATC and card made from Joe's kit here.

Thanks Joan-Anne!

I'll upload the card I made from my kept kit tomorrow, it's getting late. Too pooped to post

This has been a fun month!

I received an awesome stamping kit from Veronica. I made 3 projects with it. I used all 3 backgrounds, all the ribbon, the tag, the music patterned paper and all 4 images. This was a fun kit and I had fun making the most of it tonight. I made 2 cards and a tag. Really loved the hand made background papers. They were amazing to work- especially loved all the blue hues. I only added 2 pieces of twine. Thanks Veronica for the fun kit to work with. I got really inspired to work with the beautiful backgrounds you created.

Ditto-ing April on the great 'shares' so far!

Clever too to see some folks avoided sending PP, but included pattern tape/ribbon in their kits. Y'all are such smarties!

I'm definitely looking forward to getting my kit from Sarah & hoping Veronica's srrives soon. It's always a bit of a 'nail-biter' when we trust something to the Postal Service these days.

Looking forward to seeing more of everyone's projects!

I didn't really think of the patterned washi tape as an alternative for pp, but it can work that way. I did send a large stamped image that I thought could take the place of pp.

I used that image in my kept kit project here .

I hope everyone gets their kits soon.

I love the projects Sophikins made from my kit!

I got my kit from Susan on Wednesday. Sorry for the delay in letting you know. Last week was a bit of an off week and this weekend was a busy one. I haven't started my projects yet, but I know what I want to do. But I had to set up my new craft desk before play so that I have somewhere to play.

And I made pattern paper for the kit I sent using stamps and Susan included some lovely homemade pattern paper in the kit she sent me. So I'm all set.

I'm a bit suprised that you haven't received your kit yet, Daniel. I'm guessing weather delays.

Susan. No prob. You're doing just fine. Immediate posts are not 'required', but April & I are so pleased with how this month's swap/challenge is doing~especially with players doing more than just 'JCI' posts.

One of the parts of this continuing swap/challenge we so want to see is players interacting on the thread--rather than just fulfilling the bare requirements. We're pleased to see that aspect growing with each month of this shared adventure in creative stretching!

I have decided that there are three things I really like about the KIAE swap:

1. It's fun to get an envelope in the mail full of surprises
2. It's nice to share some of my own stash, not only images but little bits of other stuff, make die cuts etc.
3. Most important- Sitting down with the contents of one envelope eliminates the overwhelming feeling of being paralyzed by not knowing where to start. It's amazing how much one can create from the limited stuff in one envelope, and how it can actually be easier to get going on a project when the starting supplies are well defined and limited.

Well said Sophikins! I wholeheartedly agree!

I get easily overwhelmed by "too much stuff". I've been more productive the last few days, just playing with my Kit in an Envelope.

I also feel like I have just as much fun assembling the kit as creating with it.

And who doesn't like happy mail?!

Today I made a second ATC from the kit I received from JoeScrapper. This one better shows off the pp she made.

Daniel, we're both "thinking Spring" today with our ATCs. Great "requirement" this month. ATCs are fun to make.
