ANSWERS TO FREQUENTLY ASKED PUB QUESTIONS:
1. Where do I start?
Magazines generally work 6 months in advance. (In other words, in January they are working on July's issue, so you probably don't want to submit a winter-themed layout in January unless there is a specific call for winter-themed pages.) Also, remember to keep track of the supplies you used to create your layout (brand of paper, embellishments, fonts, etc.); magazines want to publish a supply list along with your layout.
2. How do I find out about calls?
Pubcalls Blog and Pub Calendar are the most comprehensive.
3. How do I submit my layout?
For general submissions, you can submit electronically through the magazine's website using a digital photo or scan of your layout, or you can mail a color copy to the address provided by the magazine. You can submit to several magazines at once using ScrapSubmit.com. For specific calls or contests, follow the magazine’s instructions.
4. Can I submit a layout based on a BH sketch?
CK has has stated when asked this question that the BH sketches are to inspire and anyone who has used one to create a layout is welcome to submit their inspired layout for publication consideration to any magazine.
5. How long does it take to be notified?
Notification can take anywhere from hours to months! If you submitted to a specific call or contest, you’ll know when people are being notified because of all the “tooting” on the publications board.
6. Do magazines notify you by email or telephone?
Sometimes by email and sometimes by telephone.
7. Will they call back if I miss their phone call?
Yes.
8. What if two magazines request my layout?
The general rule of thumb is that whoever requests it first should get it (even if it's not your first/favorite magazine choice).
9. How do I package my layout for mailing?
Make sure your name, address and phone number are on the back of each page, and put your layout in a sheet protector. You may want to sandwich it between two larger pieces of cardboard and/or use bubble wrap (bubble side out so it won’t leave marks). Many people use USPS priority boxes for shipping and get a tracking number. Here's a thread with helpful packaging tips: How to package your layout for mailing.

sreilly, you can save the thread by either:
1. clicking on the magnifying glass icon next to the thread title, which will save it to your "watch list" and you can access it by clicking on "my home" next to your pea name way at the top of the page
2. or by clicking on the plus sign icon, which will save it to your book of scraps and you can access it by clicking on "my book of scraps" way at the top of the page.
