November Store Newsletter

As I sat here trying to think of what I wanted to write about for this newsletter, I was reminded that November is a time to be thankful. And I realized, that Yes! It is a time to be thankful---and I have a lot to be thankful for....
Being a part of an industry that is devoted to something I feel really passionate about---the preservation of memories, art, journals, photos, you name it---this brings me a lot of joy. I am filled with passion about scrapbooking, and all the things associated with it. I am so incredibly thankful to be able to be a part of this industry, this craft. To play a role, and to be surrounded by the things I love so much. I am so thankful for Two Peas, and the involvement it has in the industry. It has brought me an incredible amount of opportunities, opportunities I probably would not have had before. I can't imagine my life without Two Peas at this point. With it, I hope it can continue to create great opportunites in the future.
The last couple of months have brought forth my passion for scrapbooking in a strong way. I have been overwhelmed with ideas for Two Peas, for the Garden and just scrapbooking in general. I know the wheels of change are slow and cumbersome, and above everyone else, I dislike it the most. At the same time, I can't help but be excited about the new things we have envisioned for Two Peas.
This last week has brought the final 3 Garden Girls to the team to make it a nice rounded team of 40 designers. I have received 100s of emails over the last few months, looked at hundreds of layouts and resumes and written down lines of comments for myself to remember about each person. I find this task so difficult, as I think there are too many qualified people to fit in the spots I have available. I feel honored that so many people express an interest in becoming a Garden Girl, I am overwhelmed with appreciation at the response. Thank you so much to everyone who emailed me, expressed an interest, and sent me layouts.

In the last month, ideas and comments have been raised about the message boards and the Terms Of Use. This has always been a touchy subject for us, and something we strive to make as easy as possible for everyone. I realize that there is a big grey area right now, with the blogs and other links of that nature. And right now, I don't have an easy answer for anyone on this subject. We have had a lot of discussion here, about what needs to be done and how we can make the TOU more effective, and ultimately, how they can be enforced. And we have yet to reach a decision as to the best way to do this. But it is not far from my mind.

Two Peas is having a November Warehouse Inventory Sale. We are moving things around, making room for other things, and reducing our stock on some collections. The following links are to the sale categories. Thanks!

Artist Spotlight Jamie Waters

When did you start scrapbooking?
I started scrapbooking in when my daughter was born in 1995, but I didn't really get into it. I felt like I should do it, but my heart wasn't into it. I didn't love the product, I didn't love the results.

How were you introduced to it?
One night I was on the internet, and found 2peas. I saw Cathy Zielske's, Tara Whitney's and Joy Uzarraga's work. That did it for me. I was inspired. I learned that I could scrapbook the way I wanted to. They are definitely the ones who opened my eyes. :)

What are your sources for inspiration?
My kids, my family. The things we say, the things we do that I want to get down on paper forever. The little things I know I will forget in a few years.

How do you get started on projects (layouts, etc)?
I either start with my story or with a photo.

Whichever moves me more at the moment. From there, I choose products that match my mood. I tend to use the same products over and over... so if I love it, it will be near my desk. And I seldom like digging through my boxes and files to look for other product that may have gotten buried. :)

What things do you like to communicate through your work?
What my life is like right now. How it is to be me...surrounded with the happiness and craziness in my life. I want that to totally shine through in my pages.

What have been your biggest achievements or greatest layouts or moments with this hobby?
My 2 greatest things would be winning CK HOF in 2003 and being a Garden Girl.

What kind of goals do you have with your scrapbooking?
Just to complete my projects per month on time! :)

Where do you scrap?
At home, in my bedroom. I have a desk with my computer on it and most of my supplies are within an arm's reach.

Do you attend crops or conventions?
No, I don't. Not because I don't like to, just because they don't come up very often at a convenient time.

Where does scrapbooking fit into your life?
It is definitely 'my time'. And as a SAHM, I have learned to value and make that time for me on a daily basis. So, it is huge. It's like what I need to just unwind for a bit. Even if it's not working on a layout everyday, it's going through pictures, going to 2peas, reading magazines. It's all part of the process that I have come to dearly love.

Do you scrap in the morning, evening, late night?
I used to be a late night scrapper, but since we moved my stuff into our bedroom, it doesn't usually work out too well. At one point, Chris, my husband, asked me, "Do you need to do that with the lights on?" lol- ever since then, I keep it to the morning and day. I try to get most of it done when the kids are in school.

When do you do your greatest work?
I have no idea. It just happens sometimes and sometimes it doesn't.

What does your family think of your scrapbooking?
Everyone totally loves it and supports it. Although my husband could do without the mess. ;)

Do you have a favorite product line, paper, sticker, or cardstock color?
I love all letter stickers. Right now I am loving the DOodlebug ones the most. Patterned paper for sure- right now it's KI and SEI and American Crafts.

Cardstock color- Browns, Grey, Greens and Blues-- without too much texture.

What do you want the peas to know about you?
I love chocolate, am an introvert, pretty thrifty when it comes to money, can't stand the heat or cold, i need very little to be happy, crave order although I continually fail to acheive it, and am totally, crazy in love with my family.
