As the center of a button, either in a knot, as the string of a banner or a bow or wrapped around an embellishment or journaling card.

I like doubling it up several times and wrapping it around cards, journaling spots, or photos.

Sometimes I staple a piece to the bottom or top of a page, held at both ends with a tiny attached staple.

I like tying twine into a bow and layering over another embellishment like a die cut/punch heart or cloud.

Lots of good suggestions above, and I also like to staple or glue it down around pictures, die cuts or title blocks to frame them.

My favorite way I ever used it was to punch very small round circles from kraft cardstock, and glue the twine down in a pinwheel shape to make a flower.

ChrisinCT, they were used on a card I made for my mom. I will try to get over there today, take a pic, and upload this afternoon for you. It turned out really well, but boy was it time-consuming! I have not done them since.
