We decided to move bedrooms around this spring. My scrap space will be moving from the largest room to the smallest one. I like this idea very much, as the room I am currently in has dual purposes, which makes it a messy, cluttered area, and I can't think in that space. By moving to the smallest room ( approx 7 x 10) all that can be in that space will by my stuff. I will want to paint, and can't decide on the color combo - I am leaning towards soft grey walls with white accents or white walls with pink accents - or blue with white - or taupe with some other color. If you could choose any color combo for a smaller room what would you choose?

I did mine in yellow and white but I needed a big change from the previous dark green I had in the room before. I needed something cheery and sunny and bright. If you want to stay with a more peaceful pallet I would do the soft gray with white, or even a taupe with white. I have a grey kitchen and taupe living area, I like both those colors.
Her is a Link to my yellow room if you would like to see it.

Although my craft space is larger, I chose a color palette based on a (long-ago retired) Chatterbox striped patterned paper. The walls are painted pear green (Sherwin-Williams Hearts of Palm), door/window/triple crown moldings/trim are white, dark walnut stained hardwood floors, an area rug in pinks/pear green/whites/oranges, & accessories in pinks, white, & orange with black open bookcases (PB Studio Wall Shelves)/flat file (long-ago discontinued PB Bedford 5-drawer file cabinet)/side table (PBK ?), a wheat-stained (PB Bryce) project table, & a (PB Basic) chair with white slipcover (Ikea Ektorp). I chose a very basic color, a very light yellow beige tone with white trim (closet doors and base boards). Scrapbook supplies add so much color (paper, pens and so on) that I wanted to have a "quiet" base to balance all of that color.
I have a huge problem with visual clutter. I can't think, especially not creatively, if there is clutter in my room. That's why I decided on a neutral background color rather than my favorite color of blue for my walls.
Also I would think that a lighter color would make a smaller space look larger whereas a darker color would make it look smaller, right?

I painted our master bath a nice soft grey. I love how it opened up the space. Also, it will match with any colors I bring in there.
I almost painted my craft room that same color but I decided on a soft aqua because it's my favorite color. And it makes me happy to look at!

If I had my own space it'd be lavender with a more vibrant purple for accents like the door and trim. Since all I have is a closet and left over paint it somehow ended up being the seafoam green that DH's office used to be. |

Mine is a sandy brown, very light and neutral. I added pink, brown, and white as my accent colors. I went with a very light color on the wall because sometimes a more intense color can affect the lighting, making it hard to color match when scrapping.

Honestly? White or off-white, with accents in my favorite colors. I painted my boys' room deep blue, and it SUCKED the light out of there. Our living and dining room walls have been custard, brown bag, taupe, and purple - all of those affect the lighting. For scrapbooking I want lots of light, and as true a light as possible - so even though I love color, I'd choose white. |

I painted my dd's room a light grey. I LOVE IT!! It looks great!! Although it's tad darker than I thought it was going to be. My suggestion is to pick a grey you like, then choose one or two shades lighter. That's just my honest opinion. You will love whatever you choose.

My room is Brown Tepee by Behr Brand from Home Depot. My furniture is white. I share it with the guest bedroom so the bedding, pillows, curtains and rug are different shades of blue. |

My new scrap space is getting painted (today in fact) in white. The ceiling is black. I really like a neutral colored space so I can accent with colorful accessories. |
