I am seriously considering getting one of these for "fun" photos with some of my Christmas $. There are several models to choose from. Does anyone have one? Pros and cons would be great! I looks like a neat novelty item to share with family and friends...not to mention some fun layouts. |

I have the Fuji Wide Instax, and it's just as you say: a fun way to get some fun, fast snapshots.
The pros:
- It's fun.
- It's novel (my nephews were amazed, adults get nostalgic...).
- It's immediately gratifying to have the photo in my hand.
- It's great for scrapbooking & memory keeping on the go.
- People's curiosity overrides somewhat an "oh no, I hate picture-taking" attitude.
- The film is readily available online and in specialty camera shops, so you can plan ahead to have a supply on hand.
The cons:
- The photo quality in super bright light (midday), low light, or high contrast situations (bright light & shadow in the same shot) is typically not good. Outside shots are more clear with better color than inside.
- It's a huge camera.
- The film is not something I can just run out and pick up conveniently.
- Film is pricier than getting prints from a print lab. Right now a 60 pack is $45 on Amazon, which is a good price.
- There's no timer option, so I am never group photos, but there is a mirror & lens attachment for selfies.
It took me a while to get used to the aspect ratio of the Wide pictures, and it's still kind of odd for me to compose shots of that size. It's quite different than a standard camera or phone camera. This is not a negative, just something different to get used to.
But I so enjoy having this camera, and love the unique (& instant!) images it adds to my picture-taking options | |

Thanks! I was thinking the exact same things in terms of your pros and cons. What made you choose the Wide over the other models? Just curious. I know there is an obvious answer, but just more for me to think about. |

I just got the Fuji Instax 210 for Christmas. It seemed like fun but i know i'm just going to use it for fun. I have only takend 1 picture so far and I was surprised bey the quality of the picture - We still have a few of the old polaroid pics that are all yelllow now so i didn't know what to expect. Again it's just for fun not my only camera.
All the pro's and con's i agree with. It is a big camera but still feels good in the hands if you know what I mean. I also did some searching on youtube about it and other websites.... | |

I got the Wide because it was a gift But I was glad because I wanted more of a landscape orientation than a portrait--the camera can be turned of course, but the border frame is wider at the bottom. I also thought the slightly larger photos would be more useful for me. This was before small Instagram squares or using credit card sized photos in layouts and pocket sleeves, and I'm fond of these small sizes now that I have seen them in action! | |
