Hi, Peas---
Today my cat, Gabby, was euthanized. I am overcome with grief. I know she was "just a cat" and that it wasn't a person who died, my heart aches nonetheless. Have you ever used scrapping as a way to deal with loss, or as a way to recall fond memories? I am too raw right now to begin a project like that but in a few weeks I likely won't be.
Thoughts? |

I'm so sorry to hear about your furry child. We have two bunnies and I will be distraught when they are gone. I most likely will do "remembering you always" layouts once they are gone, but as of now, I do lots of layouts of them while they are still around. I did a layout of our girl bunny and how we are so lucky to have her around for so long (she has lots of health issues). Oh So Lucky page |

I lost my fur baby, Harry on 5/22. It is still a very raw wound and I have not been able to scrap anything about him since. I am thankful that my sweet Yorkie is in many of my layouts, but I don't see myself being able to do any "farewell" project any time soon.
I am sorry for your loss. It is real. Grieve it and process it in such a way. |

I am sorry for your loss and know it is never "just a cat." When I was about 12, my 6 month old puppy died of parvo, and I cried for two days straight.
I have never used scrapping to cope with a loss, but would highly recommend it, if you think it would help. Remembering how much love that your cat brought into your life might be a good therapy for you during this difficult time |

Sorry for your loss! The death of my 18 yr old cat is how I discovered scrapbooking. I googled memorial albums and came across Twopeas. That was her gift to me. I recently lost a pug and spent time scrapping all of his pics into memorial albums. It was therapeutic going through all of his pictures. I'll be making a little heart shaped mini album of him for Valentine's Day. I think he's with my grandmother now, driving her nuts. |

Oh, I am so sorry for your loss. She wasn't "just a cat." She was a member of your family. I had a cat and a dog for 15 years. When I had to say goodbye to each one, it was very painful and heartbreaking. I did eventually make each of them a memory album. In fact, my then five-year-old daughter helped with my cat's book. It was very helpful to do these albums, but you have to be ready. If it's too difficult, then wait awhile. If it upsets you too much, then you certainly shouldn't do it. But at least try. It might help.

THere is no "just" a cat. A member of household has passed.....
Both my kitties had kidney disease so I did a lot of mourning before they actually passed.
I have a album just about our pets and the other pets of extended family and friends.
It's been 2 years for one, and one for the second and I haven't completed a RIP page for either one. I did do a RIP page for two pets that belonged to my cousins.
So sorry for your loss. {{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}

I am so sorry. To many of us, our pet is not just a cat or a dog, or our pet. They are an important part of our family and when we lose one, our heart aches. I have been there so many times in my life and I still miss them. It is hard for me to look at their photos, even now. Many people are able to find some healing through scrapping. I wish that I were that strong.(((HUG))) |

I made an album for our first dog after he died. I didn't scrap his loss, so much as I celebrated his life. I made pages about the big sticks he loved to find at the forest preserves, and the rocks he thought were balls, and his favorite toys. I had a page about how patient he was my my youngest put her tutu on him and about how she fell asleep next to him when he broke a bone in his paw and was resting when he got home from the vet. I also scrapped the story of how we rescued him from the shelter.
He has been gone nearly 6 years now, and we were just looking at the album again the other day. It brings joy to our hearts to see all the stories, and a tear to our eyes when we think about how much we miss him.
This being said, I didn't scrap anything right after his loss. I don't think I did the page for several months, but I am so glad I have this album of his life.

Karen,
I am so, so sorry for your loss! Gabby wasn't 'just a cat.' She was a family member. A furry, four legged family member that was, no doubt, quite a large part of your life. Don't ever, ever let anyone guilt you into feeling bad over the grief you are experiencing due to her loss.
When I lost my first furbaby, I was devastated. I had never experienced such grief in my life. My girl was always with me. At my feet. Beside me on the couch. She was where I was. When she was gone, she left a huge void in my life.
Time eased the grief. But, it took time. Even with the addition of 2 new pups to my life, I still miss my first furry girl. She was special and held a piece of my heart, just as the 2 I have now do.
Grieve how you need and as long as you need. Then make a beautiful page or 5 to honor her memory and how special she was to you.
((((Hugs)))) |

We had to put my 12-yo dog down in July - we'd had him since he was about 12-weeks old - and it was sooo painful. I still can't scrap it. I did find an amazing "dog" photo frame that I'll use.
My guess is that you WILL be able to do a nice mini-album of her, but probably not for a while. Until then, as you run across photos of her be sure to set them aside (digitally or otherwise), so that you'll be ready to scrap them when you feel up to it.
I'm so sorry for you.

I have just cried my eyes out reading all of the lovely responses to your thread.
My heart goes out to you. I am single and was never able to have any children so my animals are my family. I lost my 4 year old kitty to a kidney disease 3 years ago this week and I still cry for her. I have 2 new girls now and they are my best friends, constant companions and fur-kids all rolled into one.
You loved your beautiful kitty and I am sure that she thanks you for helping her cross more easily. Keep your mind open to visits from her in the future ie jumping on your bed etc. They do come back and visit us whenever they can. My girl still does and it's nice to know she still loves me.
You are in my thoughts xxx

But I know the pain will ease as time goes by. I will be making an album of him though when I am up to it. He was a part of our family for 18yrs, and definitely brought LOTS of joy to our lives!
Again big hugs!

I am sorry you lost your kitty. I had to put mine down 2.5 years ago. She was a few months shy of 19. I had her for a long time. She was my little buddy. We found another kitty 2 yrs ago this Christmas. She has filled the void, but we still miss our other one.
I am glad someone posted the Rainbow Bridge. I was going to go look for it and post it here for you. Hang in there...
