I have a friend that has sent me a invitation to a Salvation Army Scrapbook retreat. The cost is pretty low for a 3 day retreat that includes meals & snacks. Just wondering if anyone has ever attended. TIA!

YES it is the Texas Chapter. It is $100 for the 3 days and includes meals, snacks and my friend said last year there were 2 classes that they got also. My friend has never been to any other retreat (that being her first one) so she doesn't have anything to compare it to. I was just wondering if anyone else has ever been. Seems interesting.

I've been to 5 years worth of salvation army scrapbook retreats in WVA. There were amazing and wonderful weekends and one of the things I miss the most about not living on the east coast anymore.
For that price, I think it's worth at least one shot. I'm sure that there will be super comfy seats, great food, rustic like lodging, and plentiful scrapbook time. You should totally go!!!

I have in Florida. It was wonderful. But it was a little more than $100.00. It was 175.00, but oh so worth it. The food was amazing. The atmosphere was relaxing and fun. They had vendors there to purchase supplies from, entertainment, music, movies, food food and more food. They fed you so much, that I didn't eat for 2 days after I went home. The accomodations are nice and all the extras, like massages, pedicures, manicures, horseback riding, rope courses. It was the most wonderful crop I have ever had the pleasure of attending. There were over 300 people there and you never had to wait more than about 5 minutes in line for food. These people had their act's together. Such nice people too!! Im going again this year on Valentines day for a 4 day weekend. I can't wait. If you ever have the opportunity to go, please go, you won't regret it!

I'm in Florida too, I would be interested in this if it is close! |

Well those who live in Australia will be happy! (NSW) Check this out:

It seems that Texas has a retreat, and each Salvation Army is independent on another. Some of them have really nice retreats where they can hold things like this. See this link for Texas:

This is an old post, but you might be able to follow the link to a more recent post to see if they still do it in GA, or just call them:

I could go on, but you get the idea, do a search (I use dogpile.com)and you'll come up with lots of results.
I am glad I saw this post, thank you! I had no idea Salvation Army had so many camp/conference locations which held retreats~!

I have a friend who is a former officer. She raves about the one held at Camp Hoblitzelle in Midlothian. |

I've never heard of that retreat, and I'm in North Texas, too. And there I thought I was pretty plugged into the scrapping scene around here!
Looks like a really nice conference center though. I might have to dig around and see if I can get an invite!

Georgia's Scrappers' Holiday ($85 for 3 nights/2 full day of cropping) usually scheduled for the first weekend in March was cancelled this year due to financial reasons. I have attended three; the first one was great, the second one was really good, but last year was not so good. Last year's seemed to be thrown together and attention to the details was missing.
According to the email that was sent to some of the attendees, the plan is to host every two years and open it up to other crafters along with the scrapbookers.
