Title: Week 1 - Aperture

flowers f/5.6, f/13 Rubik's cube f/5, f/10, f/25 both with my husband's Canon Rebel XT at 400 ISO Not the prettiest, but that's alright with me because I actually feel like I'm understanding some of this.I was quite nervous and intimated about diving in on the lesson/challenge. I've always felt unclear about aperture even though I've read about it ... I came to realize today (after doing the challenge) where I was "confusing" myself. My mistake was thinking that the low f/stops were the "focus" ones because it focuses on a particular subject with blurred background ... that's why the reading didn't quite compute at first for me. Now that I realize how dyslexic that thinking is I'm so happy to keep learning more. Thank you Joanna for the class. I will definitely keep practicing all week.

Oh, these are excellent! I just posted mine, and I have it all wrong. I too am grateful for the lesson; in addition I thank you for your comments here because they have enlightened me in the way that "it" clicks now. I love what you have done here. ML

Great job. I agree with you about confusing yourself. I was doing the same thing. These excersises are fantastic, and taking it one thing at a time, slow and practicing has really helped. I feel like I "get it" now.

"If we forget all that stuff and just think about the latest fashion, latest movie, latest music, the horrible things in our past can come back, because we forget things very quickly in such a high-speed society, and that's dangerous, because the horrors, the horrors can raise their heads in a society of indifference. It might be happening right now. It's easy to distract people from what's important if they're already distracted. It's easy to slip things underneath them." Dave Matthews
