I work part-time as a massage therapist, and part-time as an audiologist in a hospital.

I love both of my jobs (which is why I still do both) and feel very fortunate to have them. I can't even remember the last time I didn't want to go to work. I find both jobs very fulfilling and have wonderful patients and clients.

What do you do, OP?

I'm a junior high Humanities teacher but I'm on a health related leave of absence so essentially I'm a SAHM

I much prefer being at home to teaching ... it was very stressful ...

I teach part time at our alternative high school.
I am the district's Facebook coordinator.
I make posters (to display at the high school) and roster wraps (like programs at the home games) with my photos.
I am the district's Yearbook staff….like I'll do the entire book by myself.
I coach junior high track.
I am the winter volleyball coordinator for our town.

These things keep me hopping from one thing to the next. I'd like to have a live in housekeeper, but other than that, I wouldn't change much! I love what I do.

I own my own cake business. I make wedding cakes, birthday cakes, you name the occasion, I make the cake. I also do cupcakes & cookies.

I work from a commercial kitchen in my basement, so I have the joy of working from home, and not having to bake all day, every day, to pay my rent.

I love my job! The only parts I hate are doing dishes and cleaning my shop floor.

I work in an admissions department for a university. My work mainly focuses on academic records for transfer students. But I also deal with equivalencies for clep and AP, grade changes, incoming/outgoing transcripts, graduation prep, and non standard withdrawals.

I don't work with students. Instead I work with advisers, faculty and administrators.

Yes, I like my job. I can't BE a lawyer, doctor, engineer, ect but I can help others reach those goals so the world is a better place because of what I do.

I'm a nurse who worked on the surgical floor who left last year and now I do chart abstraction for reporting purposes (all the information you can find on Hospital Compare) and reimbursement (pay 4 performance).

I miss being on the floor sometimes, but with recent changes at my facility, I'm glad I left (no vacation time on the weekends, can only take 3 days - 1 week off at a time) when I did.

I've been a sahm for almost 15 years, and I love being home. Unfortunately, it's not an option for me anymore. My husband passed away in February. My plan is to stay home one last summer with my daughters and start searching for job. Once we get into a somewhat normal routine I would like to start taking some online courses.

Everyone always asks me, "what do you want to do? What type of job are you looking for?" Honestly at this point it doesn't really matter to me. I just need a decent salary to maintain our household.

I am a commercial RE broker (leasing commercial space, doing build out) and I manage commercial and residential property (apartment buildings, strip malls, industrial complexes and some office). I love what I do. 15 years ago I started in acquisitions and asset management, which is more on the financial side of real estate, but I switched to the services side about 9 years ago.

I am a law Clerk. I spent 18 years working for big national firms being a slave to billable hours.

Last summer I was downsized and ended up with a sole practitioner. I am now a law clerk, office manager, admin assistant, accounts receivable, accounts payable personal assistant, HR and I even sometimes mop the floor. I LOVE it!!

I am a "Patient Access Associate" which means I register patients at the hospital. I work in the ER, alternating between the front desk where you sign in, and the back where you give me your insurance info/verify your address/pay your copay, etc.

I really do like my job, especially now that I am at a hospital that is in my community.

I'm an elementary school music teacher. I enjoy it but this time of year is very stressful - I have four programs coming up in the next six weeks!

To be honest, it's also exhausting. I'm hoping to only do it for a few more years. I love teaching but the grind of the large classes and back to back schedule is wearing on me.

I'm a voice actor, and I couldn't love it more. My days are always different -- I might record a documentary on Native American mythology in the morning, then play a Russian fighter captain in a video game in the afternoon... I often go to local recording studios, which gets me out in public, but I also have a fully professional studio in my home, so mostly I get to work in my yoga pants...

It's taken me years to build up to full-time, and I'm extremely lucky, because it isn't an easy business to break into... but now, I couldn't imagine doing anything else!

I behold you riding with my love throughout the town,
And I bite my thumb at you.
Methinks the ducats in my purse are sorely lacking,
And I bite my thumb at you
And at her, too.
Were I but richer, I would be her suitor
Is this not a patent fact?
Though it pains me to the quick, I will salute her still
The aforementioned way: I bite my thumb.

I am a quality assurance project manager for a major credit card data security company. I primarily work with Excel and internal websites. I track trends, possible cheating and customer complaints associated with our sales staff.

I like what I do - but mostly because of my co workers. They are AWESOME! I am paid pretty well for someone with no college education.

Wow so many jobs I have never even heard of! There are so many choices you don't even know are out there.

This made me think of another question which I'll try and post in the main thing if I figure out how.

How did you get into your job ? Fall into it or did you go to school know exactly what you wanted to do?

If you could do anything (aside from sitting on your butt) what would you do?

I write technical manuals freelance. I'm also a writer for a science textbook publisher. Right now I'm writing a set of investigations for students to learn about the periodic table. I'm also writing a user manual for hospital administrators to use a piece of database software. And the user manual for lab techs to run a robotic lab instrument.

I went to school for engineering, and totally fell into the writing gigs. I didn't really like doing design work, but love to write. Over many years, I've developed it into my perfect job.

If I were to pick something else that I might enjoy, it would be writing the stories for video games. I think that would be fun. But I love my current job too much to look for anything else.

I'm a food scientist. I currently work in quality and food safety for a cereal manufacturer but in the past I worked in regulatory for a very large company that made canned foods, peanut butter, microwave popcorn, pudding and hot chocolate mixes. In between I worked for a small vegetarian foods company where I mainly did regulatory and food safety but I also did some product development. I enjoy what I do and the food industry in general is a pretty good place to work.

I work for a very large casino company. My title is asst to executives, but my job is really internal and external customer service. My execs are very self sufficient. Every time I move I end up in a completely different industry. Makes life interesting. I fell into this type of work by default as a military spouse that moved a lot and the job is portable. My skills from my active duty Air Force career didn't translate to civilian work after leaving the AF. Too specialized and keeping current was difficult.

I am just wondering what you do for a living and do you enjoy what you do?

I am a software configuration management engineer, I used to like what I did but the company has changed dramatically and I don't care for the people running it anymore..just waiting for my layoff to retire.

How did you get into your job ? Fall into it or did you go to school know exactly what you wanted to do?

I actually started as a Medical Assistant working in the Occupational Health and Safety Office - Same company..then I went to Admin Ass't for VP and 9 Directors, then to Sr. Secretary for Software Engineering Dept overseeing 3 other admins, then to Software CM. I originally had a Certificate in MA, then got an AA, after being a Software CM I went back to school and got my BA.

If you could do anything (aside from sitting on your butt) what would you do?
Ironically go back to medical. That was my love but after being faced with a lay off as a MA for my company I decided to stay on board as an Admin all for the benefits..medical benefits suck compared to what I was going to get. I make a ton of money right now but I miss working in Pediatrics. Or baking is my other calling..just waiting for that layoff to venture into something else.

Accounting

I've been doing accounting for over 30 years, am now a part time (average 3 days a week, unless there is a deadline) General Ledger Accountant who also takes care of tax related/ government related paperwork at a manufacturing company. Also am the go-to person for the other accounting clerks to fix any 'oopsie's' that come up.

I feel really blessed to be in this position...am working for the family business so am not making the salary I could be making elsewhere but have the flexibility to work only part time and take time off as needed.

Kinda fell into it, was taking an accounting class at a Jr College, saw an ad from Arco Refineries for a summer internship type of position (back in the days when we still used spreadsheets and data punch cards..and mimeograph machines to make copies)

...and it grew from there.

If I could do anything, I would love to retire and become a full time scrapbooker and grandma. (though the kids might not like it, as I have been painted as a spoiler of grandchildren) (simply rumours)

Sometimes I think I wish I had taken my childhood friend's path, she became a lab technician at a hospital in the early 80's...can you imagine, being at the ground floor of forensic sciences? seeing the development of dna technologies.... now, that to me would be fascinating.

I am a high school Chemistry/Physics teacher. I love my kids! They frustrate me at times, but they also fill my days with laughter. If it were just me and the kids, I could do this job forever! Administration and all of the outside garbage is making the job very stressful. I keep reminding myself to focus on the kids.

I work for a very large payroll company and I can't stand what I do there. I loved my payroll position, but don't work on the actual payroll anymore and that's exactly why I'm in school part time; to get outta here! Going to school for Accounting.

Payroll fell into my lap years ago when I was working for a small PEO - one of the clerks was on LOA and another quit during her lunch hour. My boss (I was an admin asst) asked if I'd be interested in processing the payroll and I said, "sure".

If I could do anything besides sit on my a$$, I'd be a full time SAHW and scrapbooker or a personal shopper or something fun like that.

Personal trainer, group exercise instructor, freelance fitness author.

I LOVE my career. I still have my CPA license and could go back into tax accounting if I needed to, but my heart beats for fitness. At the moment, I'm doing a freelance project that is a job of a lifetime for me.

Best of all, I'm able to schedule my work around my kids so I'm a mostly SAHM.

I teach business law at a community college. Before that I practiced law for 20 years.

I love my job.

Why can't you have male friends?

I should have clarified that better. I am friends with several of my co-workers, but it's not really appropriate for after hours friendships or going out for drinks after work. I try to be very careful not to bring on any unwanted attention. We all play office pranks and joke around. I do feel like "one of the guys" here, which is what I meant by my statement of fitting in well with them. I chose this man dominant field though and would not change my career.

I also don't feel having male friends is good for my already strained marriage.

I am in corporate education for a national bank. I work with executives on the business line side to identify skill/performance gaps and develop strategies for rectifying those gaps (sometimes it's training, sometimes it's not). My job is part performance improvement consulting and part project management. I really love it, though it's not at all what I planned to do. I started working for the bank 10 years ago and did not see it as a long term career - figured it would be a few years until we moved out of the small town we lived in (that had limited job opportunities) and then I'd go back to either non-profit fundraising or the employment side of HR. Alas, I fell in love with banking and have stuck with it. I have had a very rewarding career at the bank and have no plans to leave.
