I don't own an Explore yet. Just got a CE2 last year and have a Create that still works. However I found it interesting that they now have an app for the Explore. Thought Explore owners would like to know if they do not already. Thought it is a bit limited from what I read.
-Free
-For iPad
-Must have IOS 7
-Currently can't use SVG files or your cartridges because it only works the the Make it Now projects
-Have to have the blue tooth adapter
-Can't take your iPad on the road and design away from the internet

This is what I gathered at the Cricut website. I think it's a good idea but wow is it ever limited. If I had an Explore this would not make me buy the adapter to use the app and buy an iPad. I'm also not interested in these Make It Now projects.

I downloaded the app yesterday. It downloaded and connected quickly, then you can logon and link your account. Yes, you do need the Bluetooth adaptor, which I already bought so I can cut across the room.
There are a lot of make it now projects, some are very simple, others more complex. You can't modify them yet with the app. Just another design option that's out there.
Although there has been speculation that they may add some design function to the app, who knows? I sure would not get it hoping this comes to fruition, although I would love if I could use Design space from the app.
Design space on the desktop lays everything out for your images by color on separate mats, instead of you having to do that. Saves time for sure. I do think the software is nice (unless you are heavy into your own designing, then it would probably be frustrating).
It annoyingly has some lag in loading the images to the cutting mat, and then transferring to the cricut, or I'm just impatient.
Explore cuts great, much better than other cricuts. And it writes and draws too, a very slick feature. I only got it two weeks ago, so still figuring things out. I like it better than I thought I would based on what others had said about it.

Hi Beth,
I'm hoping the app does evolve over time. At some point I may get an Explore but I just got my E2 last summer. My poor Gypsy is dying and I really love that on the go kind of creativity. I would hope the Explore App would eventually be like a Gypsy. I would love to be able to use an iPad or Tablet in place of a Gypsy.
