I am on the fence in ordering baby project life for my daughter. she is having my first grandchild in march.
should I just buy one?
should I do it for her?
should I just give it to her to complete herself? (she doesn't scrap)
or should I just make my own and do it for her?
How do the peas see it? |

I go with make your own! It'll be more sentimental especially since she's not a scrapper. I've never heard of baby pl is it the same technique as the other?

I think I'd buy it and give it to her to do. It pretty much has prompt cards in it she fills out like she would a regular baby book.
I think I'd set up all the cards ( as much as possible ) before hand so as not to overwhelm her though.
I'm thinking of ordering this to document my kids as well. |

AC has some printables for project life, including some baby ones that are free.
It's linked in another thread here...
there is a set of Christmas freebies also.

I agree with buying the kit and giving it to her. Project Life was designed to be able to just write on a card and slip it in - you don't have to be a scrapbooker to benefit from it. On its most basic level, you don't even need adhesive!
And as was mentioned before, the baby edition will have lots of prompts to record milestones and memories. I would definitely go with the kit instead of making your own.

Yep, I'd buy the kit and give it to your DD as a gift for all the reasons listed above. |

Talk to her about it... I wanted my dd who scraps alittle to keep one but honestly its all she can do to journal in a notebook and take photos each day. Maybe at some point she will marry the two into one project but for now shes busy being a new mom |

I have a co-worker who had a baby recently and she asked me to help her get started scrapbooking. I'm going to introduce her to PL! I think in it's most simplest form it can be the perfect way for a new mom/scrapbooker to begin recording memories of their child.
Buy her the kit, sit with her and help her put it together.

If you did, would you put that much orange in it? I don't have kids, but when I look at the sample, there seemed to be a lot of non-boy colors in it, that would make me not think it was a boy.
If I were to make my own for a friend, I would go with their colors, like pastel green, blue and browns. No pinks or oranges. |

I made one from scratch for a grand daughter for the first year. I was thinking I was going to put it together and gift it to her mommy. Oh no, I ended up taking all the pictures they had taken, the ones I had taken and printing them all out and then putting them all in the book and making month title pages, baptism title pages, christmas title pages, halloween title pages, and etc. It took me until her second birthday to get the darn thing done.
It is probably worth about $600.00 in money and much much more in time. The bad thing is I have 7 grandkids and this is the only one I have done that for. And I did not get much other scrapbooking done during the year I worked on it. Now she is expecting her second and last child.....all I can think is here I go again.
I feel guilty that I have only done this for one grandchild and I kind of feel resentful that it turned out that I did it all instead of just the base for the parents. So be sure you know what you are getting into and that you won't be expected to fill the entire thing up with pictures and goodies. And once you do it for one grandchild will any others also expect the same?
It is beautiful but way more work than I was wanting to originally put into it. I didn't know their was a baby project life, maybe I will buy that after they find out if its a boy or girl and give it to them.

oh thanks to you all, gave me a lot to think about...I will choose to make a "baby scrapbook (or 2) and have her place the photos in them.
I am basing this on #1 she lives in CA. me in Vermont #2 the album looks a little cheap? Just showed this to hubby and he's thinking the same thing. #3 she's going to be a working mom in a high stress job..I may even be a bit much for brief journaling kwim?
thanks again peas |

I made my youngest son's baby album using the Baby Edition for Him and I love it! It all flows so well and didn't take a lot of thought and planning. I'd definitely recommend it, the kit is gorgeous (and I am sure the other versions are as well), and the prompts are great!

I like the ease of the PL kits. I haven't loved the previews I've seen of the baby version. I might think about just getting a regular core kit, some page protectors, (Variety pack or big pack of a), and a WRMK album,
