Garden Girls: Trend Watch By Tracy Miller

Using Digital Elements in Paper Scrapping

Or, using paper elements in digital scrapping. Depending on your point of view.

I've been noticing a lot of people who call themselves "hybrid scrappers" or, more colorfully and strangely, "biscraptual." Many people are embracing the idea of including some digital techniques in their paper scrapping. It seems a natural progression for many who have become familiar with the software necessary, thanks to their digital cameras. And, as more and more digital scrappers show their work, the more they tempt those of us who use paper and glue to want to duplicate their cool looks.

I have always been intrigued by digital scrapping, but I was reluctant to try it. I didn't want to have to learn a whole new skill set, plus I didn't want to give up the "feel" of scrapping. I love being able to touch my supplies, and run my hands over finished pages. But mixing those cool digital elements with my "traditional" scrapping has been a great compromise for me. I've been loving the flexibility of resizing, recoloring, and printing my own elements and then using those with my beloved supplies.
