I posted this same thread on the Photography board. I thought I would bring it here, too. I've been considering getting Lightroom for months. I do not know anyone personally that uses this software to get their input. How hard is it to learn? I would be installing this on a MacBook. Right now I organize/edit my photos in iPhoto and am wanting to take it to the next level.
TIA! |

I've found that it is much easier than learning photoshop, although there are a good many things I've yet to learn.

I just recently bought it. I have a new rebel, too, so I have much to learn. My BIL is a photographer & he told me Lightroom is user friendly, and I read kevinandamanda.com where Amanda recommended it.

I've been using photoshop for 7 or 8 years, and recently bought lightroom. LR was much easier to learn, imo.

I am a lightroom lover. Lightroom is a workshorse. Photoshop is a show horse. The 2 programs work together but are very different.
In lightroom you can batch edit. So if you have 30 pictures that you want to change the exposure you can do it in one and sync to them all.
You can do basic exposure changes in LR. BUT you cant work in layers. The presets for lightroom ( like actions for PS) is not as subtle and you cannot adjust opacities etc. but you may find ones that you love or create your own. I can carry on and on... If there is a specific question u have i will be haapy to answer it.
Oh... In lightroom you can organise your pictures and develop them ( make changes to exposure) and print them. So its all in one. Plus many many more awesome features. |

I couldn't be a scrapbooker without Lightroom, my photos would never get edited and saved. It makes it so easy to sort, edit and export your images really quickly. |
