GeekPea and Pea1 - the coolest bosses ever. :) rob, our marketing director...jeff (GeekPea) & TJ - doing techie things... sooooo fun!

My mission tonight is to come up with a cute birthday card idea for kids. Bright, fun, cool and funky - that's my goal! So far I have the base all figured out, just trying to come up with an extra cute feature item. Do you ever get part way through a project and just lose your creativity? That's where I'm at, so I decided to spend some time on Two Peas to get me inspired. Wish me luck! goshery www.goshery.etsy.com
Just wanted to know if there are peaNuts out there making some great Easter cards! I started getting some ideas a few weeks ago. One idea was to cut a 6 inch circle on one third of a large piece of double sided scrapbook paper. When you fold it over you have your circle with the beautiful color showing through. Then when you flip the bottom piece over that you first scallop the edge so you have the look of a cracked egg ! The I secure a flower to the left of the egg with a brad. On the right side of the card you have enough space to slip in a gift card if you want... Forgot to mention that the circle was cut near the corner of the left side of the page!
If you want to make the envelope yourself, you don't need a template. I make cards in so many different sizes, I can't keep a stock of all the colors and sizes I need so I use this formula to make my own. I found a formula on another website to do this. The formula to calculate how big of a piece of square paper you need to cut to fit your card is this: (a x 1.5) + 0.5 = square to cut a = size of card in inches Example for a 6" card: (6 x 1.5) + 0.5 = 9.5 For a 6" card, cut a 9.5" square piece of paper. Step 2: Cross or bisect the paper. This means you find the middle of the horizontal and vertical sides, and draw two lines with a pencil like this: | --|-- | Step 3: Use a square punch (I use a 0.75" square) where each line you put meets the paper, but use it so that you are making a triangle "notch," not a square. This makes the paper easier to fold. Step 4: Now fold the corners up to make the envelope and use adhesive on the edges after making the folds. ETA: I will take some pictures of the steps and post them!! Sorry, didn't see the comments right away! :) Please note that I didn't come up with the formula or instructions -- I can't take credit for any of this. I found it on a stamping website's discussion forum.
To Faux stitch on your project with no stamp you can always use your perforator that is included with many scoring blade sets. Just roll it in your ink and roll lightly in a straight line along your project. Voila!!! Instant "stitching"!
as I get better at this hobby, and as the products become more abundant and varied, my pages are getting better. so if I work chronologically, then, logically, the older pages are "not as good". so I'm making a case for scrapping pages from now, then and way back as you feel like doing them. I also believe it's okay to rescrap an event or photo without taking the old page apart. and (can you believe how I'm going on and on?) I have a few tricks up my sleeve so that I can feel "caught up". one is: order prints in doubles, immediately put them into regular photo albums with captions or post it notes or an index print (try qoop.com) that you can write on. then if you decided to stop scrapping today, at least your photos would be in albums with information and dates so people can look at them. another is: do summary pages. summarize ALL birthdays onto one page or a double spread. or do all school photos. or all christmases. or try to do a year in review with tiny "contact sheet" sized prints. it doesn't have to be an amazing work of art, just getting it into your scrapbook will take some of the pressure off. now you can go ahead and scrap a baby photo from 8 years ago then jump ahead to last week's trip to the zoo without feeling like you're "not caught up".
