Aggghhhh!!!! (That's an excited scream) Winterfest!!!
Daria, I'll host a challenge and a chatty game - no names yet.
Also, do you think it's worth mentioning here the glitch when participants upload a project thru the iPhone app - that is, that it doesn't appear on the challenge blogs and participants don't get badges (basically, ticking the challenge box doesn't do anything). This is a pretty significant problem, and caused me a bit of a headache during SOF12.
I put in a ticket then, but will follow it up again now.
Thanks for getting us started, Daria! |

Christin, thank you. I'll add the info about the i-phone to the original thread and to the how-to & trouble-shooting thread. That is frustrating!
Daria
ETA, 2/16/13: OK. I just accidentally deleted the original post for the master thread. Don't ask me how; I must be more tired than I thought.
Below I'm going to copy and paste the post I saved. Then I'll go back to update it. Sorry!
===================================================
As always, I want to thank Sandy (colourful) for sending me her SOF 2008 Word document that showed me how to put together these master threads. I do keep changing the original document so if you see errors here, please let me know. If you want to thank someone for the organization, track down Sandy!
Welcome to Winterfest 2013!
This year, Winterfest will begin Saturday, February 9, and continue through Sunday, February 17. That will give working Peas two full weekends to play. After that, Hangover Week Challenges will begin on Monday, February 18, and continue through Sunday, February 24, for those who just did not get enough during Winterfest (WF13).
If you're new to our board, here are links to our previous events so you can get an idea of what to expect. Unfortunately, the links in the oldest threads are no longer operable, but you can still see the Master Threads and get ideas. They are a part of our history so I'm including them.
For a way to see some of those old threads, check out the third post on the How-To & Trouble-Shooting Thread.

DETAILS ABOUT HOW OUR EVENTS WORK
1. Opening Day is Saturday, February 9. On Thursday and Friday, February 7 and 8, hosts and hostesses will post their challenge discussion threads and blog posts giving the details for participating in their challenges. Even if the host has indicated a theme beforehand, be sure to check the challenge thread and blog for complete instructions. Don't start early! Wait for the last-minute directions. This Master Thread will have links to both the discussion threads AND blog posts.
2. Upload your work to the stamping gallery. If you are new to posting, see the How-To & Trouble-Shooting Thread for instructions.
3. Be sure to check the correct boxes under Member Challenges when you post. If you do this, your piece is automatically linked to the blog post.
4. Do not link to projects completed previously; we want to see your new creations!
5. A single project may apply to multiple challenges unless the host says otherwise in his/her instructions.
6. Throughout the week, keep an eye on the stamping board for chatty challenges (some with RAK's) that will appear during Winterfest 2013!
7. You can start uploading projects once Two Peas has the check boxes available in the Member Challenges section. Two Peas is located in the CT Zone so the check boxes will open and close according to that time zone. (When you post to the gallery, look for that link and see if Winterfest 2013 (WF13) items are listed. If not, you're too early.)
8. Ask questions! If you aren't sure how to do something, check out the How-To & Trouble-Shooting Thread for information. That's where we put all the how-to stuff so you would not have to wade through it on your way to the list of challenges!
Click on the arrow to the right of the Reply button at the top right or bottom right of the thread; then select Watch this Thread to add it to your watch list. After that, you'll be able to access it quickly by clicking on My Watch List in the sidebar to the left of your screen.

**CHALLENGES**
Hosts and Hostesses: I will post your challenge here as I find out about them. Let me know if I should add or delete your name. If you have a theme in mind or supplies and tools people will need to participate in your challenge, let me know and I'll add them to this list. You can leave a message on this thread. Remember you don't have to offer a RAK in order to host a challenge.
Please post your Discussion Thread on the Thursday or Friday before Opening Day so I will have time to link it to the Master Thread. Please don't post your Discussion Threads early. People will see them, and it gets a bit tiresome clicking on Discussion Threads when the details won't be there until later in the week.
It's a good idea to begin your Challenge Blog earlier in the week so that Jamie can link it to the badges; just don't put in any details until Thursday or Friday. To begin the Challenge Blog, all you need to input is the name of the challenge, and indicate the opening and closing dates on the calendar that pops up when you click on challenge as the type of blog post. You can state that details will follow if you like. No one is going to look at your blog until I put the link on the Master Thread, and I won't do that until Thursday or Friday.
I will link up your discussion threads and blogs under the Challenges (below) beginning on Thursday.
It's never too late to post a challenge. If you decide you'd like to post one for just a day or two or half-way through the week, go ahead and post it. Leave a message on this thread with a link if you can, and I'll add it to the list as soon as I see it.
Once you've begun your challenge blog (It has a name and you've posted the beginning and ending dates.), please Pea-mail Jamie Sorenson and give her a link to your blog challenge so she can link the WF13 badge to it. If you don't do this, participants in your challenge will not earn a badge.
Daniel has a thread that I think you'll find interesting and informative: Hosting Challenges: Tips & Tricks
Participants: Be sure to check the Challenge Discussion Threads and Blogs for complete details on each challenge. Also, when you participate in a challenge, leave a message on the Challenge Discussion Thread with a link to your gallery post so that the challenge thread goes back to the top of the board. It's good to keep the challenge threads rotating on the board. Let's keep them on page 1!
Christinmay pointed out that there's a "glitch when participants upload a project thru the iPhone app - that is, that it doesn't appear on the challenge blogs and participants don't get badges (basically, ticking the challenge box doesn't do anything). This is a pretty significant problem, and caused me a bit of a headache during SOF12."
Christin has followed up this problem Service Center. Matt has let her know that, at this time, if you upload to the gallery using your the iPhone app, you will not earn badges, and your entry will not show up on the Challenge Blogs. If you'd like to do those two things, you'll need to upload from the website.
***I'm putting in the codes for posting the links beforehand. When the link is live, the words Discussion Thread and Blog Post will be in bold print.

Wow, what a surprise when I checked back and saw all the people offering challenges!
Jan, thank you for mentioning the banners for blogs. That also reminds me of badges. I'll Pea-mail Jamie.
Ann, I'm so glad you'll be able to play this time.
Heidi, I'm wondering--does it have to do with a product or a romantic gesture? Keep us guessing.
Ruby, I'm so happy to see a new hostess. It's lots of fun.
Daniel, I knew you couldn't keep away. LOL.
Thank you, everyone.

Daria, yes, it's the same problem - ticking the challenge boxes just doesn't work for any purpose it's supposed to be for - getting badges OR linking to blogs.
Matt replied to my frowny face (and my thanks for his efforts in finding out, of course!!) by saying that they're very busy at the moment working on "upcoming excitements"! So I guess they will work on the problem eventually... |

Cindi, I'm glad you remembered what it was because I love using stencils. Your challenge brings the number up to a baker's dozen.
I haven't even decided what my challenge will be, and I need to put away all the organizers I bought on sale that are sitting around the craft room--still empty.

I just wanted to ask if anyone had any required materials for their challenges. Daniel is doing masking, so I was going to look for masking paper (although I know that isn't required, you can mask with everyday materials, I just have that one my list) was there anything else I should make sure I have (or make sure I know where it is!)
Thanks, really looking forward to WF! |

Cindi, one of my challenges will also involve using stencils, in honor of the Design Team that I'm currently on. I hope that this is okay.
My challenges will be called:- WF13 Sablona Challenge (Sablona is the Slovak word for stencil)
- WF13 Golden Oldies Challenge
For my Sablona challenge, you will need at least one stencil. (P.S. The word Sablona usually has punctuation marks / special characters that don't work well in message board text.)
For the Golden Oldies Challenge, you will need at least one stamp that is a favorite of yours that is more than a year old. You may also want polymer clay or a container that you could make into a treat container - but these are optional and not required. |

I already have some polymer clay I meant to make Christmas gifts (but ran out of time), yay! I will decide about purchasing a mask after I see the challenge. Our craft store carries some I have been looking at them every time I go.
Anyone have a recipe for a home made mist or spray? I know some people make them.
I've set up my blog ahead of time in case it needs to be linked for badges.

Glimmer Mist Recipe-This quantity is for one very small slender spray mister. Fill 1/2 way with water, add a few drops of re-inker (Ranger distress reinkers work well because the ink is designed to work with water but if no reinkers even food coloring can get you started) and a tiny bit of perfect pearls (like a little fingernail full) swirl mixture then fill the rest of the bottle with water. Swirl again before using.
If you shake instead of swirling the mister the tube is more likely to get clogged. Tim Holtz has a video in which he shares this information. |

Jamie has posted the banner for Winterfest 2013, and it looks terrific.
If you have a blog and want to post the banner, you'll find it here.
Also, the badges are ready to be linked up. Let's get those challenge blogs posted so we can give Jamie plenty of time to link them to the badges. Remember, don't post details yet. Just start the challenge blog--select challenge as the type of blog, give your challenge a name, give the opening and closing dates, and say "Details to Follow".
Thanks, Jamie and Two Peas!

OK. I'm linking the blogs now. We need to give Jamie time to link them to the badges. Remember, she won't be around on the weekend to do that for us. Just get your blog started, and send her the link. You can add the details later.
Just a couple more days to Opening Day!

Glad to see so many challenges up. Sorry I won't be hosting this time but I'm kind of swamped at home right now. I will try to participate as much as I can, but just didn't feel I could give enough attention to be a host this time around. Thanks to everyone who is hosting. | |

Thanks, Neysa. I've got you on board.
Joanne, don't worry about not hosting! I hope you'll find some time to play. We need more participants than hosts.

As always, I had too many ideas for challenges, so instead I decided to revist my Winterfest challenge from 2011, because I think it was a pretty fun challenge. Thank you Jan for helping me make up my mind!

We are on our way.
Check out EXTRA EXTRA EXTRA in the original post:
Anne has a Drive-by Challenge that's already open. At least it was the last time I checked.
April has posted the thread for selecting your Bingo Words; I know some of you have been looking for that. (I already Pea-mailed her my words. I am so going to win this time!)
We have 15 challenges! I've been linking them up and copying them so I still haven't read all the details, but I can already tell that we are going to have a lot of fun. Some of them look pretty challenging. Some are going to help us use up our scraps. If you don't know about masking, this event is going to change all that. Drag out those stencils too.
Have fun!

Good morning. It's Opening Day!
Anne, I think you really got the ball rolling yesterday! Thank you for your driving the excitement up a notch or two with your Drive-By and your open challenges.
It's really nice that we post everything on Thursday and Friday. Everyone has a chance to check out the challenges, save them to their own computers in case of a Two Peas Glitch, ask questions so that those of us who are hosting can clarify our requirements before Opening Day, and Jamie has time to link the Challenge Blogs to the badges. Lots of pros there, and I can't think of any cons.
Have fun!
