Title: Day of Horror

Sorry about the somber topic. The horrific fall-out from last Saturday is still being measured. This was the photo from my front door. After I took the photo and then looked at colors of the Pub Ad Challenge I knew what I wanted to do!

It seems almost frivolous to compliment you on your LO under the circumstances - but it is a beautifully designed page.
I cried when I saw the total devastation on the news last night. We had bush fires here in Cape Town this time last year & it was utterly terrifying - I actually cannot bring myself to look at the photos almost a year later.
My thoughts go out to everybody whose lives have been touched by the horror of these fires

That is just awful- the fires not the LO. It gives us much to be thankful for. Great design!

what a terrifying story. You were the first person I thought of when I heard the news and I am so happy that you, and your, family are safe. So sad for those who have been affected though. The layout is wonderful - I love the newspaper effect and the photo is awe-inspiring. Stay safe!

I watched scenes from this on the news last night and cannot begin to imagine how horrible it must be to live it. Beautifully scrapped page. Sending prayers and safe vibes for you and your family.

So sorry that your part of the world is suffering so much now... our prayers are with you that the fires will soon be under control, and the devastation will end. Fantastic photo & layout, you really brought the pub ad to a new level. Great job. You really made your layout personal.

That photo is amazing and your journaling is so touching. The layout is wonderful but the news from there is so sad. I pray that you continue to stay safe and that everything will soon be under control.
You did a wonderful and to the point Pub ad.

Just when I opened the digital gallery, I saw the top half of you LO - and I knew it was your LO because of the trees.

OOOOHH WOW, I don't really know what to say to this subject. Had to send you a PM.

Your LO is beautiful and the newspaper strips does (unfortuneatly) gives this LO a very realistic look.

Kind of ironic that a MaCD. ad can lead to a LO like this.

Great lift of the ad.
Scrapbooking is supposed to be preserving memories and as the numbers continue to rise higher and higher, making this a shocking moment in Australian history, important to document the events of the day.

Glad you are safe Esther! Awesome photo and using the newspaper clippings to document such a terrible event is a great idea. We have just been watching TV and it is even worse news this morning with about over 170 people confirmed dead in the fires. And it is still flooded up in North QLD too - Australia is a very challenging place to love in.

Kind of ironic that a MaCD. ad can lead to a LO like this.
I thought that too, but really, it worked beautiful for that photo. Our prayers are with you. I think it's cathartic to scrap scary moments, I hope it helped you work it out in your mind a little. The lo is really poignant, and I like the clippings, that was a good touch. Stay safe.

Congratulations on layout of the day. We have been watching the events unfold on the TV too. It is just too tragic, and I am so sad for those people who have lost lives, loved ones or possessions in the fires. I am glad to hear that you are all safe.

Congrats on the pick of the day.

I am 15mins from the main fires and to be honest havent felt like scrapping all week. I have my photos and I guess thats what scrapping history is about. Thank you I scrap my photos now as painful as it is.

You captured it; was such an awful day. We're only a couple of kms from that fire - I was working on the fires (for DSE) that day and haven't seen anything like it (and I worked through the two alpine campaigns).

We're in for the long haul here.

Great job.

Your did a good photo and design and I'm happy for you
that your are "Lo of the day", Esther.

But, from the other side of the world,
it tough for us to watch you from here in Canada,
we're freezing -30, and we are
watching the tragedy that is happening overthere
in Australia, with the fires and temperature going so high that the air is almost burning...and it looks terribly sad.
I hope you and your family are going to be ok.
My prayers are for you and all those people outhere who need it.

What a perfect layout to document such tragedy. I love the photo, it speaks volumes on the innocence lost. It is a horrible, senseless tragedy that you captured beautifully. I hope that doesn't sound wrong. Sometimes we have to document such events to help us heal. Just like 9/11. Stay safe.

It is a great layout, the saddest of circumstances, but a historical event for Australia.
It has been great to see our country pull together over this tragedy. Our thoughts are with all those effected from this sadness.

Your LO is beautiful. It's good to document/journal happenings like this. It's part of your life.
Good luck. I'll be thinking of you all.

We livein Queensland but hubby's brother and his wife lost their beautiful home and everything in it in Marysville last Saturday. I have been thinking of scrapping the story of the fires and letting them add their own comments and feelings as a catharsis. Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers pea-buddies.
