I bought the Selphy more of an impulse buy. Do I really need both of theses printers? I think I'm having buyers remorse. I haven't taken it out of the box yet. What are the benefits to having both? I know the selphy prints wiresly. I don't have an iPhone. My daughter does. Can I print from my Android? I think I read that somewhere. I got a good deal on both he printer and the ink. Not sure. I was going to do project life, but failed in the first week. so I really don't need it for that. What would you do? Do you have both?
Thanks! |

I only have the Picturemate (an older model). I print all my PL from it, straight from the camera card. I also print to my Epson Artisan 835 using the Epson app on my iPhone. I can do two 3x4's per page on the Picturemate using just the camera card.
If you aren't doing PL and aren't going to print wirelessly from it very often, I would return it .... and use the money for scrap supplies!! Or a Starbucks card or something I would love and use
I don't think the Selphy has better photo quality, longevity, or anything else that would make you keep it just for everyday printing when you already have a Picturemate.
Maybe look into getting one in the future - when you do PL or you get an iPhone. That's when having the extra expense and taking up space on the desk would be worth it to me, because of the iPhone printing. |

I have the selphy......and really wish I had the picturemate. I have the oldest picturemate ....picturemate 500 I think it was....and it prints much cleaner nicer images that the selphy.
If the PM was available here, I would have jumped at it.

I just bought a Selphy 900 after years of being a Epson PictureMate fanatic. After the last go around with the ink banding, I stopped in BB for ink and the Selphy was on sale.
Hands down, the Canon Selphys have come a long way. I had an 720something a few years back and it was stinky. The colour shifts drove me mad.
I love the convenience of printing at home, I print all my photos thru Picasa or directly through my android phone. The ease of printing wireless is a godsend. |

I have a Picturemate (charm?) and I love it. gorgeous photos! I just ordered the Selphy because the convenience of printing wireless from my phone is just too cool. I will still use my Picturemate with my SD card but the Selphy is going to make 4 of us in this house pretty happy!

Oops I wrote the name wrong. Yes my other printer is the charm. Newer one. I just got it around October.
I may return the Selphy. I can always email pic from my phone to my computer. The wireless feature really isn't a deal maker for me. I bought the Selphy a few weeks ago. I may look into one down the road. I'm trying to clear out bulky stuff from my scrap space that doesn't get much use. Obviously one will get more use than the other. |

I'd take it back if I were you. You haven't said one "pro" about it except the price. It will most likely be on sale down the road when you do need it or a new one will be out by then. Probably not a popular opinion but I'm also trying to get rid of "stuff". |

Hey Christine!
I have two of the small Canon printers (previous generation) and I love them! They are the printers we took with us on the bike to take pictures and print them out for people who had never held a photo of themselves (see our giving pictures site for shots!). They held up to be hauled around, being out in dirty conditions, etc. I love that the ink and paper matches up perfectly so there's no waste and no worries about running out of one or the other.
I have been thinking about getting the new one just for the wireless printing, since that's a new feature that ours did not have (not that it would have mattered in the Himalayas or the deserts)!
If you are looking to sell the Selphy, let me know what you want for it as we can always use an upgraded model for the Giving Pictures program. |

Steph, I still have time to return it. I paid a few pennies shy of 140.00 with the two boxes of ink/paper. You can prob find the same deal by the time you paid for shipping. Are you still in Ca or did you head home already? |

Ok. I will likely only buy one Iraq we go out again.
Nope, headed back home right after CHA.
Sorry we didn't get to hook up while I was out there. I sure didn't think it would be so tough for us to find a day and time given I was out there for a month! Ah well, next time. |
