Welcome to our thread, we're so glad you're here. Our group has been around for a while but we're starting the new year a little differently and we would love to have you join us for some scrappy fun! We were formally called Calendar Girls but since there isn't a Autumn Leaves Calendar anymore we've decided to change our name to better describe what we do on this thread. We are chatty and we love to encourage each other as we scrap by praising each other's layouts. We'll be posting various challenges each month to prompt us to scrap and everyone is welcome to add a challenge, a game or just chat along with us. So grab a cup of coffee and jump on in!

Sketch Challenges by Toni
Please be inspired by one of the sketches below to create a layout or card.

New Year Challenge by Tina
Do a layout documenting your goals for 2013, it can be your New Year's resolutions, your "word" for the coming year or whatever format you choose to document your goals.

Technique Challenge by Monica
Incorporate a large shape or image into the main design of your layout.

Example: I love how Julie Campbell used the ViewMaster shape here on her layout. She even put photos where you would normally see photos on a ViewMaster!

Bookmarks Challenge by Debi
Scraplift a LO off your first page of bookmarks (now this could be the most recent bookmarks or your most ancient ones from when you first began bookmarking pages--only you know which page you consider to be page one).

DIGI CHALLENGE
Scrap 1-2 pictures only, include a doodle or fancy border on at least one side of your page. Extra points for leaving white space. JUST BECAUSE I DABBLE IN DIGI DOESN'T MEAN YOU HAVE TO--HYBRID AND PAPER LOs WELCOMED.

We hope your 2013 is off to a wonderful start! Please feel free to join us as we do life together, introduce yourself and become part of our wonderful group of ladies!

whoo hoo! Happy New Year, Girls!

Tina - Lovely way to start us out, gf

Wishin' you all a fun, fabulous, healthy and prosperous New Year!
I'm looking forward to it all

I might be going scrappin' tomorrow but since I've got nothing planned, I'm not sure I want to bunch it all up and move it, LOL. Talk about lazy, huh? It's so much easier to just do it at home.
I did get one of the sketches done already, and I hope to do the other one tomorrow. I'm really going to make an effort to scrap again more.
I've really missed it.

Anyway, just popping on...apparently we can't get on the old thread anyway at this point, so let's just move on.

So...
HAPPY NEW YEAR...
with hugs along the way.

Great job on the thread, Tina. I haven't been able to get into our Dec. thread all day, so glad this one posted OK.

Lots of great challenges. I'm anxious to do some scrapping.

Checkbox is up.

Good morning ladies! Happy New Year!

I'm planning to do some scrapping today. I got one of our December challenges done (my Katy lift), I'll get it scanned and posted today too. Today is my last day off of work, I start my new job tomorrow, which will be exciting.

Scrappycass, Scrapin usmc and 4natlee - welcome to the group!!! We  new people to join the group and play along!!!

4natlee - Your art journaling is awesome, love it.

Tere - Good to have you back with us, it's good to see you.

Toni - Get that mojo going girl! Can't wait to see what you make. I just scrapped a photo of us from CKU...can't believe how fast time goes by, that's been over 5 years ago.

Well, I'm off to play in my scrappy room. Have a wonderful day ladies!

Tina - yeah you for getting those pics done! I still have not done those...I have got to get moving on some pages, LOL! Have fun scrappin' and I hope tomorrow is the start of a great new beginning for you.

Welcome New Girls - Hope you'll join us. We are a great bunch of ladies.

Tammy - Thinking about you. Hoping everything went well. Have Gary or Josh fill us in if you can't.

Jodi - Hope you'll get to scrap more, don't want to get too far behind with all those pics you have of that darling little girl.

Tere - Let's see your gorgeous work, girl.

Nylene - Hope everything is going well in your neck of the woods. So happy to hear that Steve is almost back to normal. What a relief for you, I'm sure.

Here is one of the sketch challenges:

Featuring You

And here is another one I got done:

Believe

Well, I decided to stay home instead of go to the scrapbook store...I really don't have anything packed, and it would be a lot of trouble to do so. Plus it's raining...yuck. I am so not a rain person. Give me snow instead, LOL. There is a crop this coming Saturday and I get off work at 4 (and it's way closer to J's than from my house). So maybe I'll go then. We'll see. Too bad, though, that the girl I finally met here is moving back to Florida...oh, well. There are some other sweet girls that go there, and a lot of them come through the line at J's, LOL.

Anyway, I need to move the bottom half, or I'll sit here and chat all day, LOL. It's nice and quiet here today...both Kevin and Meagan had to work today, LOL.

Have a super day, girls. Let's get our scrap on.

So happy to see the thread still working! (For newbies, we've had trouble last week with the old thread.)

Since we do have new friends joining and hopefully will add some more let's start the month with introductions. Please give a little info on yourself so we can get to know each other and if you don't already have your first name either in the Pea Title or in your signature can you add it please til we figure out who everyone is. You don't have to give anything more than your name if you're not comfortable doing so and do remember that any info that you post on the internet can be accessed by anyone with a google search so be careful what you post if you don't want someone knowing it.

Since I'm probably the most vocal of the group (in talking and writing, you've been warned, LOL) I'll start.

My name is Theresa. I've been married to Randy (who goes by MrNiceGuy on 2Ps) for 33 years. I live in Greenville in Western Kentucky. I'm an RN who works in an orthopaedic surgeon's office in Owensboro KY (an hour away so I spend a lot of time on the road). I have one adult son, a daughter-in-law and two granddogs that live in Lexington and will talk more about my favorite new nephews Jackson (12) and Austin (8) than you'll probably want to hear about. I joined the Calendar Thread the day after I joined 2P's and love my imaginary friends (a term coined years ago) and am thrilled to have more to add to the circle.

Got all the Christmas decorations down yesterday. Still have to put some in storage (right now they're on J's old bed) and Randy wants to go shopping today so looks like it'll be the weekend before I finish but I am glad I did it yesterday. Backed out of the New Year's Party, it was sleeting and since he had to work I just plain didn't want to get out in the weather to go to a party by myself. Watched a few movies while I was undecorating including finally watching Diary of a Wimpy Kid, which was too cute. Passified Jackson by watching an episode of Dr Who so I'd know who he was raving about (oh my, can we say nerd city, LOL!).

Okay, bored you all enough. You may continue with your day now.

I always say what I mean, I just may not mean to say it out loud!

Forgot to post I did actually do a little creative work yesterday while I was putting away stuff. Randy's brother bought all the siblings an ornament and a 5x7 shadowbox frame from Kohls with their initial for Christmas and challenged them to create something unique. The ornament looks like ice and I'm thinking he thought we'd do something that looked Christmasy with it but since that would mean only using it in December I decided to make it something he can have in his den all year instead. Actually I think Steve expected Randy to make it but that wouldn't have happened.

Welcome to all the new Chatty Scrappers. I hope we get a lot of new members.

Nice to see you Jenn. I hope things are going well for you. I've thought about you often.

I'm a mother of 4 and grandmother of 13. I live in Utah and have 3 of our children living close. The youngest lives in CA. I taught school and then worked as a Medical Office Manager for many years. My DH just retired and we celebrated our 45th wedding anniv. I teach Cub Scouts every week and teach 4-H in the summers. And I love to scrap...and collect supplies!

Here's the page I finished late last night.

Hi - you are such a sweet, welcoming group that I'd love to join you ! I am not that "chatty" on 2P but now that I have joined the iPhone users, I read the boards all.the.time.
And I am definitely in the scrappin' mood! We'll see if I can figure out how to post my projects now.....it's been awhile
I'm a southern girl at heart, but now in CA with a DH and one son. I'm hoping to be more of a homebody this year, slow down & enjoy my family time more, and create and maintain a budget!

Has anyone heard if Tammy is out of surgery and how she's doing?
I don't do Facebook, but wondered if her DH might post something about how it went.
We are thinking of you, Tammy!

Welcome to our new members.

Monica B - Love the new blinkie. Thank you for creating a new one for us.

Tammy - Hope your surgery went well.

Theresa - I enjoyed the Diary of a Wimpy Kid movie too. Alison just loves the book. She used some of her Christmas money to buy the latest book. Did you find any good sales? Good idea to reintintroduce ourselves for the new year.

For those of you who are new my name is Valerie and I live in Henderson, NV. I am a stay at home mom to 2 girls as well as take care of my mom who has dementia. I joined this group last year and they have been a wonderful group of friends.

Well I guess I should get off this computer and finish picking up the house. I got all the Christmas put away a couple of days ago, but the house still looks like a tornado went through it. Need to get my scrap desk cleaned up too. Planning on getting some serious scrapping done in 2013.

shoot - I did it again; wanted to edit and I hit delete oh, well.

Monica B - thanks for the blinkie, and the update on Tammy.

Tammy - hugs, girl. thinking about you. take that pain medicine.

I hope to get some more scrappy stuff done today. I did do another page, not for any particular challenge here. I'll post it later.

About me: I'm toni...I'm married (Larry) with a son and daughter still living at home. They're great kids though. I work at a middle school as an assistant in the special ed inclusion classes (my job is in the process of being eliminated sadly though). I also work part time at J's although it's usually about 30 hours a week. They've offered me a full time position, but it doesn't pay enough...I'm hoping that when my other job is eliminated I'll be able to work the J's job, and only the J's job. We'll see. There are times I'm not around much, but I'm hoping I can change that this year. I've been with these girls since, I believe, 2005, or 2006, I don't remember for sure which. These girls are the best though

Hi all I know don't be to shocked I am on here more than once in so many days. And I actually have scrapped 2 LOs in the past week, which is a record for me in the past year by the way I will have to scan them after dinner because I am planning on doing at least one more before I go to bed tonight.

Monica- I tried to put the new blikie in my sig but it wouldn't take it for some reason. Says there is an error and I did remove the spaces.

Tammy- hope you are doing as good as you can given the situation.

We did manage to get all of the Christmas stuff down, well all but the outside stuff its to cold to be up on the roof right now.
For all of the the new gals I'm Jodi, I live in southwestern Michigan with my husband of 2 years and our 1 year old daughter. I currently work at a local factory and am taking classes at night for my degree in Occupational Therapy. I don't get to scrap any where near as much as I want but I manage to squeak some time in here and there. Okay I will be back later gotta help the hubby with dinner.

Monica, thanks for the info on Tammy. I can certainly empathize with her. I hope she's not claustrophobic. Having my arm immobilized and wrapped up after the surgery was the hardest for me. I thought I'd go crazy. I'm hoping she will heal quickly since she's much younger than I. Hugs to you Tammy if you are reading! We love you!

Hi, Jodi, it's so fun to see your avatar pop up. I know how busy you must be. Hope you can come often.

I love seeing the new faces and names. I hope you'll feel right at home here. This is the most amazing group of women. I learn from them every day. If you have a question about ANYTHING, one of them will have the best answer.

I finished another page. It doesn't fit any of the challenges, but at this point I'm just happy to be scrappin'. Plan to work on one of Toni's sketches next.

Awesome Monica, thanks so much!

Haven't seen anything on FB about Tammy so I'm glad you called her Monica. I'm hoping she'll be drugged up for a couple of days. Hate to hear that they had to put that much hardware in her wrist but hopefully it will work.

No bargains to be found but had a nice day out with Randy. Did get a new vacuum since mine is in the process of dying. Got a shark and boy is it great! Inexpensive and lightweight. Got a whole suction cup full of stuff off the living room carpet AFTER vacuuming it last night with my other one.

Happy New Year everyone.
Looks great I almost forgot our new name.

Challenges look great. I forgot if I was going to do a challenge, let me know and I'll get one ready sorry.

I did nothing all day and just made a butternut squash soup for dinner, very nice.

So good to see some familiar faces, and welcome to the new ones.

Me too! (Actually, I don't really want them to leave....it's my dd and grandkids. Her dh left yesterday, but they are spending another week with me. )

But I would love to be more active on this thread once they go home. I cleaned up the craft room from all the Christmas wrapping, and am ready to dig into some scrapping next week.

Looking forward to getting to know all my 'imaginary' friends better through this group. Happy New Year wishes to all!

Marking my praise spot.

Has anyone else noticed that the views on our previous layouts are gone? For example, one of my layouts (the one with Jackson being baptized) had over 100 views before, now it has 9.

okay, back to say hi!

My intro: I'm Monica, from Kansas City. Single lady, no kids, just a toy chihuahua named Dinky. I still live at home (boo ), but one of my goals for 2013 is to get myself into the position that I can start thinking about moving out on my own & figure out where I want to live (thinking either Oregon or Colorado). I graduated in May with my associates in Accounting, but I would really like to return to school to get my bachelors. In 2012, I worked on starting my own Etsy shop and I am hoping that it grows into something more in the future! Right now, I am substitute teaching. I love it, but the downside is that the work is very sporadic, and I have noticed fewer subbing opportunities as the economy has gotten tougher.

Tammy- Sending some prayers. I know you must be miserable right now, but hopefully once you get through those first few days you will start to be better. Hugs girly!

Tina- Thanks for the new thread! Are we down to just 3 challenges now? I can't remember...

Toni- I hope you enjoyed your day of scrapping! I am really having withdrawals - I basically haven't been home since I got back from Denver even (long story - issues at home).

Tere- hi chica! I'm SO glad you are back It is good to see you around here again.

Jennnifer- That sounds like a great goal for the new year! Hope to see you around here more, too!

Jodi- How is Miss Joelle doing? I bet you take lots of pictures of here and have fun scrapping those pictures!

Nylene- I have never heard of being claustrophobic with a cast. Wow, that would be torture!

Hello to all the new ladies! I look forward to getting to know you all!

oh, does anyone have a Kindle? Any model? I got the most basic one for Christmas, and I'm thinking I want to upgrade it. The biggest reason is just because it doesn't have a light for reading at night. What do you all think? Which model should I go with? And any tips? Thanks!

I love my kindle fire, it's awesome! Love that I can hook in to my wireless, surf the net, check Facebook and read all at the same time. Also, if you have a smart phone, you can download the kindle app and access your books. Think....sitting in the doctor's office forever...open the kindle app and open your last book. Love it!

Welcome Natalie, Andrea, Mel, Marilyn, MeMovieGal (need a name), Kimberly, and Erin

Welcome back Jodi, Jennifer, and Tere!

Wow Toni, that's more pages from you than we've seen in a while, whoo hoo!

Monica, I have the Kindle Fire and I love it. It's color which makes it easier for me to read because the bright light hurts my eyes (hear that 2P's!) and I can get all kinds of aps on it for free from Amazon.com. The battery seems to last longer than on the regular Kindle too from what I gather.

I'm wondering if Debi's computer was the one with the problem causing the old thread to crash every night since we haven't seen her lately.

Andrea, is that your family in the photo on the bottom of your comments? Beautiful and how marvelous that you were able to adopt.

Speaking of adoption, my friends Lori and Clint got the judge's signature on their precious baby girl Ava. She's officially theirs now so we're all celebrating. Not sure really how she can be officially theirs after 2 weeks but that's what the deal was and the birth Mom agreed.

Back to work for me today, darn Randy still didn't get the winning lottery ticket. Although he did get the power ball number correct again. Going to have to be more specific and instead of telling him to buy a winning powerball ticket guess I'm going to have to say buy a ticket with ALL the winning numbers, LOL.

morning girls - ***praised to here***

I'm planning on doing a little scrappy stuff before I try to get some cleaning done before work. Kevin is off today and he and Larry are using my car to go look at cars for Kevin (he's still looking).

Theresa - I know...I'm so happy to feel the mojo to scrap again. It feels like it's been forever. Now I don't want to stop, LOL.

Monica B - Although I don't have a Kindle, I would love to. A friend let me borrow hers last year to read the Hunger Games, and I loved, loved, loved it. It looks like Diana got one (the Fire) for Christmas, too. I hope which
ever one you pick, you're happy with it.

Tina - Thinking about you today at your new job

Tammy - Thinking about you, girl. Couldn't even imagine what you're going through.

Linda - I saw that you stopped by to wish us a Happy New Year. Stop by again soon

Jodi - So happy to see you scrappin', girl.

Theresa - I was wondering about that too about Debi...only because of what it said with the initials DB, I think. I hope if it's hers shes gotten it fixed and will be back soon.

Has anyone talked to Wanda? I haven't talked to anyone lately, but was wondering about her. If I can, I'll try calling her on my way to work this afternoon.

Just stopping in to say good morning.

Toni and Diana - Wow! Way to start the new year right by getting some scrapping done.

Theresa - That's great news for your friends, congratulations to them.

I was actually bitten by the scrapping bug last night and managed to sit down and do a couple of pages, unfortunately I couldn't finish them as I apparently need a new blade for my cameo. I ordered 2 new ones, hopefully they get here quickly.

Waving a big hi to everyone else.

Is there room for one more?!?! Hope so, cuz here goes :

Hey y'all! My name is Misty and I live in South MS with my hubby, of almost 18 years, Tony {aka: T} and our four kiddos {ages are in my siggie}...we also have two fur babies Macy & Buddy.

I work from home as I do in-home childcare. Currently, I have an 8 week old sweet baby boy, three one year olds and a two year old. You will hear me refer to them as my little people and they are all very dear to my heart!! This is something that I have been doing for ten years now and really do not see myself doing anything else...unless the man upstairs has something else in store that I have no clue about...lol!!!

Anywho...when I am not peaing, pinning and/or caring for the little people I am either in transit to a sporting event with kiddos in tow or perched in the bleachers cheering them on!! I will most likely bore you to tears with all of my baseball/softball/basketball/crosscountry chatter, so consider this as your warning

I always have my camera/iphone in hand, but have not made time for scrapping in quite some time now...that will change in 2013!!! Which in turn, makes me super excited about hanging out with you all for lots of laughter and inspiration. So yeah, thanks in advance for that!

Okie dokie...Im sure I will be back with more later, but naptime is about to come to an end for the little people.

Happy day to each of you!!!

Yep...I pin!!!

hey everyone!
I'm babysitting Miss Sofia today... hopefully for only another hour or 2. I am exhausted - got only about 5 hours of sleep, thanks to my cousin's daughter I'm so ready to go home and take a shower & nap. Then I plan to get my scrap on tonight!

*Thanks for the advice on the Kindle. I am leaning toward just keeping the basic model, for a few reasons. First, the upgrade to the Kindle is quite a bit more than I want to spend right now. Also, I decided that having a reading light on to read with it at night is no different than a regular book, and somebody else said she finds the basic Kindle easier to read in bright sunlight. And last, I don't really want the apps or internet access to distract me from reading!! I'm already on the computer so much

Theresa- Awesome for your friends' adoption success! I'm sure they are all smiles today.

Toni- woohoo for scrapping! And sending good vibes for the car search for Kevin. I know how much of a pain that can be.

Valerie- I recently had to change my Cameo blade for the first time, and what a difference it made! Kinda sad that they don't last long.

Misty- Hey you! We'd love to have you around here

Hey all it's me again I actually had a quick minute to get praised up, I'm glad I did cause you all are doing some great work.

I had to go back to work this morningwe are already scheduled for Saturday which means our 3 day work week has turned into 4. But oh well got some bills to pay off so it will be all good. I still have at least one more LO that I want to get finished maybe I can squeak in some time after J goes to bed tonight.

Monica- I'm no help with the Kindle, I have a Nook Color and I really like it. Hope things settle down for you I'll keep you in my prayers.

Theresa- You tell Randy that he needs to get more than one number cause you need to retire so you can scrap more That is really awesome about your friends that is such a blessing.

Toni- Hello to you and I'm glad to see you scrapping to

Valerie- I think the scrapping bug is highly contagious and I hope that I am quickly "infected" with it.

Misty- Hello to you and welcome to our group. You sound just as busy as many of us. I look forward to getting to know you.

Okay I guess that is all for me right now should probably get stuff around for dinner baby should be up from her nap soon. TTYL
