Peas who do PL, talk to me about it. What do you like, dislike, how do you keep up? Do you do it daily, weekly, monthly? I'm late to the party

Yay! Project life is awesome!!!
There have been so many great threads later on 2 peas. I don't think the search is working here, but try googling project life or pl with 2 peas in the search bar and I know you will get a ton of hits.

I have loved doing PL this year! For the most part, I take a photo every day--my husband and children are involved too. My husband is the "photographer" in the family and he gets some great shots for me. I also enjoy what my kids (ages 10&11) come up with.
I have found what is most helpful for me keeping up-to-date is printing my photos at home. Usually at some point during the week-end I'll print out my photos for the previous week. I jot down notes in a notebook throughout the week for journaling purposes.
I also love all the PL stamps--especially Ali Edwards for Tecnique Tues. and Studio Calico--they are about the only emblishments I use.
Everyone in my family has enjoyed looking through my completed pages--makes the work worth it! (But I would add--if it becomes "work"--you should maybe change what you're doing--I enjoy the time I put into my pages, but if I get stressed-out over it, I move on)!

|Posted: 10/10/2012 10:13:25 AM|You can see my Project Life posts here. For me, the way I stay up to date is to print at home. I do my PL as a week in review. I don't necessarily do a photo a day, although sometimes it ends up that way. I actually sit and pull them together about once every two weeks. Some weeks are more journaling heavy and others are mostly photos with a few quick notes. I just let the week, and my own inspiration level, be my guide on how much I do.
Project Life is probably one of my favorite albums ever because of the peek it gives into our day to day lives. Have fun with yours!

Hey Tricia! I have done it both P365 and P52. I have decided that I am NOT doing PL in either format next year. I am finding that I miss scrapbooking too much in a 12x12 format. This year I find myself duplicating pictures and I just don't like it. It really is a very personal decision and you will find your groove of what works and what doesn't. I think I will buy the seafoam kit because I just love using the journaling cards on my pages. And I will continue to use the divided page protectors. I just don't want the rules of having to do a weekly format like I did this year. My album will be layouts of 2013 and have the "everyday life" stuff just in my layouts. Let us know what you end up doing! Remember have fun with it!

You're not late to the party-you are early for 2013.
You'll love PL. It's great!
I think of PL as a photo journal of our family for a year.
KISS-Keep it simple sweetie!
I use the following supplies:
-Big Envelope Pages
-Design A, C and D photo pocket pages as well as 12x12 page protectors.
I've used Clementine, Turquoise, Cobalt and Amber kits for a variety of albums. I love the PL format and have used it to go back and recreate albums.
I use 2 DCWV 12x12 D Ring per year-without vacations. I am a nut when it comes to vacations, as I want to be able to look at the photos and feel like we are back on vacation.
Time: Set aside time each week to work with photos. This could be correcting photos, ordering photos, ect....
Then, set aside more time each week to work on PL. It takes a while to get into your groove. You'll find what works for you and what doesn't work for you. I would ask what photo pages are used the most by PL'ers. This will save you money instead of buying all of the page protectors. I purchased many kinds of the photo pocket pages and found I use the ones listed above. I'm going to use extras to reorganize my scrap supplies in my sticker binder.
I am ok purchasing American Crafts 6 slot photo pocket pages at Michaels for 40% off. I purchase a pack of 10 for $3.00. Is it cheaper? NO!!!! The reason why it's not cheaper is I always have to get something else at Michaels. If you can restrain yourself, it may be cheaper for you.
I try to have my photos printed every few weeks. I have a plan with dot photo so sometimes it's every 4 weeks. They send them to me after I have 20 pics sent via my cell phone. I'll also use CVS as I can use their bucks for photo printing and it's about 1/8th mile from where I live. You can send the pics to CVS via your cell phone. Walgreens also has this service. On CVS website: orders under $5 subject to $1.49 surcharge fee.
Do you purchase a kit for PL?
Well, I see I want the Cherry Kit so I am going to see if i have any Sizzix items to sell on the FSOT board. I am trying to KISS and have identified my Sizzix items are the next to go. I make myself sell what I am not using in order to purchase what I want.

I love it! I am doing it on a weekly basis and usually manage to keep pretty caught up although I am currently a week behind. I use Becky Higgins plastics mostly, and then journal cards and embellishments from all over the place!

I am doing Project Life in 2013 (my first attempt) but I am not using the divided protectors, I don't like them. I will just be doing either 4 weekly two pages layouts or one two page monthly spread. That way I can still scrapbook the way I enjoy, but also document the everyday. I will be using my stash for the papers.

I did it with kit in 2010; such a good experience.
Bought a kit in; 2011 didn't do it. Now I'm filling it with my hospital journey this summer
EFS 18-55 mm
EF 50 mm 1.8
EF 75-300 mm 1:4-5.6

I did it in 2011 with a BH kit and I am doing it this year with my own supplies. Love it!! I do it as a week in review. I have various styles of page protectors (BH, WRMK, BoBunny, Staples brand's 8x11) and I include 12x12 layouts as well. Each week is 2- 12x12 pages (whether they are divided page protectors or traditional 12x12). If I have extra that I want to include in that week I add a smaller layout (8x11, 6x12, etc.) between them.
As for keeping up I put the week's pictures in a plastic envelope with the date and info about what happened that week. When I sit down to work on it, I pull out the pics and nay memorabilia, find the page protectors I want to use, and start assembling. I like to crop some pics down to a 4x4 and so I make a mini layout in a 4x6 slot (by adding a strip of paper, a scallop edge, whatever).

I'll be joining you next year! Hopefully we can get a group together because I know it would really help me stay on track and maybe get ideas of things to do, pictures to take, etc.
I'm planning on using my stash, I have it already might as well use it! I'm going to stick with the Design A for my main page protectors and I'm ordering a few of the different variety packs of the inserts to get an idea of which one of those I like.

2013 will be my first year with PL too and I'm really looking forward to it.
I've read lots of posts here about how people manage the project and I have come to the conclusion that you need to understand your own limitations in terms of time and supplies if you want to keep up.
If you are a slow scrapper (like me) then the pre-made kit may be for you otherwise you will spend all your time designing and never getting anything in the album! For that reason, I have ordered the clementine kit, with the binder and 12" paper pack.
I'm a prolific journaller so I have purchased some blank 3x4 cards if I have a lot to say one day. I can also use my stamps on these cards. To aid this I have made a template of my word stamps so that I know what I have in a glance rather than thumbing through them all each time!
Much as I am not fond of my own handwriting, I will use it for small amounts of journalling. If there are weeks that need extra writing, I will type and use my favourite font.
I want to die cut my week numbers and will do that a month at a time so that I am prepared. For simplicity I have purchased the Kerri Bradford kit with all the designs done for me!
I am a mum of one 11 month old boy at the moment and I work full time so spare time is limited. I will set aside 2 hours a week to complete my PL for the previous week.
I'm not a great photographer and don't intend to carry anything other than my iPhone (camera) with me during the week so I will not fret the imperfections in photos.
If I have lots of photos from one event I will create a collage in PSE and have created a folder of suitable templates so that these are easy to find.
I love that others are using their own stash but it would take me so long to choose products and then worry that they don't go together that I would probably loose interest very quickly! I know my own shortcomings here.
Hopefully I've done enough prep that I will be able to keep up with PL next year. looking forward to hearing how people are getting on
