Nice to be able to do an occasional between-two swap. Although round-robin is fun, too.

Happy to see you, Michele.

'Joe'. April has shared with me that you are 'covered' if you decide to join us this month. If not, we'll see you next month.

Addressing my envelope today & mailing tomorrow.

If you need an address for your swapmate, be sure to get in touch with them.

I have sent Heidi pm requesting an address and giving her mine.

I put my kit together at a crop this weekend and was able to create my tag and a card. The dry embossing was interesting but not my favorite technique. I went to 2 big box craft stores and neither carried the proper tools and I wanted to get this in the mail as soon as possible so I improvised. I used a punch to create a butterfly stencil and then used a tool that came with rubons to trace. It is as detailed as I could make it. I will post pictures later in the week.

I will say that I do enjoy learning new techniques and these monthly challenges always help me keep my skills fresh or refreshed.

Sincerely,
Neysa

Neysa, I can't wait to see what you've created! I enjoy learning new techniques also and dry embosssing was one that I had never tried before. I love that there are so many different things we can use to achieve the embossed look

My April kit & tag are out for pick-up by the letter carrier.

I also finished another piece from my kept kit. Fun!

Pleased to see so many of us posting!

Gonna be fun to see how each of handles that 'pesky' dry-embossing requirement. I have to check, but FWIW... I don't believe April says the 'DE' has to be done on paper. Anyone got kitchen foil or beverage can metal in their stash?

I am also looking forward to what folks decide to do with dry embossing. I need some pictures of your ideas in action!! I mailed my kit to Sarah (Craft Nerd) today, and I made a tag from my kept kit. I'll wait a bit to share it, though, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

Busy travel month for me, which is why I made sure to get an early start, but I will do my best to keep checking in here.

WTG everyone! My kit was picked up yesterday & it's on its way to Pug (also contains my April tag).

Hey 'Joe'. Glad you were able to join us this month!

Michele. Yeah. Post your kit project soon as you want. Looking forward to seeing it.

All swappers, Check out out April's 'butt uglies' challenge. Although none of us have 'BUs' in our kits , we may be able to combine a butt ugly PP or stamp from our respective stashs with items from our kit(s).

I found a couple of my older dry-embossed projects. They were done on beverage can metal, but they would translate to paper or cardstock. They were done with ballpoint stylus AND wood tools--chopstick & popcicle stick users take note.

embossed koi

tooled stamp

finished metal

When these were uploaded, I scanned them (rather than doing photos). That may be why the embossing 'shows' a bit better--not sure.

WTG, Michele! Left you praise & comments.

Good for you Christin! Pug's kit should reach her sometime this week. I'm working on a 2nd tag & need to figure out what items from my 'kept' I want to use.

I found an old piece of dry-embossed metal on my desk. Sent it to April (along with my SND ATCs). Wish I could remember what the design's inspiration was. LOL! Poseidon

'Sok, Sarah. Some folks work faster than others. I try to work 'half fast' (say it quickly & you'll get the joke)

Kidding aside, this is not 'all about being speedy'--other than getting our kits assembled & in the mail'.

When it comes to doing (& sharing) projects, we have some time on our side--especially using our 'kept' kits.

Hi All! Nice to see we're doing fine on getting our kits done & mailed.

Pug. Trust me. I hearya on struggling with the dry-embossing. As I've shared--often--getting dry-embossing to 'show up' can be one difficulty, but so can 'blah'. One way I like to get my juices going is to just 'doodle' with my stylus (metal &/or wood) on a piece of medium weight cardstock. I draw lines, circles, spirals, patterns (think zentangles) & such. I like to do this on white or light-colored cs & emboss on both the front & back. When I've doodled 'enough', I take an inkpad or crayons over the cs & watch the embossing appear. It's kind of like doing a sampler for me. HTH.

And... related to dry-embossing is a technique called 'scraffito'. You start with cs & use crayon(s) to coat it heavily. You then apply ink (usually India ink) to cover all the color. Now you use a stylus/blade to scratch off the ink & expose the color underneath. The results often have an embossed quality.

Daniel, I got your kit in the mail today. Boy, am I gonna have fun with it!And I love the tag you made. I'm not home at the moment. I carefully ripped open the envelope in the car as I was leaving this afternoon. So once I get home I will take pictures of the tag and email them to you.

A little scary, there are a few items in the kit that are kinda similar to the one I sent

I can't wait to play with these goodies this weekend

I definately know what the first project I plan on making with my received kit is and I'm planning on using my kept kit for the tag swap. I just need to find time to sit down and do it.

Daniel - I remember doing scrafito projects in art class when I was in grammar school. It was like magic. I used to love it.

I haven't moved, I've just been celebrating! My mom is one of 5 siblings and all 5 of them are together, here in town this week. All 5 are married, and have been for over 50 years. Yesterday afternoon we had a professional photographer come and take pics. My sister came and 3 cousins. It's been a hoot! I told the photographer there would be a max of 16 people, but don't worry, no squirmy kids ... we are aged 52 to 90!! Ha! The "seniors" were riled up like kids! Lots of "cheese" and "whiskey"!

Everyone is starting to leave after lunch today so I promise to do nothing this afternoon but get my April kit together and in the mail ASAP! I'll give it priority postage.

Cindi. That does sound like a fun time with your family. Good for you & them!

Pug photo'd the tag I did for both our swaps.

I'll repeat some info here. I used 3 items from my kept:
4x6 index card (tag base)
stamped mouse with umbrella
blue PP

Project requirement: dry-embossing. I did intaglio line work on the umbrella. When I colored with crayons, they left the lines showing. Easy & effective.

Hope everyone is enjoying this month's swap challenge.

Yes! It was fun watching my mom and her brothers and sisters interacting. My mom was the baby, so I heard "she was the only one who Mom made something special for, if she didn't like what was for dinner"! And one uncle telling the other, "you were always the good-looking one!" "Remember when Joanne came home with ashes on her forehead?" (she wasn't Catholic, heehee!) Etc, etc! Lots of laughs!

And the fun continued ... as I came home and built a KIAE for Christin! Christin, your kit is in the mail!

Oh Cindi! Love hearing about your fun family time this week. Bet there's a great story behind the 'ashes'.

And ITA that building our kits is becoming more fun & less stressful for many of us. I often find that some aspects of our continuing swap/challenges get more 'comfortable' with each new month's.

A reminder for those sharing this month. If your project includes a specific 'requirement' (like the non-folder embossing), be sure to include that info in your upload comments. Please & thank you.

Mail hasn't arrived yet, but I'm hoping Pug's kit will be here today. I so want to play with what she sent me.

Happy today all!

The next few weeks will be very hectic, so I am posting my projects.

I used a butterfly punch to create a stencil. I then used that to use as stencil for the dry embossing. I used a tool that came with package of rub-ons and then traced the butterfly image to create the raised dry embossed effect and added gems to help it stand out. From the kit I created, I used the 2 stamped butterfly images, the stencil, and the dry embossed butterfly on the card. On the tag I used a butterfly image stamped on yellow, and attached it to the tag, added a flower embellishment, a brad, green ribbon and twine to finish off the card. The tag is my favorite.

Butterfly Card and Tag

Thanks,
Neysa
