For the first time ever, I'm considering it; but I don't really know what I'm getting myself into.
How long did it take you to create yours? |

The intial picking of supplies and prepping took me about an hour or so to create. I put all of my supplies in a basket. I spend about 30 minutes a day printing my photo/photos, creating the page and journaling. |

Mine is going to take about 2 hours once my supplies get here next week. I am doing a 6x6 pad of paper with a Bo Bunny binder and chipboard pages. I will do a few tags and very little embellishment. I have tried going "all out" the last couple of years and end up miserable. This year I have simplified, and am really looking forward to it. |

I made an Instagram mini December Daily in about 2 hours. I plan on making a larger one for my regular photos that one will probably take me a couple of hours to make the base of the album and then I gradually add the embellishments over a week or so. |

OK Jen, I have to honest. I am a little obsessed with this project so I don't count the time, which means it is A LOT.
But I would love it if you made one because I would probably scraplift a giant pile of ideas for my album for next year. Love your creativity!! |
I am a project lifer. That's why I am taking so many pictures.....

All right you enablers! I bought some goodies today. I only wish it were here so I could play the day after Thanksgiving as I have the day off. |

I usually only take an hour or two to plan for the December daily. My planning is more about removing barriers to completion.
So in November I make sure I have the following:
1. my holiday papers and embellishments together in one place - but I don't really pre-scrap layouts, because in the past I find that actually makes it harder for me to get it done -because I get stymied if the "pre-scrapped layout" doesn't "fit" my pictures or topic,
2. an album - never bigger than 8-1/2 x 11 in.
3. a new photo memory card - I find I need to devote a memory card to the holidays so I don't waste time "scrolling through" summer photos, etc. when I need to print
4. printer ink - I try to be "done" with each day by the end of the day, so I need to be able to print photos at home, and
5. a seamless way to get my journaling done each day (either a computer based system, or premade journaling cards).
Most of this planning is not time intensive.

well jen - it's me we're talking about and i'm the slowest scrapper on the planet. it took me an afternoon to do my album covers, then probably another couple hours to do the intro and day 1....i've gotten to day 2 prepped and i'm so proud of myself for being ahead of the game. it's my goal to FINISH this year. they say the 3rd time's the charm! |

It's a really fun and rewarding project and I recommend it (at least once!), but most likely, it will take more time than you think. It's a really wonderful way to reflect on the season and I'm pretty sure we did more activities as a family last year because I wanted to document them. That was a nice side benefit to the DD.
Last year was my first year and it helps tremendously to have the foundation pages all done before Dec. 1 rolls around. I had 12 foundation pages done by Dec. 1. I left the other days open, thinking I would want some flexibility. Aaak. Not good!
Last Dec, I did a good job taking photos every day and printing them and thinking about my DD. But I still have, oh, about 10 pages in my 2011 DD that still have just the day's photos in the page protectors and no foundation page, journaling or decoration.
My goal this Dec is to finish last year's DD. |

As someone else said - it's what you make of it. I don't get toooo involved so I put my binder together in less than 1/2 hour. But that was really just sticking in pages, not any kind of making them base pages.
I actually do JYC (dont know how different it is from a strict DD) so each morning I read the email and take a few minutes to write down my thoughts. If I'm ambitious then I make the page then, less than 30 minutes, otherwise I take an hour or 2 on the weekend and do all the pages for the week.

I have pre-made my pages for December 1-25 and it took f-o-r-e-v-e-r (like 3 pages an hour) but it looks nice. I still have the cover to do.

I am planning to do mine after Christmas and fill it with pictures from the holiday season. I don't get the whole take a picture a day and scrap it...I don't have time for that. I just see it as a Christmas album. |

I've never done one before.
I've spent about 2 hours gathering and organizing my Christmas and Christmas colored supplies
I'm hoping the actual process doesn't take too much time.
I don't mind spending a weekend getting the base pages ready and a day doing the cover.
But I don't have hours everyday to spend on it during December.
And my kids want to do they're own so I have to get my base pages done quick before they dig into my stash. They always seem to take my favorite stuff |

I saw your post and had to laugh (at myself) because tonight I just posted Days 11&12 of my 2010 book! Yes, 2010. But I have completed 2008, 2009 & 2011. All of those books were completed AFTER Christmas (I do work on some of the pages throughout December if I have time). I don't like to prep pages in advance because I like to work off of the pictures for the day (colours, design and feelings/emotions). But that means it takes me a lot longer to complete. I really don't mind though and I LOVE having the books to look back through. Plus, I buy a lot of Christmas themed items but don't really do many 12x12 layouts, so this is great to use up and enjoy the products.
Whichever way you want to do this project, preparing in advance or the way I do it, I really think you should go for it. It's worth it in the end.
If you would like to see some of my work, here's a link to my posts about my December Daily.

I had a routine and stuck with it. I had all my supplies ready, I had loose notes on what I was going to highlight as my page topic for each day(ie decorations, events at school, Lights on the Lake, etc). Every morning I would drop my kids off at school and download pics, print and spend only 30 mins or less on each page. Sometimes I would get a chance to scrap Sat/Sun over the weekend, if I couldn't, it would be done on Monday.
The key is to keep it simple! One or two pics, quick journaling. Don't over think it!
This will be my 3rd year.
