I find it pretentious to say, "My aesthetician." So I say, "The girl who does my toes." LOL
What do you say? | |

I say esthetician. I find it demeaning to say nail girl or whatever.

The girl who does your toes would probably prefer you used her name or her correct job title. Beautician, beauty therapist, nail technician or aesthetician are all fine and don't sound off-hand. |

I would say "the girl who does my nails" same as I would say "the girl who does my hair." If I mentioned them by name, noone would know who I'm talking about.

Mine refers to herself as our nail tech, so that's what I usually call her when I reference her to someone who doesn't know her by her name. Otherwise, I just call her by name.

I do my own, but I would call him/her a nail tech.
Has nothing to do with what to call the tech, but: the last time I went to get one, just as a treat for myself, it was at a salon run by a family (sort of typical setup, Vietnamese family business) and there were teenagers doing the pedis. One was a boy. I would have DIED if a teenage boy had had to massage my legs and feet! I was so glad I got the girl. I don't think I could possibly have sat there and not felt like some creeper old lady, no matter that that certainly was not my intention!
And yes, he was an actual teenager, not just a young-looking man. My DD was in his senior class in HS at the time and she felt all sorts of bad for him that he had to work there dealing with people's feet. I wonder if he was licensed...but I assume he was 18 so whatever.

I do not know that I have ever had an actual aesthetician do my toes or fingers. More for facials.
The person who does my manicures is called Jackie. |

Or maybe "pedicurissimo" - because he attacks my feet like a 4 star general. I leave with feet as soft as a baby's bottom, lol. |

I like all the creative titles. Mine is a nail tech though.
Also, 2 of the 3 salons I frequent have guys who work there. Usually, they seem to just do finger nails. I've never gotten a leg massage from a dude, but one of them has painted my toe nails. He's like super-precision tech.
ETA: Just realized I have an abundance of jack off smilies in my post. Seems appropriate.
